I love the Pixi Tonic Waters. Retinol is my favorite and been using it for soon the past 2 years. I tried the Pixi Glow, but stung too much. Tried the Ordinary Glucolic which was even worse, so back on the Retinol from Pixi, and now trying out Kbeauty, and the famous Aloe Bha Toner from Benton(?). Much milder and better for my normal combination oily sensitive skin.
I used the Retinol and Vitamin C tonic over the last weeks, and I am pretty happy with it. Will publish some videos soon :) Yes, as I already mentioned, the Glycolic Acid and Latic Acid tend to sting on people with sensitive and so-called stinging skin types. Usually, people that have this should avoid the following ingredients: - AHA (Glycolic and Lactic Acid) - Benzoic Acid - Bronopol - Cinnamic Acid Compounds - Dowicil 200 - Formaldehyde - Propylene Glycol - Quaternary Ammonium Compounds - Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Sorbic Acid - Urea - Vitamin C I am not too fond of Kbeauty because I think that it is mainly marketing and hype. Not sure yet, have to dive deeper into that. I have never heard of Benton 🤔 Will have to look at this as well 😀
Hi Melissa! Your videos are very informative and I'm glad I got to stumble upon your channel. I'm currently using CeraVe SA renewing cleanser, can I use this Pixi glow toner after the cleanser and follow up with a 10% niacinamide and 2% alpha arbutin serum? Tia
I think the combination is too potent when doing this repeatedly. So my suggestion is to use a none exfoliating acid cleanser suitable for your skin type and the Pixi toner. It may work if you only use the toner a few times a week.
Hi, I recently discovered your channel and love your videos, and the fact that you reply all the comments! 💛 I have a question, so if I have oily skin with few/some acne, do you recommend this Cerave gentle cleanser or the Foam Cleanser to use along with Ordinary Niacinamide and Glow Tonic? I'm worried if the foam cleanser will be too harsh to use along with other exfoliating products. Just having a tough time picking the Cleanser. I was using the Keihls cleanser, it removes my make up but didn't help to reduce acne. Much appreciate your advice!
Hey 😀, The combination is excellent, and it will work, but maybe not for your concerns. This would be mainly a hydration routine that also regulates sebum and help with hyperpigmentation. It may help you with acne, but it's best to use a good face wash with Salicylic Acid or LHA. What works great for me is the La Roche Posay Micropeeling Cleanser and the Skinceuticals LHA Cleanser (Expensive but worth every dollar). It breaks down sunscreen, makeup, and everything else, and I recommend using it in the shower. Either: Cerave Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser Pixi Glow Tonic or Clarity Tonic Niacinamide Antioxidant Gel, Vitamin C ( Be careful while using Niacianmide do not use in the same routine as The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + Zinc 1%), Retinol or Pure Aloe Vera (Depending on Am or Pm) SPF (When exposed to the sun) My recommendation: AM: Skinceuticals LHA Cleanser Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner Antioxidant Gel, Vitamin C or Pure Aloe Vera SPF PM: Skinceuticals LHA Cleanser Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner Niacinamide Antioxidant Gel, Pure Aloe Vera or Retinol Or just try it to see how it goes with the combination above, and if it does not give you the results you desire, change it. It's a trial and error, and sometimes the acne is coming from hormones/stress or food. So it may be challenging to keep it at bay :)
Great review Melissa, would it be a good idea to use glow tonic with a low strength retinol in my evening routine?. I've used the Glowtonic and retinol 0.2% by TO for two evening routines and no bad reactions so far
Hey :) Thank you! You can use them together. However, if you are new to both products, I recommend keeping them separate for some time until your skin has adjusted to both of them before using them in the same routine. Use your Pixi Glow Tonic Toner in the AM and Retinol in the PM. Or both in the PM but alternate between them. The 0,2% Retinol is a low strength. However, if you are new to it, irritation can occurs days later. It doesn't have to happen, but I just want to mention it. Also, the Pixi Glow Tonic Toner contains 5% of Glycolic Acid, which exfoliates the skin, and if both are used in the same routine, it can increase the risk of getting an irritation (especially when being new to both products).
Hi Melissa! Thanks for doing these videos, very helpful and straight to the point 🙂 I have oily-combination skin and am currently using pixi glow tonic (toner) -> lancome advanced genefique youth activating concentrate (serum) -> LRP effaclar duo+ (moisturiser) Was wondering if its ok or is there any conflicting ingredients? Thanks a lot!!
Hey Melissa, I have a quick question. Do you think I use too much acids? Am salicylic acid (as a spot treatment) Azelic acid Pm Mandelic acid salicylic acid (as a spot treatment) Sometimes kojic acid soap (3x a week at night) I don’t know who to believe. Some RUclipss say that using a acid very single day is bad because then you will over-exfoliate. But I am using rosé water every single day and aloe Vera to heal from it. My skin feels and looks good so I don’t see taking breaks from it but what is your take on it since you are experienced in a lot of different acids ☺️
It’s because it is different. Nobody can tell you. And as you get older, the need for exfoliating increases. But if you are very young, you may not need it. Generally, it depends on your skin concerns. So if you do not have any skin concerns, you do not need to use an exfoliant. Or just use it every other day. I am using acid face washes in the morning and evening. LHA +BHA and Mandelic Acid seem to be very gentle to the skin and lactic acid 5 %; however, I struggle with Glycolic Acid. If I use it for a few days in a row, I tend to break out, and my skin irritates. Conclusion= Nobody, not even a dermatologist, knows what will work for your skin the best. You have to test it and see what works. See the videos + recommendations only as tips and take what works for your skin best
