After buying a Mark 23, a USP 45 and a USP Tactical in 40 I never thought I'd go back to buying "cheap" handguns, but then I came across the SFX Rival Dark Side. A week later I bought the other variant of it, too. Kicking off a new obsession!
I just ordered the (unadvertised) METE SF which is the 15 round 4.1" version sized closer to the Glock 19. I don't understand why they aren't being advertised, but I'm glad I found it!
Pickked one up. There is virtually no info on either of Canik's sites. Saw it at the shop, same profile as the G19. In case you did not know Canik has a rebate offer, 3 18round mags for new METE purchases so make sure you send in the form.
I appreciate this comparison because it is virtually my same gun choices. I purchased the Glock 23 (40 cal.) Gen 4 (which is the same form factor as the Gen 19) quite a while ago. I chose the 40 cal. bullet for hitting power. However, I now have arthritis in my right thumb and the jolt was killing me when I practiced with it. The grip was always too wide for my small hands and I never got used to the sharp edge of the trigger safety. I did a number of upgrades to improve the gun including a new trigger. Better but not great for me. Finally told myself that was enough and traded the gun in and bought a Canik Mete SFT. Fabulous gun. Much much much better trigger comfort, the grip is narrower and my finger "purchases" the trigger much more comfortably. Its a slightly heavier gun and its 9mm so there is less kick even with 124 grain ammo. Very stable shooter. Very very happy with this gun and highly recommend it.
Conceal carry the 43x but I gotta tell ya, if I know ahead time I'm walking into a possible scenario I'm putting on my METE SFT. That platform with a holosun on it is amazing when it comes to shot placement. I can't miss with that bad boy. And the trigger on the canik is far superior.
I agree with you about iron sights on conceal carry guns. This trend of raised optics on subcompact 9mm carry guns is the most rediculous crock of nonsense I have ever seen.
I wouldn’t say that if u can put 12 shots on a nickel at 45feet fast as u can.. just sayin, but what I will say is u should learn both and have set ups with in each configuration
Bought a canik mete sft as first pistol. No complaints other than wishing the mag release was a little more protruded, but there is ways to do that. Put about 1000 rounds through it so far and it just feels nice. All my friends geek on the trigger has a nice even pull with noticeable wall which eases up (and gets even smoother) over use and the rest is super short. Glock 19x is nice also. I just prefer a full sized grip.
Did it not come with different length mag releases. I don’t have a mete yet (the mete sft pro should be here Thursday), but others I have came with 3 different length mag release buttons
If you are speaking about out of the box striker fire triggers, I agree the Canik and Walther PPQ are among the best. My favorite aftermarket and overall best feeling striker fire triggers are the Apex trigger on the S&W S&P 2.0 and the Timney trigger on the Glock 19 or 17.
I love my Glocks. I bought the Cantik sft a few weeks ago, and it is a super nice shooter. Would I bet my life on it vs. my Glock? No. The only reason I say this is because nobody knows yet if Cantik will still fire and function after it's 20 years old. Glocks have proven that they will. Great video brother 👍
Are you sure Canik is much fatter? Glock's slide is thinner than the frame, while Canick's is the same. Changing the slides is not very correct. In any case, both pistols are good. Thanks for the great review.
There is NO comparison: the Canik wipes the floor with the Glock! Warning, do not shoot a Canik before other pistols you take to the range. It will ruin your experience with the other pistol. I have a Canik METE SFT Pro and the trigger break and reset are ridiculously good.
Police officers miss A LOT of shots with Glock pistols. Seasoned cops blame Glock's heavy trigger pull with a creep. That is why more and more police agencies are getting new handguns other than Glock across the nation. With the adoption of the Sig Sauer M17 and M18 as the sidearm of the US Armed Forces, more civilians are buying the Sig Sauer P320 and X series. The Walther PDP and Canik METE SFT and SFX Rival are also very popular; not to ignore the H&K VP9, Beretta APX Gen 2, S&W M&P 2.0 Metal, Arex Delta Gen 2, Shadow Systems DR 920, FN 509 Tactical, Steyr M9 A2, IWI Masada, Palmetto State Dagger, and so forth. Let's face it: Glock is not the "king" anymore, it has plenty of fierce competition.
G19 tried and true. I don’t try to recreate the wheel. But it doesn’t really matter. Be responsible and regularly train with what you decide is best for you. Let’s go Brandon!
My preference is the Glock 19. Have carried and trained with the G19 for years before I switched to carrying the 1911 in .45 acp. At one point, I had four Glock 19’s, three Gen 5’s and one Gen 4. I shot the snot out of them. They always went “bang” when I wanted them to. I only switched to 1911’s as I wanted a more traditional steel carry gun in .45 and now carry a government sized Kimber and a Springfield Armory. If I ever had to switch to a go-to-war 9mm, it would be the Glock 19.

They're addictive
They aren’t cheap. They are inexpensive. The word cheap makes people think low quality

The ergonomics on canik is great

They have the best trigger of any striker fired pistol in my opinion.
@@BoomStickTactical agreed my friend.

I'm not a fan of them. Learn to use irons and you will be fine
"ridiculous"
Good set of irons or even night sites is better, no batteries to go dead on you. Plus the metal ones are far more durable.

I too got the sft as my first. Cheers
I have a Glock 19 Gen 4, been a great pistol, but after handling a Canik METR SF… I’m thinkin it time to switch up.
Both are great. Canik is making some great guns.

Canik triggers are one of the best out of the box
I own a Glock 19 Gen 3. It is the most reliable semiauto firearm I have ownwd in 30 years. I hear good things about Caniks.
100%.
Both are great
I prefer CANIK for home defense, Glock for EDC because i know i used both
Both are great
I’m 75 yrs. old and I can’t see my front sight anymore. I have red or green dots on most of my pistols now. It has made my scores go way up.
You might also try XS Big dot sights aa well. They're a very high visibility sight.
holy moses ur hands are big.. that g19 looks like a 1:3 scale toy
Thats why I'm picky about the guns I get
I was thinking the same thing.. that 19 looks tiny in his hands.. I thought he was a giant.
try the Walther pdp trigger.
I looked at one of those themother day. Very nice.

I think they will be fine. It's a proven technology
@BoomStickTactical I'm sure your right but I'm too old to be around to find out, so, I'll still carry my Glocks! Lol 😆
Will the Glock 19 barrel fit in the Canik Mete SFT??
No
Try the canik SFT 4.2” it’s a closer to the Glock
This is the sft
The 4.19" barrel is the SF

Canik has the best trigger for a striker fired pistol.
I love my Mete sft. Have a glock 45 now because of my company and their dumbass gun list. But my canik is so much better!!
Canik has the best trigger
@@BoomStickTactical Hands Down!!!

Yes but people who regularly shoot like the feeling of a better trigger

Hard to beat a Glock 19
Interesting On the 1911 switch. I’m eyeing to buy my first one now
