Becca both the beef stew and the spaghetti MRE’s are good I grew up eating them since I come from a military family.
Some MRE’s come with candy.
I was in the United States, Marine Corps, and I can tell you exactly where to get MRE’s, one place is Amazon sells them for about $25-$30 apiece or you can go to any military surplus store and they should have them there
the area i was in didn’t have any military surplus stores around me for HOURS that sold single packaged ones. they were selling them in bulk only for well over $100 which, i did not have lol
Wow I didnt realize how much they go for, my sister brought my brother and I like 6 when she came home from Afghanistan I loved the chili mac big time and the chicklets

I was in the marines in 1983 to 1989 and the MREs were ok. Joined the army national guard in 2000 and the MREs were 100s of times better. From 2000 to 2011 they improved much more. I lived off of them for the first month of my deployment to Iraq.

thank you for your service. my old goalie coach for my hockey team for in the marines as well! he only had one leg and still managed to play hockey. he was an awesome coach, he might’ve made me cry a couple times but he shaped me. LOL

I've had MREs a few times post-hurricanes, and I've never disliked them. Quite entertaining during the "cooking" process. The breads block you up like a sumbitch, though.

Lol! I love when RUclipsrs/fellow travelers take an interest in trying an MRE. I did 9yrs in the AF so I’ve had my share. Chicken tortellini & cheeseburger Mac was always my favorite. Getting jalapeño cheddar spread or skittles was gold. Stayed away from anything egg related.

For the longest time now, "mountain house" was contracted to make military mre. Which explains why they are pretty darn good. So good it makes you wanna punch someone! Hahaha, classic

You can get mres online or most army surplus stores, they are super easy to find if you want more in the future. The chicken burrito one you got is a good one!

I was never keen on MREs myself, but lemon lime "carbohydrate-electrolyte beverage powder" kept me alive at least once, and I'd happily eat some dehydrated oats with milk & blueberries right now 🤌🫐

If you ever want to pick out your own MRE usually you can get them at any army surplus store. Plus a lot of other gear that can be used for camping. 😂

Difference is they come out of docent boxes that are usually 12 in a box. I have about 15 boxes full for when I go out. Some are awesome some not so much lol. Dodnt eat them for a while after I got out but decided to stock up

I use the US MRE's here in the UK too for fishing, the one with jalapeno cheese is my favourite. I always overfill them too lol.

Those pop tart were always dry for me, chili Mac was my favorite MRE and sometimes came with jalapeno cheese and of course Tabasco sauce

During ww2 and Vietnam/Korea era.Era.. they came with 4 cigarettes too.. but those aren't knaopkins..that's tp..lol
after eating them for 90+ days at a time, can't get over how many civis find these amazing lol. Yes the sulphur fart smell is normal. Also when I was in we didn't have nice ones like that, 2000's era we had Turkey Ala King and Veggie Omlette :)

You gotta be careful when heating up those mre's. They can get to a boiling temperature. But also the fumes that are coming out of the bag from the reaction produces hydrogen, which is flammable. It can also displace oxygen in a very small area.

when I was in the ARMY I preferred the MREs over the "HOT" food in the field. also when overseas the best dining facilities were the AIR FORCE ones. to this day I still like MREs sadly someone gave me 2 boxes they had unknowing that they expired :( and yes MREs do expire.

You should do some salt water fishing from shore or piers ..... Salt water is great place for content
Warning about that stinky heater. That's really bad to breathe in. Probably didn't hurt with just one but try not to do that again. I can't remember the exact chemical. Be careful. Those MRE's are the newest and completely different from the 80s to the end of the 90s. We had fun stuff like dehydrated fruit too some sort of dehydrated meat patty. Enjoy not using the restroom for a few days. Oh and one meal contains 3000 calories. One meal is good for a whole day.

Next time heat your tortillas under the heater while meal heats. Makes them a bit better. Dont try to use the TP, which is what you thought was a paper towel. Lol. It doesnt do much for ya.
Still eating MREs from the hurricanes you can make all kind of stuff with them some people don't like them but better than prison food any day 🤣

Let's see.... First, I'd rather watch you trying MREs than some of the people I've seen. There are three different companies producing MREs for the military, Ameriqual, Sopakco and Wornick. Chopping up your pork patty and mixing it into your hash browns would have been the best way to go. You got a hot beverage bag and no coffee? Strange. From a fellow vet, thanks to Bart!