@@flower998-4 I'm happy that you've found a routine that works for your skin concerns! 🥰 It's always a bit difficult to tell how often you should use certain products as your skin may not work the same way/ or has the same skinconcerns as I do...You only can look for ingredients that can help with your skin concerns and find a blend with that specific ingredient that works best for your skin!😊
Hi Melissa! Hope you’re doing well! First of all thanks for the detailed video. Just came across your channel and really loved it! I have a question on the cleansing part after using pixi glycolic toner and a sunscreen. Do we need to double cleanse or just a mild cleanser that removes makeup would do? Also, if I use the pixi toner at night, can I just apply the regular toner and sunscreen the other day directly before I hit the gym?
Hey! :) If your usual cleanser is able to properly remove your sunscreen and makeup, then no. However, if it does not properly remove it, I recommend using Micellar Water first (to remove sunscreen and makeup) and then following with your regular cleanser. Yes, or just apply those products after the gym session.
Lovely video .. straight to the point and informative. Please can you do a review on the pixi retinol toner . Also can I use niacinamide serum after using the retinol pixi toner ?
Hello Melissa, I wanted to know in details about the Pixi toner. Is it good for combination skin? And why is my face having pimples all over my forehead area in summer? I use: Neutrogena cleanser The ordinary Amino Acid oil The Ordinary moisturiser Boots sleeping musk Boots eye gel The ordinary caffeine eyes fixing oil you know which one. Now I want to use the Pixi glow toner. Please tell me which one I should after which one?
You would use the toner after cleanser but before serums. You also need to keep the frequency in mind since it is a Glycolic Acid (exfoliating) toner. Generally, you should start by using it 2-3 times a week in your evening skincare routine and slowly build up a tolerance. The correct order would be: Pm1 (3times a week): Neutrogena cleanser Pixi glow tonic The Ordinary Caffeine Solution The ordinary Amino Acid The Ordinary moisturiser Pm2 (Rest of the week): Neutrogena cleanser The ordinary Amino Acid Boots Eye Gel Boots Sleeping Mask Pimples can occur for all kind of reasons, so not sure about that, but are you doing something different? Or do you have more stress? And the following videos may be interesting for you: When To Use A Toner: ruclips.net/video/J3HlRBWFMn8/видео.html How Many Times A Week Should You Exfoliate: ruclips.net/video/aTTM9xPwCjk/видео.html
I have used the Pixi Glow Tonic for years and years even before knowing proper skin care. I still have it in my skin care pile but switched to the Ordinary Glycolic acid 7% Toning solution which is obviously a lot stronger than the PIxi Glow Tonic. Now, months later and some breaking out or maybe purging on my skin, i stopped using the Ordinary's Glycolic acid for obvious reasons. I feel like it was too strong and my skin was reacting to it. BUt when i was using the Pixi Glow tonic, i feel like it was more milder and gentle to my skin (without even knowing that it was an exfoliant, lol). I've been thinking of going back to the Pixi Glow since I still have it but i am currently also using Paula's Choice 2% BHA for the first time. I like it so far and more gentle. i guess my question is, is it ok to alternate nights with the pixi glow tonic and the paula's choice BHA? what would it do to my face? or do you suggest to just stick with one exfoliant? do people normally switch AHA'S like Gycolic acid or lactic acid and BHA's on different days/nights?
Hi😊 I like the feeling of the Pixi toner but I don’t like the fragrance, it’s quite strong…I don’t mind fragrance when it’s balanced haha😂 Yes, you are right the Pixi toner is gentler than the Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner not only because of the % but also what else is in it that may be a bit gentler for the skin. How often do you use the Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner? It only makes me break out when I’m using it too often, little bumps start do appear and when I’m not using it that often or have a break from it they disappear or do not come back at all…you may want to use it less often. How often do you use the Pixi toner? Daily? I like the Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant a lot and it’s so gentle! To answer your question: “How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin. It’s fine to use both types of exfoliants (AHA and BHA) as part of your skin care routine - you can use them at the same time, alternate days of usage, or use one in the morning and one at night, depending on your preference” This is actually from the Paula’s Choice website. It makes total sense as not everyone has the same skin tolerance…some people have a very resistant skin type whereas others are a bit more sensitive😊
