Hey Tampatec, I have watched this several times and still everytime I learn more. Back in the early 90's I got a brand new Pioneer reciever. With a 5 yr warrenty. It last five yrs and five days. I got home at five there abouts and it died." 555" So I boxed it up. And put it away.I have not touched it since. After watching your videos I got up the nerve to try and fix it. Well I carefully opened it up and could not see anything wrong. I wiggled some wires and used some can air to clean with. Took the fuse out to check. and clean. When I plugged it up it started working again. I have let it play now for a day and a half and it has not missed a beat. Back when I got this thing it was top of the line and now a prologic system is not worth much. But ya know it means a lot to me. So Thanks for making these videos.
hey i just started a job for Marriott and they have 8-12 phillips tvs sitting in a room that all went bad i totally want to fix these!! we have 3 rooms that have no tv in them! I have watched several of your videos and feel pretty confident i can make a good impression on my 2nd week on the job!!! thank you so much!!!
Good answer to MRMac.....Mr Tampatec....You are very skilled, and very helpful. I like your style, not the type mrmac displayed. Nice vid, very much worth it to the electronic hobbyist or the DIY-er. I appreciate you trying to find analogies that may not be 'text book' but rather help get Average Joe Sixpack onto the road to learning where he can tweek your messages down the road. Good job!
I subscribed to you channel because of this video. You described electronics better than any other video I've seen. great job and keep the videos coming
Thanks for the information, great tutorial. I’m looking at my broken tv and have been following your videos. I don’t have a standby light and a section of the board looks burnt, trying to figure out if there is continuity and parts are functioning. Can you please identify the orangish brown component on the board.
The blue things you pointed as capacitors are actually varistors. They decrease their resistance when the voltage on their pins reaches the stated voltage on the vatistors. They are there to short out if there are any power spikes and then blow the fuse.
The revision numbers are especially important! Thank you for mentioning this. I accidentally bought a board with the same number but different Revision numbers. It was an Rev 2.2 instead of Rev 2.1 and they moved the Positive and Negative pads to an new position and I burned out the charging IC for my Samsung smart watch! Ouch!
This is one of the best videos for checking circuit boards. I just can't get why do say "open line", in 8:20. Do i have to do this "open line" or what? However, thanks again for the great tutorial
Thanks for the quick response. Actually I was able to figure out what I did wrong when measuring the voltage. I was using the ground from the AC side instead of the ground from DC side. Once I did this I got the correct voltage readings. Now when I press the power on the TV the backlight turns on but no picture is shown. Does this indicate that there might be problem with the main board?
Dude im an amature compared to you im colour bling so resistors are a stopper for me but thnks to u consider my enlightened uve taught me so much in 20 minutes ur gonna earn me so much money
Dude amazing videos helping me so much I have a d p series Sanyo TV I'm getting a 15 volt reading as I should on the main power board but as 17.8 on the analog board looking for a fix pick the TV up off the street the other three that I picked up look to be from a power surge to the coax from obvious Burns help a brother out. Your a great teacher. Most of this is in Latin to me. Wondering if you would be able to help me with a issue.. I have a NS-24D420NA16/NS-24D420MX16 model Insignia Tv. Trying to understand the connectivity part. Thanks for any help! Nothing on my board looks bad. I hear the beeps. When I put the power supply in. Red light goes on then off. I try to giggle the power supply, but it keeps doing the same thing. Tried different power supply's and all the other basic troubleshooting. My fuse is good. Tv is like new btw. Thank you!!
Great videos. I have a PN51D450AD2. Had a lightning storm and had it hit take out my satellite dish/PVR. The plasma worked for a bit till I tried to reset the PVR (turn off the main power bar), now the plasma will not turn on. Only the red light in the bottom comes on solid. Replaced the power board (X Main) but still only getting solid red light when plugged in. Any suggestions on what I should do next? Can't seem to find the help on any posts, Thanks
I'm having an issue with my Hanns.G HG281D monitor. Watching video the other night, the image split in two and the screen got whiter & whiter and now only shows white with either some grey or colored vertical lines. I tore it completely apart and every connection is solid. It has 4 boards. Main, Power, T-Con and Inverter. I assume the inverter is fine because the back-light works. Is the problem likely a capacitor on the Main/Power board or the T-Con itself defective? Thanks for any advice.
i use to use that solder sucker, i hated it. now use a desoldering iron. it works way better. also, "beep mode" i believe is called continuity. the white grease you refer to is called thermal compound.
hey friend nice video can you do a video on pc and laptop motherboard how to test with a digital meter that would be great , anyway thanks for the video.
Hello..luv ur videos. I have a Altronix Al400ULB circuit board for a security system..do you have a shop i can take it to check? 24 volts in,nothing out...
Have u if it worked on a LG plasma TV model number is 60pv450-UA the TV is on but the picture is light dark and you can hear the sound there's two circuit boards 1 is on the Yside and the other one is on the Z side.and also how do you check ceramic fuse which is t6.3 ah 250v..heres the part number EBR678 20001 and the other board part number is E BR71516301 and also by the way nice video:)

