I’ve been a 3on3 player almost since it came out. Seeing it deteriorate into such a cesspool of wallets, extremely toxic community, and just awfully broken characters. Honestly I’ve grown tired of it, I got triple S and that was back in like 2021 maybe and that was the pinnacle of my comp scene of it. I’ve never enjoyed the game the same ever since then. Seeing this video really reaffirms my choice in just not really playing the game anymore, from one 3on3 player to another. Thank you

Power creep outclasses older characters phasing them out and making them irrelevant. That's why Joy City hasn't rolled out any P6 updates for over half the original roster in years but they'll still release new P7 characters.

You forgot to mention the god awful rng when it comes to getting decent cards unless pour money into the game. Another incentive they shove down your throat if you want to be even viable on the court. They core game is fun, but the toxic community and the shitty development from Joycity is what makes this game so suffering to play.

I started playing 3on3 in June of last year, and I have almost 700 hours on steam. Im f2p, and being f2p has gotten more manageable over the last couple of months. Characters have been made f2p accessible, giving daily gold packs, and the BP becoming f2p friendly. You can still be good at the game, but just accept that you won't have the cracked stats others have unless you get lucky cards. They just recently gave Ayla for 120p, and f2p shamgod is going to be a game changer when I build her.
Bro, I’m like he couldn’t have played recently but he has. At the end of the day characters are OP, the p-buffs and trick shots crazy, but as long as you’re having fun still catching wins on the non - pay to players, I’m having fun. And when I know the onlyyyyy reason these niggas are beating me is cause they’re character is moving 100% faster, or whatever it’s okay cause I don’t play them every match and have fun.
Honestly... to me (at least) 3on3 feels kinda like a gacha game. That's how most gacha games be they just come out with new stuff all the time to drain your money. 😅 Although it's true that they incentives you to spend money like crazy but.. which game in 2024 that's popular doesn't? Paying 90$ to have the full version of the game and from there starting to build up it's pretty much like buying a game full price online or at the store. I know that they have low-tier and high tier type of queue matchmaking but... they should impliment some type of medium tier so people that just started don't get destroyed by comp players because truthfully... it's not fun for both parties involved. I could rant the whole day about many problem that this game have but... It's pointless to be honest. The many unfixed bug + the communication/feedback response between the devs and the community is very low which sorta kills the game since we feel like our voices don't matter to them :/
The voices don't matter, the money does. The community could complain all it wants, but as long as people are still spending money on it, they have no incentive to change things. Sadly with the way even 2K is, the entire basketball video game genre is just putting together a game that barely works and then making it pay to win. Same thing for all of the big sports games really.
I would love a competettive mode without any extra ability BS or upgrades. Have an equal gamemode. Let skill win, not silly gimmicks, OP abilities or random luck. Also award less selfish players more. Sometimes the MVP in the matches are total BS. I don't mind the game, it has elements that reminds me of NBA JAM. Unfortunately lot of players are selfish and greedy (one of the reasons why I play 1v 1 more than 3 v 3). My win rate in 3 vs 3 is only 50 ish %. However in 1 v 1 I have 89%, and the reason is simple, I pass the ball and create space, the way you are supposed to play the game. The community has a lot of narcissists that wants MVP in every match, so you won't see a lot of passing. Just kids spamming the dribble button, and shooting (even if you have 3 players on you). Shame, cause it takes away the aspect of teamwork in a team sport, and it makes it impossible to play when you end up facing an experienced crew that plays properly. I'm glad i haven't spend a single penny on upgrades or characters. Grinding from scratch made the platinum trophy a lot more challenging, but also more fun and cheaper to play.
I’m mostly free to play and have only bought sum characters no ppoints or battle pass and still compete at high level all my cards took years to get😭 but nowadays there becoming more generous You can buy most dlc with red points and grind rank and events to get them. Nowadays is way better than back then. Before the game was ungrindable. Now u can grind so much out. Yes this is copium but I feel like the game is so much more manageable then back then as a new player. They hand out gold packs like cookies now.

