I understand what you mean about painting. I always stay away from it because I can't seem to pass the ugly stage 😭
I finally plucked up the courage to do a portrait study, though I had to do it while watching a step by step video from another youtuber. It's still pretty difficult, probably because don't really practice doing that.
But I love seeing your art style in this way. I hope you do some more.

I love portraits but they are insanely annoying, I have a hard time keeping the essence of the model and it feels rlly rlly bad when I draw a friend cuz I want to draw them not their uglier equivalent (ps. the portrait is amazing I don't want you to think I was talking abt your piece lol)

Hahah I know what you mean. I have a similar issue with drawing people I've known for a long time, something about the familiarity makes it way more difficult to get a proper likeness..
