Harry was born into a position he didn't invent, and didn't ask for. As an American the idea of a monarchy, even just a figurehead one, is silly. But I also understand British history, and the value of having the Royal Family as a symbol of national pride, and continuance of tradition. These are valuable things for any nation. Harry seems to have decided to take the station he was born into, and try and use it for as much good as he is able. I can't fault him for this. Diana would be proud

As President Bush said in his 9/11 address to Congress - "America has no truer friend than Great Britain". I have served side by side with British and Australian military - they are staunch allies of the United States.

I salute them and give them the honor they so richly deserve as the leaders of the UK. God save the Queen. Their traditional values are outstanding and untouchable.

+Anne M. Yes he was pulled out of the war for a little while but Harry insisted that he should go back. Harry went back to Afghanistan as a (FACs) Forward Air Controller. A primary Forward Air Control function is ensuring the safety of friendly troops during close air support when targeting enemy targets in the Front line. After that he flew AH-64 Apache as the weapons officer in Afghanistan. He had no special treatment when he was over there putting his life at risk.

Respect, but no majesty need be placed. This is the United States of America.

    • @NilsAlbertsson
      @NilsAlbertsson 7 лет назад +3

Jake Kellogg... "Your Majesty" is the honorific reserved for the the sovereign her/himself (and for a King's wife - former wives of dead kings retain the majestic title)... Princes and Princesses are granted the honorific title "Your Royal Highness" (or just "Your Highness" in short form)... On a side note, male spouses of a female monarch, are not Kings, but granted the princely title of "Prince Consort to the Queen" and also called "Your Royal Highness"
It should be remembered, however, that all such titles are just formal courtesies or ceremonial norms... they are absolutely not required in law, nor is any person required to bow or curtsey. Indeed, many people who have met royalty (even the Sovereign herself) have not bowed or used any honorifics. All that is expected is politeness, civility etc. If one is rude or uncivil to the Monarch or high ranking royalty, then the worst that will happen is you will be asked to leave.... Nobody gets thrown in the Tower anymore, nobody touches their forelock or doffs their caps.

You do know that Britain defended Africa and held the line eventually pushing the Italians and Germans back right? Not the mention the fact that we stopped the Japanese, Russians and Germans from invading India which would have surely ended the war for the worse. America could only have been successful in taking France with the help from the British and Canadian forces so show some respect to our soldiers that died for freedom as do we show respect for yours...

You are a true leader and someone we all can look up too. Your Mother would be Proud of the Man you've become. Your Great Country is Blessed to have such a Man, a Soldier and a Leader. I pray one day we have someone like you to Lead our Country, someone that has as much Courage, Style, Grace, Class and Honor as you have.
God Bless You. May God keep you and your Family safe.

I still remember I was 8th and we had taken a trip to DC. Went to Arlington National Cemetery the same day Prince Harry was there, our tour guide tried her absolute best to try to avoid Prince Harry, we go to watch the changing of the guard, next thing we know a band shows up and there's a camera crew, the crowd is larger than normal and all the sudden Harry shows up to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. It was one of the biggest highlights of our trip!

May our two cousin-nations, who had their quarrels long ago, remain friends and allies for all time. True friends are hard to come by, especially among nations. Let it be known that any American who knows anything is grateful for the friendship of the U.K.

British Army uniform > U.S. Army uniform
Why? Much better fit in jacket and pants. I like that the sleeve cuffs aren't "wide" - they're at an appropriate circumference; pants are "slim straight," not straight like the U.S. Army's. Just an overall better silhouette and drape.

He's still a prince and is still 6th in line for the throne. The only thing he gave up was the style (form of address) Royal Highness.

Ifs or buts could be applied to any war You could have been close to winning Vietnam, but Britain was still unbroken the last one in Europe standing. We in Britain are very proud hope you understand.

As a Brit, I'm not a fan of the monarchy, but that visit was pure class. I think the best move for the monarchy when the queen dies would be to skip Charles and go to William. Of course, that's not going to happen, but it would put my opinion of the monarchy at a much higher point. William and Harry are by far and a way more popular than Charles because they're relatable and genuinely give a damn. I'm sure Charles does too, but he doesn't have their charisma. Elizabeth has charisma from her longevity and military service, but I don't think Charles could match that. William or Harry could. A young monarch could be a very positive thing in terms of their relatability.

Instead of being 3rd in line for the Throne, Harry should be the 1st in line! His father is a waste of time and his older brother
never really did anything in the military!

Heirs to the throne aren't allowed to go to the front line anymore. It would be very bad if they got captured.... Think about it.

George II led the British Army in Battle. Do you really think they would be captured in present day? Prince Andrew was constantly in harms way as a helicopter pilot on the HMS Hermes during the Falklands War.

Folks! Harry served in active military duty a Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan during that war. He and his Uncle Prince Andrew are the only recent royals that served in real combat

When he was a young man he was involved in a road rage incident, and was defended by his detective, and he was reported incorrectly to have stayed behind when his comrades went to Afghanistan and I thought he was awful. Now he has married the woman he loves who is not some Brit toff and he DID participate in Afghanistan and he has matured into a decent man. I think he has turned out well.
