Nicht falsch, aber diese Eigenschaft verursacht mehr Demos & Einspruchen, nicht weniger, ja?
Ja, er spricht natürlich über diesem Mann, der Deutschland gerettet hat, aber man wird kriminal ob man spricht davon.
Es ist in der Tat ein interessante Interpretation und es stimmt auch, dass wir Deutsche uns oft (moralisch) überlegen fühlen. Ich verstehe allerdings nicht, dass er als Beispiel Napoleon und Rom (Römisches Reich?!) gewählt hat. Das sind beides Beispiele, bei denen durch Krieg und Eroberung viel Leid entstanden ist. In dieser Hinsicht hat Deutschland ein noch extremeres Beispiel in naher Vergangenheit und es ist doch gerade gut, dass wir nicht darauf Stolz sind.
Ich selber würde sogar sagen, dass dies auch einer der Gründe ist, dass wir in Deutschland weniger und meistens sehr friedlich protestieren (Im Vergleich zu Frankreich).
Der Hauptgrund liegt aber eher darin, dass es uns in Deutschland sehr gut geht: Starke Wirtschaft, gutes Sozialsystem, relativ wenig Korruption, starkes Grundgesetz, Achtung der Menschenrechte, Wohlstand, hervorragende Infrastruktur (Abgesehen vom Internet), Gewerkschaften etc.
Im privaten Kreis regen sich viele zwar gerne über alles auf, aber man sagt sich "Es geht uns allen noch zu gut, damit was passiert".
Viel mehr lohnt es sich mehr bei uns über globale Dinge zu protestieren und dies wird auch gerade intensiv mit der Klima-Debatte (Fridays for Future) gemacht. Aber hier kommt es dann m.E. zum Konflikt mit der moralischen Überlegenheit. ;-)

His interpretation is totaly bullshit. We Germans are a society that looks allways to consens and perfection. If you try to combined this two things you did fail before start. And he did not understand that if the frensh are proud about Waterloo (oh no he said Napoleon) than we Germans are proud about our economical strength or 4 World Cups.
Actually he is right. Germans have nothing to be proud of. And Napoleon was one of the greatest man of his time (I'm not french ).
Although absurd from a first understanding, since Germany has given the world some of the best minds in almost every field of human endeavor (up until the last century) with people like Nietzsche, Kant, Einstein, Heisenberg, Beethoven, Wagner, Freud etc. his statement could actually be correct.

1:53 All protests are "for" something. The idea that protests are only "against" things is nonsense. For example: a protest against pollution is also a demonstration FOR a clean environment; a protest against low pay is also a demonstration FOR higher wages; a protest against war is a demonstration FOR peace; a protest against nuclear energy is also a demonstration FOR cleaner energy. People who don't protest for a better world are simply finding excuses for their own apathy. The word "protest" is even positive - it means to go forth and testify.

Vor allem geht es dort meist etwas anarchischer zu. In Deutschland sind viele Demos doch eher nett: Man trifft sich pünktlich zum polizeilich vereinbarten Termin folgt einer vorgegebenen Route und dann werden ein paar Reden gehalten. Dann wird wieder sorgfältig aufgeräumt und zum Kaffee ist man wieder zu Haus. Die wilden Proteste mit Gewalt wie in Wackersdorf oder Startbahn West sind eher die Ausnahme und werden eher noch seltener. In Frankreich ist es dagegen normal, dass etwas randaliert wird und alles ein bißchen außer Kontrolle gerät - ein kleiner 14. Juli sozusagen.

Protestieren. Protestieren ist eine gute Art Druck auf Politik zu machen und grundsätzlich etwas progressives. Aber es kommt nicht immer darauf an bei jeden Protest zu sein, um so seine Meinung zu vertreten, manchmal ist es besser zu Hause zu bleiben, aber da nicht auf dem Sofa sitzen und Fernseher gucken, sondern sich selbst weiterzuentwickeln. Mein Vater kommt aus Italien und er ist, genauso wie ich, interessiert an Gramsci und seine Überzeugungen. Er meinte auch(indirekt, also von mir interpretiert), dass die Leute nicht nur auf Demonstrationen gehen, sondern auch den theoretischen Teil machen. Seine Meinung bei Demonstrationen zu zeigen ist das eine, das andere ist sie weiterzuentwickeln und auch wirklich umzusetzen, Veränderung in sein Leben zu bringen. Das ist meine Empfindung.

