    I think my favorite thing that I did in Tear Ring Saga was giving Sierra (the witch lady) the Mug scroll. She was always teleporting everywhere, so the negative debuff on her allies barely mattered. I was collecting so many items and weapons from enemies and bosses, it was awesome. Some of the most fun I’ve had in a strategy game

    4:52 It's the Salia Spear. The Leda Spear halves incoming damage and isn't obtainable - one of the green units uses it in C21. I'd also like to mention C5 as a plus for dismounted lances on Raffin.
    I consider Narron better on Holmes's route even if early-recruited, because his extra Mov over Zieg is slightly more important there, and they're otherwise pretty much interchangeable.
    Renee actually trivialises more maps than Sierra does. Sierra has 28, 35, 39 and arguably 37, with contributions on 27, 29, 34 and endgame, while Renee ends 29 and trivialises 30, skirmishes 6-11, 31, 32, 33 and 38, while also being insanely important for endgame. Exorcise is pretty important, though not as much as Warp.
    It feels super weird for me to see Sasha right below Martel, because Martel is a flier and Sasha isn't. :-p The Pegasus Flute costs turns unless you don't want Mel, and I value Mel over a third flier that I have to grind up. Obviously turn count isn't everything, but it's what I've been focused on for so long in this game that it just looks weird, as I said.
    Okay, I'm not going to be able to watch the rest now. If I have any thoughts later, I'll reply to this comment rather than editing it.

    • @aclashoffireandice4084
      @aclashoffireandice4084 11 месяцев назад

      Okay, time for round 2.
      I agree with Mintz over Raphael. Flurry is that good, and training Raphael up to 32 without slowing down is pretty rough. I will mention, though, that Raphael has one piece of unique combat utility in killing Rachis in C36.
      I'm surprised that Rishel is so high. He's pretty bulky, sure, but he's next to Sierra, who arrives just after him and completely changes the game. Everyone in S other than him and Vega either dominates combat hard or changes how the game is played, so those two seem out of place up there to me (less so Vega because he's insane, but still).
      And now for probably my most controversial take: Aura Rain is hideously overrated. It comes pretty late, and there are only like 3 maps that are long enough for it to be relevant, given it can't go off until turn 5. It only has one really good map, even - the others are easy enough without it, but C37 is horrible to rout without a map-wide cleaner. I don't like it on C34 because it kills Stephanie if you use it on turn 5 and the map is over on turn 10. Honestly, I think Meriel is barely better than Maruj, who can at least use Sylphid early to get some big hits in.
      Looks like I'll have to come back for a round 3 at some point...

    • @aclashoffireandice4084
      @aclashoffireandice4084 11 месяцев назад

      Hm. Lina at the bottom? I find that a bit weird. She joins in time for C34, and you can Empower her and have her fight reinforcements while you wait for Hagar to show. Once she promotes, she can actually do stuff for the last couple of maps if you want her to. Hagar has essentially nothing - I don't think even Paragon saves him, and he can't even do the thing I had Tom do in my LTC. As for Luca... well, I've been trying to use him, and he's horrible. I genuinely think that Hagar's minor contributions killing Dracozombies in a 4-turn C37 rout might outweigh anything Luca can ever do. So yeah, for the bottom three I'd say Lina > Hagar > Luca. But that's meaningless nitpicking, lol.

    • @allenkeettikkal3149

      Incomplete recruitment LTCs that have Sasha promoted since they kill off Mel for the Pegasus Flute. If we are considering a looser LTC where grinding is allowed, a third flyer is pretty good for Maps 21 and 23, as well as nearly all of Runan's Route. She isn't too bad to train either since you can just send to Holmes Route and grind her with the skirmishes. She can even contribute unpromoted with Ensorcel on Map 12.
      Also fun fact, you can get two Encorsel Staves through a weird glitch. If you have Mel's inventory full then you can get another Ensorcel Staff sent to the inventory.

    • @aclashoffireandice4084
      @aclashoffireandice4084 Месяц назад

      @@allenkeettikkal3149 I mean, that whole bit is tongue-in-cheek, since Mekkah obviously tiers for efficiency, and so promoted Sasha can be reasonably assumed. But since you bring up LTC with grinding, displayed LTC 100% needs Mel in order to save turns by killing Kranion and the C37 Dracozombie early.
      I didn't know about the Ensorcel duplication glitch. That's pretty cool, although I do think one full staff is sufficient for LTC, at least.