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial hello hello! You actually reminded me why i stopped using the Pixi glow tonic, its the fragrance, i try to keep most of my products fragrance free, the only thing left with fragrance on my skin care is the vitamin c from Ole Henriksen, i just havent found a good affordable vitamin c to replace it with. I am trying out the naturium viitamin super serum plus as a replacement but i found myself going back to the Ole henriksen for now just to finish it and not put it to waste. its such a great product if only it is fragrance free and cheaper. the Pixi glow tonic is definitely milder than the ordinary glycolic acid toner. I used to use the pixi toner day and night almost daily if i am not in a hurry with no break outs of bad reactions. or maybe i wasnt that into skin care yet that i did not really notice any huge reactions besides what it really needed to do. when i switched to the ordinary glycolic toner, i used it every other night since i also started using the Versed retinol in my routine. I introduced both slowly of course but i am still not sure if i had the reaction from the ordinary glycolic acid coz its too strong or from introducing retinol in my routine which i read a lot that purging is normal with retinol since it helps with the skin turn over. i also noticed about 4-5 white bumps around my upper cheek bones when i started using it and have stopped for almost a month now using the ordinary glycolic acid but have been using it on my dark elbows and experimenting using it with my armpits as well and i have seen good results. The Paula's choice BHA exfoliant is really gentle although i have not seen a dramatic changed on my skin since i started using it about 3-4 weeks ago so far. i use it every other night or so and have been curious introducing AHA's again in between nights specifically the lactic acid which i know is milder than the glyocolic toner from the ordinary. i liked the lactic acid when i was using it before. i should have stayed using it and did not switch to the ordinary glycolic toner. i've also stopped using the buffet from the ordinary which is one of my favorites but recently started using it on nights that i want to take a break from AHA's and BHA's since i read that peptides like the Buffet does not mix well with strong acids. also an update for you, i pulled back on using so much products although it still sounds a lot from what i have written so far lol, i want to hear your feedback on my new routine. AM: cleanser - or most times just wash my face with water since i've been consistent with my PM routines. calmiing toner that you recommended from Paula's choice the oridary Alpha arbutin for my dark spots and hyper pigmentation from all the break outs vitamin c - either naturium or ole henriksen that i am finishing like i said earlier HA moisturizer from the ordinary Purito SPF or Versed SPF PM: squalene cleanser from the ordinary double cleanse with the ordinary hydrating cleanser or SA solution or Paulas choice gentle cleanser (depends on what my skin needs) Paulas Chouce calming toner BHA from paulas choice (might alternate with the ordinary Lactic Acid) the ordinary Buffet every now and them (when i need a break from AHA's and BHA's) Niacinamide from the ordianry (cant live without it) Retinol (no AHA's, BHA's, Buffet when i use this) HA moisturizer from the ordinary eye cream from Naturium (if i am feeling extra lol) yes, i know, its still a lot. but one thing that i am taking a break from is a use of straight Hyaluronic acid) i feel like it is doing the opposite of what needs to do for me. I think i am over hydrating since my other products already have HA's. I read a lot that sometimes if you use straight HA's a lot then it might need be good for hydration depending on climate and surroundings. thanks for reading all this if you did. lol. hope to hear back!
@@ChaChaDiaries Hey!🤗 I guess RUclips needs to get better at the comment section! It’s so sad that they do not really have a “live chat here” haha😂 Well, yes..that’s what I do not like about the Glow Tonic as well! But yes, it is gentler than the Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution. You’ve mentioned something interesting! - that you sometimes need a break of AHA and/or BHA and yes, I think that at some point your skin is so “clean and well exfoliated” that it may irritated the skin rather than improving the skin because your skin is at that point where you may over-exfoliate. What Vitamin C serums/creams have you tried so far? I’ve never tried the Ole henriksen one but I’ve heard people talking about it. Have you seen some improvements? Yes, Retinol can cause purging, especially when you’re new to it! The skin needs time to adjust to it, that’s why I recommend starting with the lowest or Retinoids at first before moving on to Retinol. Buffet has conflicts with pure forms of Vitamin C and acids like glycolic, lactic, Salicylic Acid etc, so yes, it’s best to not use them in the same routine😊 The routine you listed looks great! I do not feel the need to change anything about it! Do you like the Paula’s Choice Toner?😊
Can I use nicanamkde after pixi glow tonic? Also I’m always confused about all the active ingredients I can include in the night. You’re so amazing at deciding skincare. I’m hoping to speak to you one day
Yes, you can! It's only an issue if you use The Ordinary Niacinamide Powder, which can conflict. But as long as you have a serum, it will not matter, and you can use it after your Pixi toner :) And thank you 🥰
Yes, however, it would be ideal to use your exfoliant in the PM. From my experience, it can lead to sensitivities depending on the sunscreen you use on top of it.
Hi melissa thanks for another informative video. My question is can i use this Pixie glow tonic with my "axis y dark spot serum", it has 5% niacinamide. I would use the tonic first then the axis y serum. Then finish it off with a moisturizer. Would this routine work for PM.
Hello, I found four channel a few weeks ago... totally in awe of your knowledge on skincare. My question to you is.... I’m new to chemical exfoliation and I have dry skin. Firstly, would you recommend Pixi glow tonic for my skin type? Secondly, can the glow tonic and Pixi peel & polish scrub be used together in the same routine? Say PM routine? If not Pixi, can I use a scrub and toner combination of any brand that fall under chemical exfoliation? Are there any side effects? Please guide.
You can use those in combination just make sure that you use a gentle scrub. Here is a great article about this: www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/cleansers/to-scrub-or-not-to-scrub.html And you can use Pixi Glow Tonic for your skintype it includes Glycolic Acid which is good for dry skin. See here: www.paulaschoice.de/en/all-about-exfoliants
