@@liammcdermott1482 for EMS or for fire? For fire in NY at least we have to have FF 1, FF2, and hazmat. That’s all i can remember off the top of my head.
I have been a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years and I still get the adrenaline rush as I did on my very first call. Awesome video and stay safe all my brothers and sisters
It never ceases to amaze me... even in Canuckistan my first responders always are always out the door with all units in less than 5 mins..... seriously professional fire fighters don't have that kind of response time especially when youre at work or in bed or having a special night with your family..... i watch the webcam when town fire is called out and its absolutely incredible how fast our volunteer men and women get the gear rolling... simply amazing.....

OMGosh! I love your first name! My name is Branden too! Yes, same spelling as you! I don't see that too often. Mostly Brandon.. we are the minority, but I'm not complaining! I love it! Well.. it does have its draw backs. Where you from? Illinois, USA here. They have quite a few volunteer fire depts here in my state. You have to be I wanna say at least 50K+ population to have a paid fire dept. I could be wrong. It could be around 20K+. Typically any smaller and it's considered volunteer.
I truly miss doing this. Wish I could do it again. Too many health problems now. Stay safe and thank you for what you do.

I was a volunteer ff for 21 years I stepped away so I could spend time with my kids and still today I miss it but I won't change the choice I made 3 years ago but God bless those of you who are still doing the job

Great job on the video ... former Volunteer firefighter/ EMT 5 yrs on the job now retired due to medical reasons but everyday while on the job I did it not for money or glory but did it so someone could live another day and for that was payment enough knowing I did my job to the best of my abilities
My boyfriend is a volunteer firefighter and he wouldn’t change it for the world. And I’m proud of him every day and my both my parents and both my grandfathers were firefighter and my uncles were volunteers. Thank you to all.
Love it i was a volunteer firefighter in texas back for a good few years. I loved it and really enjoyed what i did and getting nominated for the award of the year. And participating in parades and just people shaking your hand and saying thank you they appreciate us meant a lot. And driving the truck to calls having people look at you and smile as you go best feeling ever

As a Volunteer Fire Chief I would like to, from the bottom of my heart, thank my wife and kids, and all spouses and kids that make it possible for us to do our jobs. Without their support it wouldn't happen.
We leave in the middle of the night, Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, birthdays parties, family gatherings etc. to go do what we enjoy.
It truly is our loved ones that "suffer" when we leave.
If you are a volunteer FF, you have my respect, stay safe.
If you aren't, please strongly consider it, almost all departments are short staffed and could use the help.

Alan Williams yep, 18 volunteers and 4 full timers. Full staff is 40+ barley enough to run 24/7

I just joined a fire station, and I do it bc I want to help serve and save others. I don’t want the money, I want to help ppl who r in need and who r in danger. Even b4 I joined, I was still helping ppl and saving ppl from bad stuff.

NH VFF, seen the video a bunch of times. Leaving my job and family for that pager is tough but I do it for them. I always know my brothers and sisters in this field have my family's back if anything happens.
volunteer firefigthers dont go it for the money but they do it for the safty of there pepole my dad is a volunteer firefigther and he love's his job May god be with all of u firefighters out there saving lives!
Currently work in Corrections and just submitted my application to become a volunteer to one of the local combination fire districts near by. I hope I can be blessed to serve in this capacity.

Thank you so much for the comment! Wanted to be a firefighter my whole life to carry on my grandfather's tradition. Sadly, he passed 5 yrs. ago, but I will never forget him and I will always remember what he did. Hope more people will join the volunteer fire service. We don't do it for money, we do because we care!

Incredible on how they **VOLUNTEER** For this, they aren't even demanding to pay, they just want to safe their town.
All you other VFF's heed this; take the time to make sure your family is ok. The pager went off so many times and I would race for my shoes and out the door. It never occurred to me how much my wife and five kids worried. I knew they cared, sure. But after being a VFF for 20 years, one of my sons told me how anxious he got waiting for me to come home. Every time. It turns out they all worried more than I ever knew. So when you do your self care to make sure that you keep ptsd at bay, take some time to care for them to make sure they don't end up with ptsd from vicarious trauma.

If doing something to save someone else is possible, we do it. It’s our calling. It’s our passion. When you get the call, you feel like it’s my time to help somebody. It’s an awesome feeling. It’s one like no other. We love our hobby.
I love this video because shows how much firefighters that work hard and save lives and I really appreciate that. I will also be taking over the ARFF CVG Airport Fire Chief. I hope everything goes smooth in January 2019.

My dad is a volunteer firefighter and there was this one bad house fire that killed two girls hard to believe but that my dad fought a fully engulfed house fire
Great video and tribute to all the people who volunteer countless hours and tons of energy to keep their communities safe. Unfortunately in my experience none of those people would be allowed to leave work this casually for a fire call. The days of employers understanding the value of first responders over some tiny percentage of lost profit is gone. I have never had an employer who has any interest or concern about my role as a volunteer firefighter in any way. Wish i didn’t have to say it.

Next year I'm going for the Volunteer Firefighter process in my town when I'm a sophomore in high school, even know I'm interested in the Marines and after doing Law Enforcement.
Mr Beck cool, I'm trying to be a volunteer firefighter when I'm 15/16 (14 right now) and then once I'm 18 I'm joining the air force as a combat dog handler, and after discharge (only trying to serve a few years maybe 5-8 years, not my entire life) i think I'll join my towns national guard and be a County Sheriff, if you do join the Marines The USAF K9 Handlers usually deploy with Marines, so maybe one day I'll see ya out there, ❤️🔥👍

Great vid! It gives people more perspective into how hard it is to volunteer, having to leave from work or out of bed, we are not paid to potentially die for someone else. It’s hard work. We have to deal with minimum staffing, which means usually 2-4 on an engine for a fire alarm. Evening is when we turn out the most, same early in the morning, because people are either sleeping or getting ready for work. Volunteers are taken for granted. A thank you would be nice, but they say it with their relief. I figured that we run toward danger while everyone else is fleeing from it, they think we as goddamn crazy. But we are a strange group of people, who are relaxed and affectionate, but come the time when you get a house fire, you go into full on crazy mode. It takes a special person. Hopefully this will help recruit more firefighters.

These guys actually love the job that they do without or little pay. Makes you question the career boys that get paid a 6 figure income if they would still do it if they get paid or not.
Make six figures in my normal job. Wouldn't give up volunteering for the world. I get more joy helping people than my nice check brings me. Unfortunately, we all have bills to pay. Tough living two lives basically. I'm just always tired but still love it.