    • @allenkeettikkal3149
      @allenkeettikkal3149 Месяц назад +1

      @@aclashoffireandice4084 If we are talking about Displayed LTC, then idk if it can be assumed that Mel is really alive when trying to get the Kranion/Dracozombie Bosskill. I checked Laponge’s playthrough and saw that he got the kill with Plum’s dance boosting Maruj’s Magic, not by Mel.
      I did try to replicate this strat myself with Alicia and Mel, but it turned out not to be worth it at all. It took way too much time and resources to kill Kranion that I ended up being spread thin when the reinforcements came. It didn’t help that I didn’t really have the other stuff that Laponge had, like the Dark Thunder tome for the bottom right enemies, nor did I have the Gargoyle Staff for the top right ones. The units I deployed in that map were Mel, Lyria, Lionel, San, Alicia and Plum. It was a ton of trouble to get the bosskill and I had to take some desperate measures like pre-emptively transforming Katri to Neuron, which only made things worse since I only had one Physic bot. In late playthroughs, I just use Shigen to lure out Kranion and to kill the bottom left units with Neuron. I didn’t bother deploying Plum nor Lyria there, since Laponge found a way to 5 turn that map without needing either.
      Anyways, I got to give you props for making your LTC of TRS. It helped me a lot in terms of doing my own efficient playthrough of TRS myself. I was initially struggling with how different it was to traditional Fire Emblem, but with your playthrough as well as Mikazunoyaiba’s LTC, I have become more confident about it.

    4:23 Bronze Paladins have 5 dismounted movement; Raffin actually has a whooping 6 as a dismounted Bronze Paladin b/c of his +1 personal movement, it's just that a dismounted Wyvern Knight has 5 so he loses a point on his class change to Wyvern Knight. This is quite noticeable in Chapter 5, where he is tied for the highest movement with Raquel (who benefits from having Urbanite)
    4:43 It's the Salia Spear, the Leda Spear is unobtainable. I do think a trained Lionel can be a contender, but Raffin is always present while Lionel needs to be chosen.
    24:51 Honestly considering how one can still make enemies attack Sierra even with Vantage+Sylphid by giving her a shield with durability, this doesn't even seem like a negative.
    25:40 Astra only activates with physical attacks. Draco only activates with physical melee attacks, and only by an infantry unit. So yeah, these would not work with Sierra lmao
    1:10:31 This is technically up for interpretation I suppose. There are actually two versions of the post-Chapter 40 credits (with different list of character images) that technically rely on full recruitment and survival BEFORE Morse Tower visit. But yeah, the secret lore scene that is tied to full recruitment AFTER the Morse Tower visit.
    1:20:50 Yeah like even using Ensorcel on Vega is an option, for some reason he has base 2 magic, which means with Ensorcel and Levin Sword he has 2+7+8=17 magical atk at base. With how most enemies have 0 magical resistance in this game, he actually onerounds most enemies at 1-2 range with it.

    Pretty cool how the sword breaker and the shield breaker ended up next to each other at the end. Pretty agreeable tier list honestly, the only real thing I'd care to argue for is moving Mintz up closer to Roger. I've always thought of them as identical units just for different routes. The small availability difference is definitely worth taking note of, but a 7 unit gap is kinda much. Also I would move Ezekiel to D tier honestly. He can be pretty alright once he promotes to sergeant but it's so painful to use an axe infantry unit till then that I would consider the final chapter units better then him. Also I was thinking about it and the Schramm versus Dullahan feels like comparing Marcus with a killing edge and a Marcus with a steel blade. Of course both combat forecasts will look great cause Marcus is broken, but the killing edge will be way better then the steel blade

    The Saga of Tiering.
    Seriously I'd put Zieg at the very top of S. He can use the sneaky high kills iron lance you get from the first town and build huge crit on it like in FE4. Add in all the other amazing things he has going for him, and even though he betrays you he carried so damn much. Plus there's no downside to letting him go ham, the game gives you tools to kill him later.
    The speedrun actually does use San in the mogall cave map, I think you might have to both enarmor and empower her and give her the right weapon and she gets a ton of levels off them and becomes a carry. I don't think most players would do this though, rather waiting for some easy entombed full levelups like Rengor suggested is probably the norm.