Ich glaube Proteste erzeugen fortschrittliche Veränderungen.
Es gibt viele Möglichkeiten um eine Vorstellung / Meinung zu äußern, Beispielerweise eine Demonstration einzuplanen .. andersfalls ist mir wichtig dass die Methode , mit ihr man protestieren möchte , gut organisiert und nicht gewaltig sein soll . Heutzutage hat die Protestkultur rasch in unserer Umgebung verbreiten , dadurch kann man höflich seine Meinung nach irgendwelchem Thema zeigen .
Könnt ihr vielleicht eine Info-Box zu den neuen Begriffen einschalten? Ich musste einige Demonstrationen im Internet nachschauen müssen, weil es mich interessiert hatte. Es wäre definitiv hilfreich, wenn oben ganz kurz gestanden wäre, um was es sich

Haben Sie von protests in Algerien gehört? Es hat in Februar angefangen, befor Sudan, und Millionen protestieren noch jede Freitag! Obwohl mehr als Millionen Teilnehmer gibt, gab noch nie verletzte Menschen, keine Gewalt!

Hallo Cari, ich bin Jay komme aus China. Und mit easy German lerne ich Deutsch am meisten. Ich würde sagen, in China gibt es wenige „Körperliche Proteste/Demos“, sondern alles im Internet gemacht hat. Wir können freiwillig und auch vielen Menschen wollen etwas ausdrücken , was uns nicht gefällt. So ein Protest auf der Straße wie es in Deutschland passiert in China weniger, weil so viele Einwohner gibt deswegen zum Chaos führen könnten LOL. Aber ich glaube, wir haben trotzdem sehr starke Protestkurtul, gegen sowohl Kleinigkeit als auch etwas politisches.
Seit 22 Februar 2019, haben wir in Algerian alle Freitag demos um Demokratie zu bekommen in unserem Schoenen Land.
Davon habe ich gehört. Ich hoffe ihr werdet es schaffen. ❤️

Believe me.... you do NOT want to live in a country like Argentina where people protest for everything..., It seems like dialog and building bridges is no longer a solution but protesting is. Every other day there is a protest in Buenos Aires.
I attended only one protest/demonstration, that is the support for the students in Beijing for the 4th, June 1989. As a Chinese and still live in China, I felt the people like me are dying out! Echoing the comment that mentioned the HK protest, thanks to mentioning that! This episode makes me think about all the Eastern German citizens who protest which brought down the Berlin Wall in 1989. I love Germany and study German. I am working in IT web technology field and have friends in Europe ( Germany, Netherland, and Switzerland). Having been in Germany many times, and I hope one day I will be in Germany.
I am a Chinese from Hong Kong. As of today the 'protests', I would call it riots, has turned ugly and they have publicly humiliated two random mainland Chinese person in the airport 'protest'. Yes they hate Chinese people and admire the white. I respect the Germans demonstrating for good cause, where people have a good understanding of democracy and politics. Sadly Hong Kong is not ready for it.
@scipiohk Correction: I never endorse the "small" part of the you mentioned violent "protests". And you can not GENERALIZE it to the whole HK demonstrators and activities are all riots. Lastly: "Sadly Hong Kong is not ready for it." Your logic is wrong as one say "some people is not ready for something", that something is in a "future state" as a possibility; anyone knew basic history fact is that HK is in "the other system of democracy" for the past hundred or so years. What I am sad is that few Chinese is actually interested in politics or few Chinese actual politically literate, and we mostly only have is fears dominated political culture. I think we just keep "respect other people" demonstrating for good cause, and "respect" where people have a good understanding of democracy and politics => if even this is actually a honest expression.
Also, stop think: some deserve Democracy , some do not deserve Democracy. Democracy is never an end of itself, it is a process, it doesn't provide a readily solution to a problem rather than provide a process framework ( This is of course is very visible on many contemporary issues in the West, they key questions is: is there really another way to achieve genuine solution to any problem? ) . Everyone has the right to speak up, to be presented or chose the right people he or she thinks good to present for himself or herself, power should be limited (power is corruption, absolute power is absolute corruption), speak truth to the power should be safe and without fear, different opinions to be considered and heard is to be desired because it has potential to build good relationships, innovations and diversity of thoughts, ideas, express, culture are the beautiful gifts of all mankind, this is the foundational reasons for Democracy. And stop image God-like someone or some group have possessed Democracy and non-Democracy, and have the power to grand Democracy to some other people when time is right ( for example, "they" are ready for it ==== who are they here? Is the French included? My dear French friends, I am worried that according to your Yellow Jackets behavior, you French probably also NOT ready for IT. I am truly sorry, it’s not my opinion!).