Hi there 👋. First time using this toner and it is kind of confusing. Can I a mix the Pixi Glicolic toner with Vit c and arbutin ? Or at night with Niacinamine and Retinol. Thanks in advanced.
It's a Glycolic Acid toner, which is an exfoliating acid. Therefore, do not use it with Retinol. I would recommend using it in the evening. You could use Vitamin C + Arbutin in the morning before your sunscreen, and in the evening, use the Pixi toner with Niacinamide or Niacinamide with Retinol.
How Melissa! Came across ur videos and they r great! I use Cerave foam wash Cerave cream and Laroche posay sunscreen as my mornings routine.. I have combination skin and dark spots.. which acid do u recommend to clean these spots.. thanks
Hello 😃 You can use Glycolic Acid if you like. Or you can use Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) Paula's Choice Vitamin C 15 Booster or a more affordable alternative is Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow.
Im asking as im not sure if this will collide with glow tonic properties.. as i heard Ordinary Buffet does collide and thus i stopped using it while using Glow Tonic
Ah yes, it's because some peptides can break down when used with AHA or BHA, but Hyaluronic Acid is not an issue. It only is there for hydration and skin repair :)
hello, i just got this and the glow tonic serum , can i use them everydsy in my morning routine or no? my night routine is skin cycling , exfoliation with effaclar serum and effaclar duo, adapalene and 2 days cicaplast skin healing. is it better to just not use it?
The Effaclar serum also contains 3,5% of Glycolic Acid, 1,5% of Salicylic Acid and a bit of LHA, so I think adding the Pixi toner is unnecessary and only causes issues over the long haul. If you use it, I suggest that you alternate.
Hey Melissa! I just found your channel and I was wondering if I could use the pixi glow tonic with La Roche Posay's Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser and their Double Repair Face Moisturiser or the Sephora Nourishing Moisturizer? Would it contradict each other? Because I've heard that glycolic doesn't mix well with niacinamide and the La Roche Posay products contain that ingredient. I don't think the sephora one has niacinamide though. Thank you! :)
Yeah, that's a myth 😞 or it isn't explained well enough. There is always this article on Google that pops up, and many people are reading it without doing more research, and then it spreads like wildfire. It is only a concern if you mix pure Niacinamide with an acid. So let's say you take the Niacinamide powder from the ordinary and mix it with Glycolic Acid. Then, after a while, it can turn the Niacinamide into another substance, leading to irritation. However, if you use stabilised products in the formulation itself (e.g., The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% or a moisturizer with Niacinamide), it is not causing any issues. Therefore you can layer basically any well formulated product with Niacinamide after Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid etc. 😃
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial oh wow!! I had no idea about that! Thank you so so much for your reply! It’s extremely helpful! I can’t thank you enough! I hope your channel blows up, it’s helping so many people! Happy new year :)
Can I use pixi glow tonic and AHA BHA PHA serum together everyday????? And can I use the ordinary toner 3 times per weak at evening And pixi glow tonic at morning every day ??
Well, this depends on what your skin can tolerate and the overall formulation. Since some formulation a bit gentler even though it mentions the same % on it and others a bit stronger because they may not include as many "buffering" ingredients.
Hi.. I have oily skin I use Cera ve Foaming Cleanser Twice a day Followed by Pixi Glow Tonic at Night.. Can i add Alpha Arbutin 2% to my routine at night?? After the Toner??Please Guide
Hi. I’m 15 and curious as to which tonic from PIXI would be best for me. I have sensitive and also sorta combination skin? My skin after applying moisturiser looks shiny and oily, even after I’ve let the moisturiser soak in for quite a while so I’m also yet to find a moisturiser that works to. Any suggestions for which tonic would be best for me and any kind of moisturiser?
Since you are 15 I do not see any benefits in using this toner unless you have sun-damaged skin or dark spots you need to improve. But since this is Glycolic Acid, it can easily irritate sensitive skin. So my advice would be to use a PHA toner instead(if you really think an exfoliant is needed), Or use a Salicylic Acid cleanser and alternate with your regular cleanser. And you do not necessarily need a moisturiser only if your skin is dry, but if that is not the case, just skip it and only use a suitable cleanser for your needs. Great examples are The Inkey List SA Cleanser and The Inkey List PHA Toner. But you can, of course, pick other brands; these are just two products I personally like, and they are also fragrance free so that may benefit your sensitive skin as well :)
Hi Melissa! I have oily dehydrated skin, I recently bought pixi glow tonic and Paula’s choice BHA. Am so confused how to incorporate them in my skincare AM/PM routine. Pls guide 🥺 thank you x
Hm, Glycolic Acid isn't the best for oily skin. From my experience, it makes it even more oily unless it includes other ingredients that are beneficial for oily skin. However, you can alternate and use them on different days. So that's how I would do it. How often you use an AHA/BHA product will depend on your personal tolerance for these products. Start with 2-3 times per week and adjust the frequency according to your skin's response. Also you are planning on using it during daytime do not forget to layer sunscreen on top when exposed to the sun, because it can make the skin sensitive to the sun.