The fun thing about the thieves is they all learn at least one peculiar skill if you bother to train them, with the wildest one being Bud learning Astra at 40. I feel Kreiss is lowballed a bit here.
    Kreiss has 2 more strength than Arkis in exchange for 2 speed. Most human enemies are very slow, so Kreiss is doubling most of the enemies Arkis is, meaning that per combat he is doing 4 more damage than him. At base, he is also doing 6 more damage than Esther per round of combat, and since his base speed is higher than hers, he is always doing that much more than her at base with the same weapons. And this isn't factoring in the fact that he has higher mastery than both of them, so he can use an iron lance or something to trade for higher damage in cases where none of them are doubling.
    His higher growth in strength than Arkis also means that he is likely to only widen the gap in offense as well. Kreiss is also an excellent candidate for the early speed potion. He hits hard and has some good mastery so helping him double is very good, and honestly Raffin doesn't need the help to double with his wyvern promotion.
    Kreiss can struggle in the mid to late game because of how bulky some of the Runan route enemies are, specifically the armors and sergeants with shields. But at that point you should have some tools to help him out, namely armor slayers (which he only needs 1 mastery for over his promotion gains) canto scrolls, empower, etc. He can put the tools in the game to use so much better than so many of the other units, especially the early game ones, that he should be given the Ch. 3 knight crest, especially if you aren't using Narron. Bronze Paladin also gives him access to lances indoors, which gives him some utility even into the late game as a pilum thrower.

      @bachtranlequan1806 6 месяцев назад

      I completely agree with this. There's no reason for Esther and Arkis to be placed next to Kreiss. Like cmon, you need two, yes two, lucky lvl up for Wlvl (Mastery) for both Arkis and Esther to be able to use Iron Lance & more importantly the Javelin for the dmg & 1~2 range. Given how low the growth rate in this game is, and how you have to feed them kills for them to even do that. Kreiss does it at base lvl :) ...
      Kreiss completely outclassed both of them thats not even funny. Like yes he loses in term of speed compared to Arkis, but whats Arkis is gonna do? Double the enemies with Slim Lance? Now imagine if you have Raffin, Narron and Kreiss you could start training your +1 Iron Sword and +1 Iron Lance right away from your first few maps.
      After having played thru this game multiple times, it actually doesnt feel that bad to train Kreiss to later on get Lateena anymore coz the guys actually does very well for his join time. You could even lvl him up by just throwing Javelin to set up kills for Narron or anyone else. And he lvl up that way just fine.

    OK, I know it is probably too late to comment, but I have a few observations and one correction to point out on some units.
    1:37:22 Correction, Lionheart DOES keep bows indoors, it is the sword weapon type that he loses during the indoor chapters. This probably doesn't change that much as Lionheart is still a 4 Move unit and you'll probably want to use Raquel over him.
    3:14:33 Ok, Thomas the Hunter turned Ballistician isn't a great unit, but I think you may have overlooked Thomas is recruited near the arena and that his stupidly high defense allows him to cheese the Arena during that chapter.