I am just trying to, not directing to you, tell the world that they do not represent the majority, even though it looks like they do on all the western media. I do not know how much you understand hong kong people or the situation, but I am pretty sure that they look down on mainland Chinese (I assume you are as described) Their blind support to the rioters in recent events has driven me to the opinion that 'hk people are not ready for democracy' I understand this is a very controversial statement and you can have your own views. @@grafplaten Size doesnt matter. Lichtenstein is independent only because its not directly at the border of Germany. So when I take this example of Lichtenstein its easier to explain why Austria is german too. There were several small german states like that back than.
Well you have a point there saying Austria was multi-ethnic, so it was not only german back then. But the same applies to Prussia too, still you say (I assume) it was a german state.
So please explain how austrian people are not german while saxon or bavarian people are. Austrian people are austrian AND german, this is historically true even when they tell a different story in Austria officially.
Just to make it clear, I dont say Austria is (or should be) a part of BRD.

as someone from Panama, where people never protest against the DAILY abuse & corruption from politicians and institutions because,the demos will create traffic jams or they are just at an inconvenient place or time. I have to disagree with what he said. From my perspective,there is a big protest culture here in Germany, however there can always be more of course.
I myself also feel proud to say I have participated here in Germany in protests against the TTIP in Hannover and against fascism.
I hope people in my country would eventually understand the importance of protesting collectively for things that affect them instead of having an '' oh well that's just how things have always been and how they will be'' conforming attitude. Slowly i have a perception young people seem more aware and want to make changes but unfortunately is not enough. also i hope even if people don't feel directly involved or attached politically that at least it can be perceive as something ''cool'' and ''trendy'' to protest against injustices and hate speech.

the full translation was "kind of come together" because she said "man schließt sich irgendwie an". Word for word "anschließen" means "to join (the crowd)" or "to follow (the crowd)".

Die deutsche Bevölkerung ist sehr glücklich, dass die über philosophischen Themen protestiert. Das heißt, dass ihre Gesellschaft ziemlich gut funktioniert und sie haben keine riesige Probleme.

All the people demonstrating against nuclear energy have no idea on the negative implications that 'renewable energy' has. Nuclear is one of the best sustaining, best for the environment, and most efficient forms of energy available. Are we really that scared from Fukushima and Chernobyl still? When built to the proper regulations with correct human factors controls, these power stations are second to only fission once it becomes available.
But what about the waste? I worry that the waste will be around for centuries.
@@lornadoell That's a very reasonable concern to have and this is one of the biggest downsides to nuclear energy. The waste will have to be stored and with time and a ultimate use will be found later. In European countries that utilize nuclear power, the waste is recycled and the the rejected waste is decreased drastically. I encourage you to read the article 'Why Doesn't the U.S. Recycle Nuclear Waste' by Forbes. The ultimate problem with renewable energy is that it is not constant and therefore requires the ramping up and down of nuclear sites to pick up the slack. The problem with this is that nuclear plants cannot just increase and decrease their power at the turn of a knob. The process takes days and when hurried, it decreases the efficiency of the plant greatly. Renewables also take large amounts of land to operate and are very bad for the animals native to those areas as they make it uninhabitable (especially for birds in the case of wind) and (especially for turtles and burrowing creatures in the case of solar farms). There are actually installations of solar farms that have required digging up turtles and other native animals and relocating them to place the farm. This is far worse than any of the vast vast majority of nuclear plants in ecological destruction. As I said before, until we are able to utilize fission, it is just going to be a careful treading between energy production and effectively protecting the environment.