Yes, you can. Yes, there is no need to wash it off. If you feel that it is too strong, use it less often or what you also can do is use it as a mask, leave it on for 5-15minuten and wash it off.
Hmm, I suggest using them on alternate days or at different times of the day, as using them together may be too irritating after a while. The Phytosolution contains 2% salicylic acid (BHA), while the Pixi Glow Tonic has 5% glycolic acid (AHA).

Yeah, you need to figure that out for yourself; it depends on many factors, but primarily your age. So if you are around my age 25, I recommend not overdoing it and using them only a few times a week, unless you have really stubborn skin concerns that you want to treat. But if you are 30+, it may work well when alternating them! :)

I agree, but there isn't a massive range, especially not in the affordable/drugstore sector. The best gel moisturizer with antioxidants that I have tried so far (for my oily t-zone) is the Facetheory Oil-Free Moisturizer. I haven't come across any others that work so well. Or maybe just add pure Aloe vera, it tends to work very well on oily skin!

You are already using a Glycolic Acid serum, so there is no need to use Pixi's Glycolic Acid Toner. Just use one of them. PM: - Oil Cleanser - Glycolic Acid Face Wash - Pixi Glycolic Acid Toner or L'Oreal Glycolic Acid Serum (NOT both) - Moisturizer
Hm, I have no idea where to put this snail essence 😆 There isn't much reliable information. But since it is an essence, it may be best to use it before the Niacinamide. Ultimately you need to test it and see what works best for your skin. :)
I do not recommend using them in the same routine since Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid are both AHA's that exfoliate the skin. So, use either Lactic Acid or the Pixi Glycolic Acid Toner in one routine :) You're fine to use either Lactic Acid or the Pixi Glycolic Acid Toner before applying Niacinamide :)
It may work, but I wouldn't layer them. Instead, I recommend mixing them so that you do not need to use a lot of product. Similar to what I showed here: ruclips.net/video/A9Qwh2l3SL0/видео.html (13:41)