    Vega is too high. Schram is a busted Prf and he carries hard on Holmes Route Part 1, but beyond that he's honestly pretty underwhelming. Outside of Maps 25 and 37, there isn't anything that he does that can be replicated by Lionel or your Mages.
    Rishel being S tier is a bit of a stretch. Sunflame is an amazing tome and having +1 movement is massive over your other mages but his availability and joining time puts a wrench in his viability. He's great on most of Runan's maps spanning from Maps 24-26, 34 and 37, but I don't think that is enough to put him above units like Shigen, Lionel and Mintz, all of which come earlier and have more relevant contributions to your team. He might be better than Roger and Raphael since he does more than just one thing, but I don't think he fits amongst the brokens.
    Samson is way too high. He is easily one of the most overrated units in this game. He's only good if you play chronologically but if you don't his problems become apparently really fast. For one his base stats are barely better than Bartz, and if you have been leveling Bartz up then his only defining trait would be his Frontiersman skill. The only chapter he really has going for him is Map 16, as any other chapter he ends up being so forgettable that you might as well swap him with another unit and they would be just as effective. He's just outclassed in every way by Raphael outdoors and Lionel indoors.
    Lee is way too high. Lee sounds great on paper but most of the time he feels extremely redundant. 5 movement isn't really enough to keep up with your cavs on Runan's Route, and Holmes Route tends to be a place where you train your growth units like Maruj. He's really only good if you want a spare user for the Save and Hammerne staves (and maybe Physic early on), but beyond that there isn't really too much that he actually does that warrants him being 12th best unit. Roger, Mel, Lyria, Lionel, Raphael all have more relevant contributions when compared to him.
    The other problem is the fact that while Enarmor does sound great in theory, it's locked to your Dancer, so you either have to give up on making Plum your Dancer, or putting her in an awkward position where half of the time where you can use Enarmor you would rather spend dancing. It might be ok on... idk Maps 21 and 37? It would have been way better if someone like Enteh could have used Enarmor or if it was Lee's Prf.
    Meriel and Maruj should be close to each other. Meriel does have better tomes than Maruj, but she is much harder to train. Starlight tanks her EXP gain and Fire is a horrible weapon type. Enjoy having to connect Fire hits while also being weighed down so much that you can't double shit. Aura Rain sounds awesome in a vacuum until you realize that you have to wait 5 turns to use it, and by that point most of the enemies have been cleared out by your high movement units. It's only good in Map 37 and that's it.
    Maruj in contrast doesn't have the fancy tomes Meriel has, but he compensates with near-perfect availability. Wundergust is twice as strong as Wind, has a ton of uses, and doesn't weigh a ton like Starlight does. It's also useful in Holmes Route since there are a ton of high defense with Shields. Map 11 is a great chapter for him since it's both an indoors map, meaning that he doesn't really fall behind there, and he gets a ton of free EXP from the reinforcements. He should be promoted by the end of Route Split 2, and by the time he joins back on Runan's Route he's great on Maps 34 and 37 against Tanks and Draco Zombies. He might be worse than Alicia if you play Map 11 first, but if you don't then he easily blows her out of the water if you delay that map.
    Are Enteh and Katri really good enough to justify being in A tier? I don't think that being a Physic bot is enough to justify such a massive placement. Maybe in Katri's case since her Neuron transformation is actually important in Map 21 but beyond that I don't really see the appeal.
    San is way too high. Probably the 2nd most overrated unit in the game behind Samson. 2nd Narron doesn't mean much when the game by this point has given you so many good cavs for free. Roger, Mintz and Raphael don't need heavy investment to be good, so it just makes San look redundant. Being Holmes' Narron is also not as great as it sounds when half of that route is a Sierra Romp and the other half is a Renee Romp. Not sure why she is 7 places higher than Estelle, who at least has availability.
    How is Runan somehow in C tier, while Xeno and Attrom are in B? Runan at least has contributions in Maps 1, 3, and 7, as well as some Rapier chip on Maps 11 and 17. He also doesn't really fall behind since Seafarer and Urbanite boosts him to 6 movement. Xeno has the exact same bases as Runan, yet has no niche to speak of whatsoever. I don't know how anyone can say he's worth using when you can just teach Slayer to any of your units. Vega doesn't even need Slayer and he's still about as good as a trained up Xeno lmao.
    Frau and Tom should be higher. Frau only needs one Mastery Potion to use Levins, which is pretty relevant in Runan's Endgame since Sasha is most likely in Holmes Route to make re-recruiting Kate much easier. Toms has a ton of contributions throughout the game, from blocking the chokepoint in Map 9, to chipping undead with Slayer, to being one of the best units in the Arena, the point is that at least he can do SOMETHING. That alone justifies him being at least C or even B tier at worst. Definitely better than trash like Norton.

    H. Globally agree with everything with one notable exception, Krishna doesn't have Locktouch so she can't even open chests or doors, and can only do stealing duties. However, she is bad even at that with her awful bases and growths, imo one of the worst unit in the entire franchise.

    Interesting that this tier list is pretty gender-balanced. Also you can tell it's a Kaga game because all of the underage units except for the slave dancer and magical girls suck.

    Putting Norton in D is a very hot take when he can easily be one of your tankiest cavs. Always a solid option for the team; basically New Mystery Draug on a horse. I'm surprised Juni isn't higher considering she has the capacity to become a dancer, and she's pretty much built for it like Lara.

      My guy, what are you talking about?
      How does Juni become a dancer exactly I’m very curious
      How exactly does new mystery draug qualify as a tanky unit when he gets one rounded in the first chapter of the game by generic brigands in is base class? I understand that he is a good unit but certainly not because of his defense which is entirely due to his knight class and not high enough to actually function in that class.
      There is no shot you’re not shitposting

      @@lightbrand_ Having Juni become a dancer follows some very questionable design joices of th game and decision choises of the player if they're aware of what they're doing.
      Basically, ou have to make her visit a certain house. She'll get drugged and dragged off (leaves the group obviously) and enslaved.
      You'll find her a few chapters later on again, but as a dancer were you can re-recruit her.
      It's a very particular process and people playing blind won't stumble over it other than pure chance.

      Even if Norton is a tanky cav, you don't really have a shortage of those. Raffin, Narron, Zeke and Rafael are all cavs that will easily get enough defense to not die easily, have more movement than a promotet Norton, and most importantly, don't need to go through a training arc with 3 movement. Roger and Mintz are less tanky, but also don't require any resources to be usable. And once you are willing to slow down to grind Norton, you might as well use San.