Eh, I will say what you’re saying as far mechanics with characters and just how the game is, you’re not wrong. Spoke facts but does that make it the worst game of all time? Not at all. I’m SS ranked and I haven’t spent a dime on the game ever, there’s comp in SS. But for sure at a certain point you not finna be able to advance without investing in these characters, p-buffs, all that. Some moves be damn near unblocksble especially against og characters.
It's a shame. I was lucky enough to play this game during the closed beta testing. I've been a huge fan of Freestyle games since 2005, and playing this in 2016 was a blast. I believe I "quit" playing around 2018 or sometime before Jack. The cards used to be based on days, so you could only get buffs on those days (i.e., Monday, Tuesday). It sounds stupid, but it kind of worked out. I recently installed this game but don't recommend it to friends. I only play when I have friends over. That's the only type of fun I get from it.
you didnt even touch on the super important aspects of the game being the insane prices for anything for an advantage, the terrible community, the terrible events and the games overall buggy filled mess. ive been playing since the first ranked season ever and even hit sss in 2020-2021 winter season, that wasnt even my peak as my peak is rn but i dont even want to play. a new character bundle can cost $14-$55 and the $55 version gives you the same as the $14 except you get overpriced 250 p, and some card and upgrade stuff that doesnt even get the character closed to being useable, everything from pets to pbuffs is rng and i think you should make a part two about more of the smaller things like $1=10p (not even enough for one gold pack) and the rng of pets pbuffs and rng events
Honestly, I spent 17 dollars on the game, I bought ox queen , i have p5 Joey, ox,saru, and Carolina . I have all the basic characters p4’d , I’m a sr level player. I’ve never bought p Coins outside of the staters pack (5 dollars). You don’t need ptw characters ! You just have to be smart ,log in and play the game to get good cards , it’s free, skill balls, play the game and log in . Ive gotten cooked by Kim and Joey so many times .so I disagree with this video. Ive been a 2k player for so long so so so long, and I spent 40-100 dollars on the game every year so this is a lifetime game that I’m pretty decent at . Mind you I only spent 17 on cause I wanted to. And also when somebody scores on me they push me and might even twerk and I'm like wtf is on my screen and they play the game in the weirdest places, isn't one of the places the strip club and the characters are cringe af like I don't wanna guard a half naked woman and also when I shoot the ball the ball has been in the air for about 4 seconds then this guy blocks the shot mid air and I am considering deleting the game bcuz I already did before and the commentator is annoying af and the teammates won't pass the ball like the game is trash

Former 2017 Player here. This game died for me when they added Jack and the freestyles. The old strats with Kim after the screen run was enough to make this game annoying as it was. Now it’s not playable for people like me who built their account from the bottom and played with the pros back then. GGS guys was really fun playing with you. AKA AnimeDeathKid_1
I still play and I still wallet but the thing is though you may enjoy the game, you really have to break your bank to keep up. Especially with this new broken mid range meta. The game is broken beyond repair because if they were to try to go back to the old days they would get sued because people have paid so much money for things if they removed it. If they were to remove quick point they would 100% get sued. And the crazy part is the game has so many things that benefit free to play players but since there’s such a high advantage for paid items it completely negates it. The community is toxic asf, I literally had to turn off my messaging because mfs take the game to seriously. I’ve spent over the past 7 8 years around 10k+ and I didn’t noticed until I really sat and thought about it because spending 50 dollars here and 90 there doesn’t seem like a big deal until you notice that shit adds up

It WAS a great game when it first came out. Paying for cosmetics are fine 👍 my big problem rises when a game is dependent solely on paying for items in game to have an edge over others. There’s no “skill” involved. Just horde all the defense resist, 3 point and speed cards you have. And don’t get me started on p buffs… what was a 5 out of 5 game in its inception, turned into a solid 2 out of 5 for me. Concept of a 3 on 3 basketball game is brilliant, joy city had a chance to make something special out of this product.
Let’s say you’re level 31, congratulations. You’re officially locked out of low tier matches. Only players you’ll play are people who actively throw 💰 at the game. And then they’ll bully you, because there’s no proper build you’d have access to. Teammates scold you because you can’t guard players with double 9cm speed p buffs and plat and/or gold speed/drive speed cards. It’s almost like you must pre determine where the opponent will take their shot. And even if you’re in their LOS (line of sight) they have defense resist capabilities.😅 this all creates the toxic community you’re referring to, especially in discord channels. Joycity always making pay to win games. Their PC only Freestyle 2 Street Basketball is on it's last breath playerbase wise due to Joycity's greed (only caring about adding more characters with overpowered and broken animations and better transformation buffs that are forced into gacha and cost $300 to guarantee you get them).

When i first played this game not gonna lie i wanted to grind this game without spending money but heres the thing the only way to get the buffs i need i had to get the players for the buffs and i mad a rule the only way i could spend money is just to buy a character and not spend money for the build and have to grind from scratch 😂😂 and the build plus i lve hit double s in ranked ive tried going for triple s and the only way u can hit it in my opinion is by having a good squad

I've been playing since early 2017 and all I gotta say is that the times where I put the game down for months at a time are usually when I am my happiest. I wish they would have kept shit the same as launch when the only ptw feature was cards and every character was seen as viable. My point though, 3on3 is F2P, free to play, this is how majority of f2p work sadly, pay to the play, but you can have fun without investing in the game, especially nowadays. As a completely free player I love this game since intensive characters like the new one as of know as I’m typing this is Pedro well, I do agree that some new characters are overpowered the older characters go MASSIVE boosts like Joey p5 like if you’re losing by two to three points it’s pretty much a guaranteed shot if you don’t get blocked and Fred which is a hot streak hunter and basically you almost can’t miss if you get three points in a row both are characters you can get in the first two lvls and Lee is overpowered all together so don’t get me started
That's really sad but all games will eventually become Pay To Win because game developers are greedy. If there are wallets that individually put over 30k into the game, there's really no excuse for these unstable servers that can barely hold 100 players.