@@safrafaizer5479 Well, that is not very long, so I would still give it more time. It depends; what are your skin concerns? Personally, I think it's essential to take care of your skin when you are young. But you do not need a massive regimen, but finding the right products is necessary.
Hello Melissa! Great video ad always!! I would like to ask you which of the following I can use after the pixi glow toner: arbutin, Niacinamide, buffet. Thank you in advance!!!
Yes, it has 5% Glycolic Acid, which helps to smoothen the skin texture and helps to improve surface hyperpigmentation. It's ideal for normal to dry skin. So if these are your concerns, it will help you when used regularly! :)
I can't remember the period after opening, but I think it was 12months. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Period-after-opening_symbol#:~:text=The%20period%2Dafter%2Dopening%20symbol,number%20of%20months%20or%20years.
I mentioned already an AM and PM routine a while back based on you concerns, have you read that? However, since you've mentioned your specific concerns, have a look at this: AM: Cleanser (suitable for your skin type) Hyaluronic Acid Alpha Arbutin Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone SPF Or like the two in one: Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% PM: Cleanser (suitable for your skin type) Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide Mandelic Acid (Optional) Natural Moisturizing Factors If you still have active acne, you may want to look into acne treatment as Niacinamide is not an acne treatment, it only can help you to reduce the look of blemishes. Hope, this helps!😊
Hi, I have used the pixy glow tonic for about 1weeks. but i got acne on my forehead after that. my acne is turn red, big bumps and its hurt to touched. is that purging or breakout? 😭
You should not do this. When using it for the first time, use it every other day in the beginning and see how your skin responds to it. If everything is fine and feels good, it can be applied daily.
Hii, im a guy i don't have a lot of acne but this tiny bumps is my problem i just bought this stuff just wondering what should i add in my routine AM Cerave SA Renewing Cleanser Niacinamide From The Ordinary THE Ordinary Peeling Solution Should i add lactic Acid instead of Retinol?
Hm, you can try with the products that you have, see how it goes, and add other products if you feel the need. You can use the peeling solution once or twice a week; for more information about that, you can watch this video: How to Apply The Ordinary 30% AHA + 2% BHA Peeling Solution with Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin: ruclips.net/video/alyaPIaMLs4/видео.html Generally speaking, if you do not have acne, there may be no need to add other products. Still, it may be best to add an excellent exfoliating cleanser such as the La Roche Posay Micropeeling Cleanser or the best option = Skinceuticals LHA cleanser. However, you cannot use those in combination with the peeling solution. Also, if you are looking for a moisturizer, look for Aloe Vera or Green Tea. For example, a pure Aloe Vera gel or the Facetory Oil free moisturizer works very well.
hye dear im new to your channel too like others 🌹 found it really good i have a question with toner pixi with moisturiser would be best for combination skin ? im confused in my country there is no la roche posay products is it ok to use olay white day cream 🫣
If available, you could use The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (ruclips.net/video/dW5aOtNYPd8/видео.html). That one is very simple and works great on combination skin. But generally, CeraVe Ultra-Light PM Lotion (ruclips.net/video/DCNPsTk0g30/видео.html) works also well.
Fantastic product. I'll never be without it again.
I love the Pixi Tonic Waters. Retinol is my favorite and been using it for soon the past 2 years. I
tried the Pixi Glow, but stung too much.
Will publish some videos soon :)
Yes, as I already mentioned, the Glycolic Acid and Latic Acid tend to sting on people with sensitive and so-called stinging skin types. Usually, people that have this should avoid the following ingredients:
- AHA (Glycolic and Lactic Acid)
- Benzoic Acid
- Bronopol
- Cinnamic Acid Compounds
- Dowicil 200
- Formaldehyde
- Propylene Glycol
- Quaternary Ammonium Compounds
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Sorbic Acid
- Urea
- Vitamin C
I am not too fond of Kbeauty because I think that it is mainly marketing and hype. Not sure yet, have to dive deeper into that. I have never heard of Benton 🤔 Will have to look at this as well 😀
I really needed this one ... Thank u mellss ♥️♥️💝

