Went to high school with Jimmy Hall’s sons, one was in my grade, and met Jimmy many times. He was pretty involved with the school, and would play at different functions when they needed him. Great family, great guy.
I think I heard of these guys yrs ago but haven't heard them until now...Ty man
I love these old southern bands as well. Virtually all of them perform like they popped out at birth singing and playing instruments before the doctor even slapped their asses. It's quite amazing, really.
They are originally from Mobile, A l (pronounced Mo beal) and we were all very proud of them. I knew all of them and even play a band with one them. The keyboard player John Anthony and I went to the same school, he is and always be a very good friend of mine. Jimmy Hall, the lead singer, Jack Hall, the bass player, and Donna Hall were brothers and sister.
I cant believe I missed these Guys in my yout ( early teens ). Nice tight clean roccked out blues w/a little gospel touch in the vocals and the background vocals perhaps? nice, Thanx !
The late, great Charlie Daniels once said "Jimmy Hall's got more soul in his little finger than most people have in their whole body." Watch Jimmy belt out the old Sam Cook classic "A Change Is Gonna Come" singing for Jeff Beck and you'll see why Charlie said that. Love Blackberry Smoke's version of Keep On Smilin recorded at Capricorn Studio in Macon, Georgia with Jimmy Hall singing with Smoke.
Wet Willie was a fantastic band, blending rock, soul, R & B, blues, and funk. Among the "Southern rock" bands of the '70s, no one sounded quite like them. They were the *funkiest* of the Southern rock bands! (GA's Mother's Finest were/are very funky too, but they're more of a funky hard rock band.) Wet Willie were local heroes to me, and "Weekend" was *always* played on local radio on Friday at 5 pm!
I saw Jimmy Hall with Jeff Beck a couple of years ago and he was still in great form.
Right on man this is great!
I bet Wet Willie was a big influence on John Popper of Blues Traveler. You can definitely hear a Wet Willie roux cooking up many of Blues Traveler's tunes.
I live in Nashville and I have seen Jimmy play around town numerous times. He’s still jamming and his pipes are still great. He recently released an album produced by Joe Bonamassa and produced this video. The entire video was recorded on Broadway among tourists who had no idea who he was. Keep on Smilin Jimmy Hall! Enjoy

I was 13 years old, my sister 13 years older than me, took me with her to Central City Park that day. It was hot as hell, it rained a LOT, the concert was postponed because of it, and Wet Willie took the stage and the rest is what you see here. I'm now 63, and I wouldn't trade my youth for any amount of money. Music these days can't hold a candle to this.
one of the greatest bands ever!
I think at Jimmy Halls age he is still great. Like the legendary guitarist he occasionally sings for, the great Jeff Beck.
Neil from Sydney Australia.
Thanks to Jeff! \o/
Someone once said "Mick Jagger wanted to be from Georgia. Jimmy Hall is from Georgia.
The lead singer reminds me a lot of Mick Jagger, voice, look, and mannerisms.
Glad it's not just me. Think he's a better singer?
@@SoulTrainBro I agree, he has superior vocal range and control.
Jimmys amazing and wet willies a great group of musicians!!FYI Jimmy blows Mic Jagger off the planet!!
Try out " Thats your Secret" by Sea Level, another underated Southern band with some Allman's roots
Grits Ain't Groceries !!!!!!
Some people called Jimmy Hall the Mick Jagger of the South. With all due respect to Mick, Jimmy was a much better singer!
The first person I ever remember hearing do that's alright little mama was Elvis Presley
He who shall remain un-named must sit around all day editing wikis with his previous reviews which are nothing but trash from Rolling Stone which is nothing but trash. I believe the Wikipedia people need to look into this as massive harassment against good known rock and roll bands.
Lol. That killed me. You put into words what I was feeling.
