- Welcome to another video! Today's video is about what it's like to have a morkie/A day in the life of our baby, Shelly Belly. She is a maltese and yorkie mix.
Basically:
1) They love to be spoiled (with toys, belly rubs, attention, and more).
2) They love to play.
3) They need to be close to you.
4) They love to ZzzzZZzzzZz...
5) And they love their family.
I was worried about how Shelly was going to be with our daughter Amy hen she was born but she has been a GREAT family dog. I'm so glad Shelly came into our lives so unexpectedly. We love her SO much!

9 years ago my wife & daughter insisted we buy this morkie from a pet store. We had discussed our plan to get a different breed for a couple of years. Not a morkie. Not from a pet store. Not on impulse. I was very irritated. When we got her home, I stretched out on our sofa for a nap, and that little dog ignored everyone else and snuggled up for a nap under my chin. Fast forward 9 years; Daisy Mae and I are inseparable. I spent a week at the university vet hospital around the clock while my little one had major orthopedic surgery - they thought I was crazy, but I didn’t want her to be scared or feel abandoned. But I was about to be schooled by my little love ball, because she has gotten me through 7 years of “terminal” cancer, transplant, and a total of 90 surgeries and procedures. She guards me like a lioness, protects me against any comers, and sleeps on me whenever I pass out from the pain. My morkie is truly an angel!
Oh my gosh, how sweet! It's crazy how life has other plans and everything works out better than you imagined. We also panned on getting another breed but she showed up into our lives and she's been the best! Morkies are awesome. ❤
I lost mine today, hardest day of my life! I will continue to miss her, these dogs are the best breed. I know she's in heaven with God bring her bundle of joy.

I have a Morkie too and everything that you put in the video describes our Bebe!!!! She is such a fun energetic dog...she loves to go for walks and that 10 lb baby pulls me. She is so strong for a little dog. Glad we found her...she was actually a stray! Thanks for sharing!

We too are Morkie parents,Vivian is her name. She is the most loving ,playful and happy girl . She too loves her toys. She always wants to be where we are at. She's also very very smart. We got her just as pandemic started. She was being cleared out of our local pet store. We got her at a bargain,but in return she has given us much much more. We love her as we do our Kids and grandkids.She is one of us. I was always a big male dog guy til we Vivian. OMG! What an impact she has made in our hearts .She's the life of our home.

My mother will be 89 this year. I am her caretaker. I was finally able to convince my mother that a small, loving and caring dog would do her a world of good is so many ways. We get him in 2 weeks and I can hardly wait for him to work his Morkie magic with his loving and caring ways and all too cute good looks. I know this little loving creature will put the passion for life back into my dear Mom's heart and soul and make her eyes sparkle again. I have a morkie as well his name is Tazo. I've had him for 13yrs and just love all the time I can spend with him. But I know what u mean by how loveable they can be to their humans.
This video is perfect! I have a morkie and he's so wild but I love him., He hates new people though he's very anxious but once he sees there is no danger he loves you. Shelly looks well behaved!

Morkie s are the cutest , sweetest and most loyal dogs! I have a 7yr old Morkie and he loves belly rubs as well and he still follows me around like my shadoow Bodhi loves to hide toys and chewier!their instinct is to dig! I’ve given Bodhi a puppacino from Starbucks also, nut the sugar isnot really good for them!! Yes Bodhi loves to cuddle
I think the digging and hiding thing is a Maltese trait. I have a Malshi (Maltese / Shih Tzu mix) and he does the same thing. LOL 😆

Your girl looks similar to our 10 year old morkie boy, but a little bigger. He loves to hide things, too! Except his version of hiding is dropping it in the middle of the floor. Not so stealthy. 😂

Oh no! So so sorry for your loss!If you don’t mind me asking, what was the reason for passing? Any of the health related issues they talk about with Morkies?
@@LondonTaytum6677 I have been so..soo heart broken. Buddy had a liver shunt that was discovered after he was 5. I went to many specialist in Fl. They all said he was too old for the proceadure and they offered less then a 50% if we went for the operation. I then spent the last 3 years with him on special diets and for most of all the time he was just fine and then in the last year he got pulled down for the issue he had. I did all I could and I am happy that GOD give me 8 years with him...I am still sooo sad :(

