These are great pistols. I love my Browning High Power Practical. I bought mine new back in 1993. It came with 2) 13 round mags and may have been made a year or more earlier. It's basically an upgraded Mark III with rubber grips, adjustable sites, and a 2 tone finish
I have a 1983 manufacture P35. Super great shooter. Only issue is it is persnickety with magazines. I've found any mag for a P35 prior to the late 80's often works fine. The newer mags, not so much. And Lord forbid I ever need to replace the original grips. They ain't cheap. Thanks again, Shep!
Have had similar problems with my old WWII Hi-Power. Browning/FN made magazines work fine in it, but aftermarket magazines like Mec-Gar and ProMag don`t work all that well. But that`s not a problem with the gun, that`s the quality problem of the magazines.
MecGar improved the magazines from 13 to 15 cartridges. If you have a new and an old side by side you can see that the new one is straight walled while the old ones has indentations about 3/4 inch at the base. Also if you disassemble the two, the new one has a flat follower while the old has two protruding 'leg' extensions. The changes make room for the 2 more rounds. Why FN did not do it the MecGar way as early as 1935 is an unanswered mystery.
I know some of the BHs have a circular skeletonized hammer instead of the spur hammer. Is a Mark III accurate if it has the circular skeletonized hammer? I have a Mark III clone with the circular hammer.
The shape of the hammer has no effect on accuracy. Some people prefer the round hammer because they are less likely to snag on clothing. Some prefer the spur hammer because it give easier control cocking and lowering the hammer.
The officer who owned this gun is kind of young. And while our young officers are well trained with firearms, they are trained with double action and/or striker fired autos. He may not have been familiar with single action autos. Just a guess.
Do you still get hammerbite? Whit the old ones you did. Here in Denmark you have to get a longer barrel in the the gun before you can get legally, because the minimum length is 21 cm. And only shooting on a range,no carry. Which is a good thing in my opinion.
I just bought a newly made inglis l9a1 from sds imports and it is put together better and looks better than just about every other hi power i have seen and it was only $414. Not a single mim part on it
In a way, you could say that the P35 Hi-Power and 1911 are the "revolvers" of semi-auto pistols. Supposedly obsolete, but more popular with shooters today than ever. Just as revolvers supposedly became "Obsolete" over 100 years ago. But people still love them.
Nice handgun, for many people this is the best 9mm pistol, cheers from Brazil.
A true classic.

Great example, thanks for uploading!
Glad you liked it!
Honestly
This Gun has a VERY Special Place in my heart
Everything just feels literally perfect with this Gun 👌
They are good guns.
Australian Defence Force issued with these since WWII until the adoption of Sig Sauer P320
A lot of countries supplied their military forces with the Hi-Power.
Mine is new from 2014 bright polished blue with Ivory grips and adjustable sights. It’s my only 9mm.
You should do a video with it sometime.
The Hi-Power was ahead of its time, had it been a double action it would have been a game changer. Great video
Thanks
Standard issue here in Australia until we fully adopt the new Sig Sauer P320s
They are good pistols.
Do citizens get to keep handguns is Australia?
@@jimdent351 no unfortunately there are some exceptions but mainly a pistol is kept under lock and key at the range.
@@misteraustralian3335 Austrália is not the land of freedom.
Should stick with this gun rather than go to the P320s in my opinion

Very nice! I have a few myself, my Mark III is one I'd never sell.
I remember seeing some of your videos of it.

I never had trouble with hammer bite with the P-35. But I have medium size hands.

I Generally don't like Semi-auto Pistols (Because I like Revolvers but this is only Semi-auto pistol I want to had)
*Whatever, Great Review! :)*