Hi Sir,I got a philips Tv power supply with two blink.I check one of the diode " SB 140" with only 156,so is it bad?how to replace the similar value? Thinking of changing the board, where to buy, pls advice? Kind Regards to you
I have a Vizio VO47L FHDTV30A, the vizio logo in front of the TV turns on when its connected but the screen wont turn on. I checked for any burn components but everything was fine. I started checking the voltage from the power supply and the input AC power is ~121VAC but when i check the output voltage the DC power 1st connection suppose to have a 24VDC reading and 2nd connection a12VDC reading but when i use the multimeter both read about ~55VDC. What would the problem be?
Do all transistors have to read 0.5? I have two transistors (same part number) that read 0.9 one way, and 0.5 the other way. Are they both bad or can I assume they are both good? Thanks!
The range is between 0.4v to 0.8v then the diode is fine but this depends on where you get the information from. Some industries believe its between 0.3v - 0.8v. I would change it if its 0.8 or 0.3. But its down to the engineers discretion.
Hi Tampatec, My Plasma Samsung TV model PS51D8000FU is not working. The power doesnt come on. Ive open the back to see if I can notice any bad capacitors but visually, they all look ok because there is non that is bulged. The Red light goes off when I press on from the remote but no picture and no sound. How can I repair it? Please I need your help.
i have a LG Flatron lcd 19" monitor that doesn't power on ....checked the lcd panel with other spare power supply board, then only lcd panel's backlight is turned on ... what is the probable problem with it ? where should i start ? please guide me ...

devices draw current between power rail and ground .. forget the positive attracts negative theory. investigate what a fluorescent lamp ballast does re: current limiting function .. this could prove insightful.
@ Tampa Tec Be wary of what they teach in schools... They still teach kids that some Italian named Columbus discovered The Americas, even though that guys was actually Potugese, His name was not Columbus, and The Vikings were stomping around North America long before Columbus was born. However my personal favorite historic lesson was how some slaves cut millions of blocks of stone for building the pyramids in Egypt, and did it with copper chisels! LOL! That would be a good trick without even considering they moved the blocks hundreds of miles . Before having to convince the ancient aliens to stack the stones for them. LOL!!! I made up the part with the extraterrestrials, but that's more believable than dragging the stones on rollers made of trees they didn't have.

Hey great videos I've watched all of your TV repairs and you make it look too easy! I've given a shot at my own busted TV but I've run into a problem. I've replaced all the busted caps (though one of them is of slightly lower value till I can grab one of the same uf). But the earliest resistor now keeps burning out as soon as I plug in the tv. I'm not sure whats making it draw so much current I'm sure the values of the replaced parts are correct since I was going by the service manual. Help!