Hi, we too have a male Morkie but he’s quite a bit smaller than yours. I was the one who was looking for a dog and happened on Coco, the lady that had him was put in a position where she couldn’t take care of him any longer so we purchased him and it’s been heavenly ever since.
Yeah my lil baby is much smaller then this one too.
I have a Morkie that I got from another family in the services. I give him the best, which is whatever I can find that will make us healthy. I mean, I give him Fisetin, a senolytics, and can't wait to put him on Rapamycin (from the Dog Longevity study that's going on right now). I just want the best for him, because he is a good dog (although he of course has his own faults, nobody's perfect)
Our morkie lovesa chase and so will steal socks and pens etc and run away with them. Hates low flying planes, helicopters, cats...
She loves fighting with my hands where i pretend my hand is a bird or a snake and i peck at her and she grabs between my thumb and index finger and chews away lol

My husband also loves to fight with his hands with her! I on the other hand don't like the biting haha. But yes they LOVE to play and nibble on things. They are awesome dogs! We are truly grateful for our Shelly! Thank you for your comment and blessings to you and yours as well. ❤❤

I just got a morkie but he has a problem with staying alone when I go to work. He was barking all day when I went to work, some neighbors told me. I do not know how to do
Yeah morkies are very attached little doggies and love to be with their owners! We never had that problem because I didn't work when we first got her so she never missed us besides when we went out somewhere briefly. I'm not sure what you could do but it may help to leave him a piece of clothes like a shirt with your scent on it so he can smell you while you're gone. 😊
Bought him or her. Alot of toy 🧸& chew toy ,so your puppy won't get bored
And bring your dog out for a walk before you head to work & after dinner ( if you could ) . But mine is Yorkie 🧸🐕😅
Adorable! Cute doggie & great owners! (but p.s. I wouldn't give her sweets like whip cream which has sugar bad for her teeth and doubt you brush her teeth 2-3 times per day like humans do)

I always wanted a Morkie. I went to get one for me today on my birthday. I really liked one female puppy. But, when I heard the price, my dream shattered. They were asking around $6000 which is a way above my budget. 😞☹ I know they're priceless but can someone tell me if that's a too much price for a Morkie?
Woooow. I think it is too expensive.. We got our morkie for $800... I have no idea what goes into pricing them but that's pretty expensive! I'm sorry.. hopefully you are able to find a breeder who isn't selling them for so expensive. 😔🙏🏻♥️

OMG! Shelly looks exactly like my Gizmo! I noticed she has longer legs than typical morkies which is also the case with mine. Have you gotten her potty trained yet? Unfortunately, mine has all but destroyed my floor... But of course, I love him dearly!
Aw! Yes she's potty trained for the most part. We have her trained to potty on pee pads and she does really well besides her rare accidents. Morkies are the best! 😊
I think since it has Maltese that's why it has stuff, my cousins have a fully bred Maltese and she hides everything, socks, toys, fluff, cotton, shoes, flip flops . She cang get enough

I too have a morkie. Skyler is 9 yrs old. Mine barks all the time and I mean bark. She also has a high pray drive and does not like you giving attn to other animals so i cant even get another pet. Does yours have these traits?

We don't ever really leave Shelly alone fortunately because I am a stay at home mom so when we are gone it's not for a very long time. However I have heard of people leaving their clothes with their scent on it to help them feel better!
Hi! I've been offered a baby Morkie and she's so so cute, but I'm just wondering if they are as barkie as Maltese Terriers can be? I don't really have a problem with yappy dogs but we live in an apartment block so I don't want to cause trouble with the neighbours!
I think they can be yappy but our Shelly isn't. It just depends i guess. I think it's possible to train them not to bark so much too. Shelly will only bark if startled or playing and she'll do like a little growl if she thinks she hears someone outside.
My grandma is getting a new Morkie puppy soon.

How much does your morkie bark at strangers
Shelly hardly barks at strangers but it depends on the situation. She tends to be friendly and will only bark if she's playing with you or if you startled her. Also, sometimes she sees our neighbor from inside the house through a window and will bark at them but that's pretty much it.
I think the whip cream is actually a PupCup which is specifically made for dogs. It’s not for humans, it’s not that sweet and it taste like chicken or bacon. If you’re giving her human whip cream she may get doggy diabetes. I don’t know, maybe that’s what you meant. ❤

Sorry just seeing this comment! That's sad to hear, I wonder what caused her death? To be honest that is why we chose to spay Shelly... we had no interest in breeding and heard that spaying had a good chance of increasing her lifespan. We want to enjoy her as much as we can. 😢💕

Congratulations on your new dog! My tip is so be consistent with your training, if there's a specific thing you are trying to teach, always reward when it's done! RUclips videos helped me A LOT with training!

We are looking into the Morkie, is this breed tough to potty train?
@@nalahs187 For us it was not difficult to potty train her, because we were consistent which is really really important. We always kept an eye on her and whenever she did have an accident we corrected her right away and once she understood she got the hang of it quick, it surprised us! We also trained her to sit, respond to her name, to stay... all of it she learned very well. 🙂
