Thanks Keith. Still blows me away the day you told me you were shipping me over one of these cars. I promise episode 2 will be just as entertaining. Thank you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY my friend.
Congrats on the cool gift from Keith, he is a great guy! I love the paint job on it and it would look even better with the body from Revive RC on it. The stock on is too round and bulbous to look great in any paint scheme! It did look good out on the track and was going good until the failures. Glad you had stuff on hand to get it back up and going. Looking forward to seeing the upgrades on it and to see if they make a difference on the track.
Thank you for the message Adam. I may be one of the only people out there who like the body on this car. I don't love the box art design so I went with my own design. The revive body is cool but I'm less worried about the shapes of a body and more of interest to how the car performs out on a proper race track. I love the way the car came out this far but wait till you see episode #2
Haha Keith must of sent mine 2nd class hasn't arrived yet? Love the paint job Jason you made the body look more slimline nice job! Great to see it in action in stock too and looked great out there. I think the TD4 is a great design and pat on the back tamiya for doing something different! I love the link to the past regarding names too! More of that the merrier! Great stuff buddy. Cheers James.
Great gift awesome video, Keith's a very generous person who loves this hobby to the core👍. Great to see it running on such a beautiful track even with the very rare Australian puddle making a day view 🤣😂👍👍
I see you experienced all the issues that everyone talked about... Dog bones popping out and the stripped T nut... unfortunate but its cool that Keith gave you all the hop up parts. I did some of the basic upgrades on mine, which make a big difference and absolutely love the TD4. While not aesthetically appealing in looks lol.... I do love it for the way it drives for me.
Its like every vintage r/c I have ever set down on a race track. A little tuning and set up can achieve the best results. Many of us raced back in the 80's with somewhat archaic gear. AM crystal radios, sloppy weak servos, 1200 mah nicads, rock hard tyres, early esc's that would be too easy to blow up and so many other early design issues of the old cars that really needed a bit of R & D to get these old cars to work. In our modern times we are so spoilt. People forget where we all started.
Excellent video👍 yep what happened to your super avante happened to mine😮 my first track day lasted all of 20 seconds both the diff nuts stripped but the annoying thing was the parts weren’t available so it sat on the shelf for best part of six weeks until the hop-up parts arrived but it’s all good now😊
With such a diverse pool of interesting cars from different manufacturers Im sure most of have our likes and dislikes. I was just glad to be able to build one and marvel at some of the cool idea of which I will be addressing in episode 2 of the Super Avante
Awesome stuff. Keith really seems to be good people. I watch his channel and enjoy it. The TD4, I like the chassis, the body is something only its mother could love, you did a good job on yours though. It did look like it pushed in corners a little.
Sadly the diff issues being loose from the T nut and the dog bone up front popping out made for very difficult driving. Lets see how it goes on its next time out.
It's been a love/hate relationship with mine. Before they came out with the metal beval gear hop-up, my rear bevel gears disintegrated. Pieces traveled down eating up the idler and the diff, where I had a nice TA06 oil unit set up. Had to order a lot of new parts. Then it happened again, except up front this time! I even had the slipper hopup and was running on loose dirt. Now it's got the metal bevels. So far, so good...after cvd and diff nut hop ups...😅 I also put those tamiya aeration dampers on, they feel sooo nice 🤌
I’m just happy you guys are collaborating so we get even more great videos 😃 I’m really disappointed in myself for not buying the new Avante yet it’s just that every time i get close something else pops up on EBay 😆
Its a great thing that Keith and I connected over this hobby. Glenn introduced us about a year ago and we get along great. I value all the friendships that get made in the hobby
It was a very last minute dash to Castle Hill from the central coast one morning as their was a brief window before the rain was set to return. I wish I had brought my transponder but totally forgot it
Awsome footage, great to see one getting used. I was very tempted to get one and run it against the modern cars at the club. But couldnt afford to drop that much money on one. Will be waiting for more from you and the car in the future. And that track looks awsome by the way 👌
@@Bormac073 i can see why, not full of 20 foot high jump 😂 nice and flowing with some sweet kickers 👍 we dont really have the weather in the uk for tracks like that. And sadly a lot of tracks are indoor carpet now. But still call it off road 🤔
@@Bormac073 ahhh it hailed at Bella Vista and Quakers Hill on Thursday. Thought it may of at the track, but you probably wouldn't of known anyhow haha. Good bit of video as always. We tried to do tracking video with our Drone AIR2S, to follow my cars, but it loses them due to being too small an object, so had to do manual footage too haha
The Super Avante is indeed a great car, thank you for the video!
Looks great!
Your running video looks better then Tamiya’s. Great to see the TD4 on Castle Hill.
Thanks Keith. Still blows me away the day you told me you were shipping me over one of these cars. I promise episode 2 will be just as entertaining. Thank you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY my friend.
Keith is such an awesome guy
Keith has been a great friend. This is for certain.
Keith is such a lovely guy!! Looks a great track - awesome video!
Thank you and yes its great to make such good mates in the hobby

Paint and wheels make it look a ton better already.
Love the paint scheme mate👍
Cheers and thank you. I wanted something very unique from all the other offerings out there.
A lot of people talk down about these but personally I think they’re great looking buggies
I agree. They aren't bad. A challenge to build and work with yes. But they are a fun concept from tamiya
looks are what pay the bills for tamiya .... performance is a distant second
Amazing! Love the paint work and looks like you have given it a good test run dude 🙌🏻
Haha Keith must of sent mine 2nd class hasn't arrived yet?

Keith and I have been in regular contact over the past year or so. He's a tops guy

We are spoilt to have the tracks we do here.
Great livery & footage. Thanks for sharing!
Thankyou Merjin

Tamiya dropped the ball on this one.
Thanks for showing it running. Althought I'm not a fan of it, I enjoyed watching it.

Nothing is impossible with modern cars. We can alter or repair and keep them out there driving around.

Looks Great 😊
Thank you Adam. I wanted to do my own thing with this car and part 2 of the the TD4 will be cool.
Well done on the video Jason and very kind of Keith to send the kit to you.
Were you timing the laps?
Bring on part 2!

The Castle Hill track is very cool. Its a favourite for many of us vintage racers.

I do boxart on all my Japanese cars.
Yes you can BUT I'm a vintage racer and we like doing our own thing.
What motor did you put in it? How you going to get the TD2?
10.5 brushless.
Nice gift Jas! Track looks pretty good man! Howzit currently with the heavy hail and rain last week?
Hi Stu. I have not seen hail where I'm at however rain seems to come and go (as usual) but it's been ok

You know you can get a slipper clutch for it.
I sure do know that. Be watching for the next video Brad 👍