Ich bin nur 19 Jahre alt und komme aus Russland, das etwa berüchtigt dafür, und bisher habe ich nie völlig begriffen, wie furchtbar das ist, obwohl ich verstehe, dass diese Maßnahmen müssen getroffen werden, da es kein anderen Weg gibt.

ich habe nicht bisher eine Demo teilgenommen und ich denke auch dass ich einer Protest nicht teilnehmen werde, weil es grundsätzlich nicht mein Ding ist. Ich fand die Demos völlig toll aber hmm nicht für mich.
I strongly disagree that Germans have nothing to be proud of. I'm not German, only a German language learner, but many of the great philosophers have been German. Kant, considered to be one of the best philosophers (if not the best) of all time was German. There are two main "styles" of modern philosophy: analytic and continental. And guess what? The "fathers" of both were German! Frege and Husserl, respectively (Husserl was also the first phenomenologist). The list can go on: Hegel, Heidegger, Leibniz, Marx, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Engels, Goethe, Godel, and I can go on and on and on!
Many of the great mathematicians have been German-- I already listed some: Leibniz, Godel, and we cannot forget Cantor, Gauss, Dedekind, Goldbach, Hilbert, Zermelo, Riemann, and so on.
Many of the great classical musicians have been German-- for example, Bach, Beethoven, Wagner.

Ich habe niemals bei einem Protest oder Demo teilgenommen.
Old Portuguese saying "when you're too comfortable that means problems are brewing". That's why we have so many problems with privacy, economics, politics, human rights, the environment,....
Everyone is too comfortable and doing nothing... I don't blame people though, it's hard enough to get a normal life let alone have time to protest about things! And just a small example... When you speak to someone about privacy they always say "I've nothing to hide so I have no problems with privacy". The thing is, your private likes and dislikes are now being used for economic exploration. What products do people like, what should they charge more for, shall they advertise and bombard people with advertising, etc etc etc. My mail box is filled with ads! I barely can find my bills or important letters! And nevermind the sticker I have legally approved saying "No ads allowed".... And the banks bailout in 2008 was the ultimate robbery. Your rights should never be discussed or even put in question because people will take advantage of them!
Yes, protesting is lacking for sure!
p.s.: massive respect for the guy at 8:03! It's not only Germany though... All superpower countries have this trait! America and China are on top of that list too! Either through demonstration of explosive force or by economic subjugation. I have some fear for the future man... Monsters are forming all around us and we think everything is fine...

Es klingt so. Er hatte früher erzählt, das er nach Deutschland fliehen musste. Wahrscheinlich danach.

Ok, aber man soll also fragen: Ok, du hast gegen dem Atomenenergie protestiert, aber welche Ausbildung in Atomphysik hast du erreicht? Was weißt du über Atomenergie ?
Man muss kein Atomphysiker sein um sich zur Kernkraft eine Meinung zu bilden. Man muss ja auch kein Politikwissenschaftler sein um zu wählen.

Meine letzte Demo war gegen Brexit!
Die Einstellung der Frau finde ich irgendwie gut aber unpraktisch bzw. nicht ganz durchdacht. Wenn ich gegen etwas bin und Protestiere bin ich doch gleichzeitig auch für etwas, für das ich mich stark mache. Ich war auf mehreren Demos und ich kann es entweder so sehen, dass ich gegen Massentierhaltung demonstriere oder ich formuliere es positiv und sage ich demonstriere für Tierrechte.

Ist "Protest" statt "Demo" so ein Anglizismus, der sich in den letzten 20 Jahren, seit ich nicht mehr in Deutschland bin, durchsetzt? Manche Leute antworten ja mit "Demo" oder "demonstrieren", andere (und Cari) sagen Protest/protestieren... Hmmm...
Ich wohne in London, und war bei der letzten großen Demo für ein zweites Brexit Referendum dabei, und finde hier oft so, alle anständigen Leute sind so höflich, dass das irgendwie immer verpufft, war auch beim Irakkrieg so. Die netten Guardian Leser demonstrieren mit witzigen Wortspielen und Kind und Kegel und ziehen ganz vorsichtig durch die Londoner Innenstadt, aber werden letztendlich ignoriert.
Ich finde Protest hört sich sogar eher altbacksch an. Und Demo ist doch auch abgeleitet von Demonstration (gleiches Wort im englischen).
Hier in GB heißt das protest oder manchmal rally, eine "demonstration" ist, wenn man zeigt, wie etwas funktioniert.

Gutes Thema. Leider sind wir nicht so an Demonstrationen in Russland interessiert. Aber brauchen wir das auf jeden Fall.