It's a shame. I was lucky enough to play this game during the closed beta testing. I've been a huge fan of Freestyle games since 2005, and playing this in 2016 was a blast. I believe I "quit" playing around 2018 or sometime before Jack. The cards used to be based on days, so you could only get buffs on those days (i.e., Monday, Tuesday). It sounds stupid, but it kind of worked out. I recently installed this game but don't recommend it to friends. I only play when I have friends over. That's the only type of fun I get from it.

you didnt even touch on the super important aspects of the game being the insane prices for anything for an advantage, the terrible community, the terrible events and the games overall buggy filled mess. ive been playing since the first ranked season ever and even hit sss in 2020-2021 winter season, that wasnt even my peak as my peak is rn but i dont even want to play. a new character bundle can cost $14-$55 and the $55 version gives you the same as the $14 except you get overpriced 250 p, and some card and upgrade stuff that doesnt even get the character closed to being useable, everything from pets to pbuffs is rng and i think you should make a part two about more of the smaller things like $1=10p (not even enough for one gold pack) and the rng of pets pbuffs and rng events
Honestly, I spent 17 dollars on the game, I bought ox queen , i have p5 Joey, ox,saru, and Carolina . I have all the basic characters p4’d , I’m a sr level player. I’ve never bought p Coins outside of the staters pack (5 dollars). You don’t need ptw characters ! You just have to be smart ,log in and play the game to get good cards , it’s free, skill balls, play the game and log in . Ive gotten cooked by Kim and Joey so many times .so I disagree with this video. Ive been a 2k player for so long so so so long, and I spent 40-100 dollars on the game every year so this is a lifetime game that I’m pretty decent at . Mind you I only spent 17 on cause I wanted to. But the glitches are stupid and could cost the game I agree but lots of games is ptw, but it’s not that bad of a ptw

Former 2017 Player here. This game died for me when they added Jack and the freestyles. The old strats with Kim after the screen run was enough to make this game annoying as it was. Now it’s not playable for people like me who built their account from the bottom and played with the pros back then. GGS guys was really fun playing with you.

I still play and I still wallet but the thing is though you may enjoy the game, you really have to break your bank to keep up. Especially with this new broken mid range meta. The game is broken beyond repair because if they were to try to go back to the old days they would get sued because people have paid so much money for things if they removed it. If they were to remove quick point they would 100% get sued. And the crazy part is the game has so many things that benefit free to play players but since there’s such a high advantage for paid items it completely negates it. The community is toxic asf, I literally had to turn off my messaging because mfs take the game to seriously. I’ve spent over the past 7 8 years around 10k+ and I didn’t noticed until I really sat and thought about it because spending 50 dollars here and 90 there doesn’t seem like a big deal until you notice that shit adds up

It WAS a great game when it first came out. Paying for cosmetics are fine 👍 my big problem rises when a game is dependent solely on paying for items in game to have an edge over others. There’s no “skill” involved. Just horde all the defense resist, 3 point and speed cards you have. And don’t get me started on p buffs… what was a 5 out of 5 game in its inception, turned into a solid 2 out of 5 for me. Concept of a 3 on 3 basketball game is brilliant, joy city had a chance to make something special out of this product.

And then they’ll bully you, because there’s no proper build you’d have access to. Teammates scold you because you can’t guard players with double 9cm speed p buffs and plat and/or gold speed/drive speed cards. It’s almost like you must pre determine where the opponent will take their shot. And even if you’re in their LOS (line of sight) they have defense resist capabilities.😅 this all creates the toxic community you’re referring to, especially in discord channels. When i first played this game not gonna lie i wanted to grind this game without spending money but heres the thing the only way to get the buffs i need i had to get the players for the buffs and i mad a rule the only way i could spend money is just to buy a character and not spend money for the build and have to grind from scratch 😂😂 and the build plus i lve hit double s in ranked ive tried going for triple s and the only way u can hit it in my opinion is by having a good squad

As a completely free player I love this game since intensive characters like the new one as of know as I’m typing this is Pedro well, I do agree that some new characters are overpowered the older characters go MASSIVE boosts like Joey p5 like if you’re losing by two to three points it’s pretty much a guaranteed shot if you don’t get blocked and Fred which is a hot streak hunter and basically you almost can’t miss if you get three points in a row both are characters you can get in the first two lvls and Lee is overpowered all together so don’t get me started