This was super informative and helpful ☺️ thanks!!!
Thank you! :)
Hey 😀,
The combination is excellent, and it will work, but maybe not for your concerns.
Either:
Cerave Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser
Pixi Glow Tonic or Clarity Tonic
Niacinamide
Antioxidant Gel, Vitamin C ( Be careful while using Niacianmide do not use in the same routine as The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + Zinc 1%), Retinol or Pure Aloe Vera (Depending on Am or Pm)
SPF (When exposed to the sun)
My recommendation:
AM:
Skinceuticals LHA Cleanser
Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner
Antioxidant Gel, Vitamin C or Pure Aloe Vera
SPF
PM:
Skinceuticals LHA Cleanser
Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner
Niacinamide
Antioxidant Gel, Pure Aloe Vera or Retinol
Or just try it to see how it goes with the combination above, and if it does not give you the results you desire, change it. It's a trial and error, and sometimes the acne is coming from hormones/stress or food. So it may be challenging to keep it at bay :)
Thank you very much, I am new to the skin care world
Great review Melissa, would it be a good idea to use glow tonic with a low strength retinol in my evening routine?. I've used the Glowtonic and retinol 0.2% by TO for two evening routines and no bad reactions so far
Hey :)
Thank you!
Can I use The Ordinary 'Hyalauronic Acid' + NIacinamide after this Pixi Glow Tonic?
yes you can :)
Hey! :)
Your routine looks great! You can use all of them in the same routine :)
How is it going i have the same skin type as urs update us
Hey Melissa, I have a quick question. Do you think I use too much acids?
Am
salicylic acid (as a spot treatment)
Azelic acid
Pm
Mandelic acid
salicylic acid (as a spot treatment)
Sometimes kojic acid soap (3x a week at night)
I don’t know who to believe.
It's always a bit difficult to tell how often you should use certain products as your skin may not work the same way/ or has the same skinconcerns as I do...You only can look for ingredients that can help with your skin concerns and find a blend with that specific ingredient that works best for your skin!😊
Hey! :)
If your usual cleanser is able to properly remove your sunscreen and makeup, then no. However, if it does not properly remove it, I recommend using Micellar Water first (to remove sunscreen and makeup) and then following with your regular cleanser.
Yes, or just apply those products after the gym session.

Thanks for the video darling. Please I want to know if I can apply Retinol & Niacinamide Anti Wrinkle Serum, after applying Glow Tonic?
What Retinol Serum do you use?
Hello Melissa, I wanted to know in details about the Pixi toner. Is it good for combination skin? And why is my face having pimples all over my forehead area in summer?
I use:
Neutrogena cleanser
The ordinary Amino Acid oil
The Ordinary moisturiser
Boots sleeping musk
Boots eye gel
The ordinary caffeine eyes fixing oil you know which one.
The correct order would be:
Pm1 (3times a week):
Neutrogena cleanser
Pixi glow tonic
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution
The ordinary Amino Acid
The Ordinary moisturiser
Pm2 (Rest of the week):
Neutrogena cleanser
The ordinary Amino Acid
Boots Eye Gel
Boots Sleeping Mask
Pimples can occur for all kind of reasons, so not sure about that, but are you doing something different? Or do you have more stress?

