      Hello Zach, can you help me find the best shoe for Padel courts here in europe ? I'm coming from a ankle sprain (level II partial tear) recovery ( did it in basket because I also play basketball) ? Some sites refer to the Gel Resolution versions, but to be honest, I don't know wich version would be better (outsole thread meaning) ? Clay ? all arround ? dunno

    I've been wearing the Gel Dedicate 7 for almost 9 months now. It is showing signs of wearing down now though. It has a great design and a phenomenal price. I play around 7 hours of tennis a week and this has held up pretty great. Might want to get new pairs now, but Another 7 may be the way to go!

    Great review! Gel Challenger is another great budget offering from Asics. Very similar to the dedicate: a bit harder foam in the midsole than the Gel Res and the outsole rubber is more sticky and not as durable.

    Another great video...you are the absolute best source for tennis shoe reviews and comparisons. I was wondering, though, if on the suicide you changed from pushing off on the same leg for every line to switching legs if you would get a faster time? It would also help strengthen your left leg as you're pushing off the right every time. (I.e. run out and push off right, return to doubles side line and push off left). The one negative of this would it would change a variable from past times that would limit direct comparison those past times.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  2 года назад +1

      I’m a creature of habit haha that’s how I’ve always done them so switching would prob land me in a cast

    • @dougtennis5147
      @dougtennis5147 2 года назад +1

      @@FootDoctorZach It's such a great test, too, I always have to lace up a little tighter for suicides and you really know how a shoe is going to work out after changing direction quickly like that.

    “Durable Almost to a Fault”. I wish I could agree. The reason is that, for the GR, I always wear out the outsole before any of the rest of the shoe changes. I only get 4+ months out of the GR. 6-9 hrs/wk mostly doubles. The GP Turbo has at least 20 hrs and shows no tread wear. The squish might happen before the tread is worn out. For me, the GR is dead when there is no traction. Time for me to use the durability guarantee, I suppose. I might try the Dedicate, but I should not risk forefoot pain. I like how you explain the tongue, etc. construction. That would be preferred over the GR that is stiff with under-padded tongue. It is a big shoe to fill as well. Keep up the great work.

    I have the Gel Dedicate 7. I bought them since I was looking for a durable shoe. Indeed, they look super durable, my comfy Adidas lasted 1 year, and these Asics look like they could last at least 3. However, they were very uncomfortable and after 30 hours of use I would say the break in period already happen and they continue being very uncomfortable. So much that now I'm looking for new shoes to substitute them. So, they ended up being very expensive in that sense.

    The gel dedicate was hard for first few months, I had to physically stretch and twist them with hand to make it pliable, now it works great . But, it has a harder cushioning , sticky sole and amazingly stable shoe, but I am looking to change to more cushiony shoe.

    Hey, I would love if you made a comparison between the gel resolution 8 and the gel challenger 13. They seem to have the same outsole, so would be very interesting to see if the gel resolution is worth the extra 30’percent or so in price. Hope you’ll consider it!

    • @Hedgehog1039

      I have both, I thought the 13s were great, after using the 8s for a while I went back to the 13s which resulted in foot pain and discomfort. So the 8s are probably more omcofrtable adn forgiving on the foot with less of a firm feel, especially in the arch. The 13s felt more planted to me though.

    TLDR; I want more expensive, premium looking shoes but they don't fit me as well as this cheap Dedicate. Been wearing a pair of Dedicate's 7 for almost 1,5 year now, and in the meantime have ordered more expensive Asics models like Solution Speed, Challenger and Resolutions to have a more premium (feeling and looking) shoe, but they just don't fit me right as the Dedicate does!! I have just given up and just ordered a new pair of the Dedicate 7 and also the Dedicate 8 that I just stumbled upon the Asics site. Hope the 8 gets reviewed here too :).

    Hi. If you see this comment by any chance, I have a quick question: I’m a bit over a year after a trimaleolar fracture at work followed by ORIF, I feel quite good right now and was looking for a good model from ASICS that covers the following: good for the heel where most of the feel of pain comes from sometimes, good support for ankle, light and maybe some knit/mess material to be able to wash gently with some soapy warm water once in a while and be able to dry after and why not be able to use it for tennis because I would like to try again to play some soon. Thank you!

    Hey Doc, I was thinking what if when you do the serve test the 5 serves would be done barefoot as a baseline then the next 5 with the shoes.
    Then, divide the shoe serve height by the barefoot serve height to get a percentage of how much more height you got.
    Thanks for all the wonderful reviews

    Great review. I wonder if at some point, you can measure durometer instead of Dremel. The Gel Res has a pretty soft outsole, I wore through it quickly. It is grippy and not too noisy, so performance is good and it provides some cushioning. The Asics Solution Sp. ff 2 has a slightly harder, noisier, and more slippery outsole, but it is also more durable imho.

Obviously you are a person who has been spared from losing someone to suicide, but as a parent who lost his son I can tell you using that work out of context is very hurtful, something I know is not your intention.