Hi😊
I like the feeling of the Pixi toner but I don’t like the fragrance, it’s quite strong…I don’t mind fragrance when it’s balanced haha😂
Yes, you are right the Pixi toner is gentler than the Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner not only because of the % but also what else is in it that may be a bit gentler for the skin.
To answer your question:
“How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin.
It’s fine to use both types of exfoliants (AHA and BHA) as part of your skin care routine - you can use them at the same time, alternate days of usage, or use one in the morning and one at night, depending on your preference”
This is actually from the Paula’s Choice website. It makes total sense as not everyone has the same skin tolerance…some people have a very resistant skin type whereas others are a bit more sensitive😊
Melissa Van Dijk Pixi says that all their toners can be used in the morning and evening.
AM:
cleanser - or most times just wash my face with water since i've been consistent with my PM routines.
calmiing toner that you recommended from Paula's choice
the oridary Alpha arbutin for my dark spots and hyper pigmentation from all the break outs
vitamin c - either naturium or ole henriksen that i am finishing like i said earlier
HA moisturizer from the ordinary
Purito SPF or Versed SPF
PM:
squalene cleanser from the ordinary
double cleanse with the ordinary hydrating cleanser or SA solution or Paulas choice gentle cleanser (depends on what my skin needs)
Paulas Chouce calming toner
BHA from paulas choice (might alternate with the ordinary Lactic Acid)
the ordinary Buffet every now and them (when i need a break from AHA's and BHA's)
Niacinamide from the ordianry (cant live without it)
Retinol (no AHA's, BHA's, Buffet when i use this)
HA moisturizer from the ordinary
eye cream from Naturium (if i am feeling extra lol)
yes, i know, its still a lot. but one thing that i am taking a break from is a use of straight Hyaluronic acid) i feel like it is doing the opposite of what needs to do for me. I think i am over hydrating since my other products already have HA's. I read a lot that sometimes if you use straight HA's a lot then it might need be good for hydration depending on climate and surroundings.
thanks for reading all this if you did. lol. hope to hear back!

@@ChaChaDiaries Hey!🤗

Well, yes..that’s what I do not like about the Glow Tonic as well!
Buffet has conflicts with pure forms of Vitamin C and acids like glycolic, lactic, Salicylic Acid etc, so yes, it’s best to not use them in the same routine😊
The routine you listed looks great! I do not feel the need to change anything about it!

Perfect. What about using a serum! It will be after which step!
It's applied after the Glycolic Acid toner, but before the moisturizer.

After Pixi Glow Tonic, can i use Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 serum followed by a Moisturizer?
Im asking as im not sure if this will collide with glow tonic properties.. as i heard Ordinary Buffet does collide and thus i stopped using it while using Glow Tonic
Ah yes, it's because some peptides can break down when used with AHA or BHA, but Hyaluronic Acid is not an issue. It only is there for hydration and skin repair :)
thanks for this helpful video..
😊
hello, i just got this and the glow tonic serum , can i use them everydsy in my morning routine or no? my night routine is skin cycling , exfoliation with effaclar serum and effaclar duo, adapalene and 2 days cicaplast skin healing. is it better to just not use it?

Hii! I've been watching your videos for a while now and they're very helpful and entertaining! I have a question if u don't mind.
Do u think my skincare routine is too much for a teen? I'm 17 years old. Please help mee! 💞
This is my routine:
morning
1. Naturium Alpha Arbutin Serum
2. Wishtrend or Maelove Vitamin c
3. FAB coconut water moisturizer
4. Drmtlgy sunscreen

1. Vanicream cleanser
(2. Aha or Bha exfoliant 2x a week)
3. Hada labo Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion
3. Mugwort Essence
4. Naturium Azelaic Acid
5. Iunik moisturizer
Hello, 😀 Great to hear.
Well, I am not sure about this. How are you dealing with the routine? What were your skin concerns, and have you seen some improvements?
But to be honest, I don't even know most of the products you are using 😞 , but if you feel that it works well for your skin needs, you can continue to do so.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I struggle with very dull skin and congestion. I'm just afraid that I'm doing too much but I'm not too sure if I am. I heard people say teens should only have a super simple routine.

I agree a simple routine works best it does not matter if you are old or young. However, you need to use the right products for your skin concerns; otherwise, it will not help :)
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial It did but I don't know if it is making my skin more sensitive or not. 😊💞

PM:

Hyaluronic Acid
Niacinamide
