I'm missing SA from the day my husband decided to move abroad. There is no place, no sunshine, no food, no language, no street community, no school sport, no family gathering, no church singing like in SA. Home is where your heart is, and my heart is in SA!
I know what you are going through. We emigrated in 1993 and I was so homesick. But hung in there for our children's sake. In 2001 I went back to SA, but it was no longer the country I grew up in. Perhaps it's different for people born in new millenium
Home is where we all belong. We might have our problems as the nation of South Africa, but we are much greater than our problems. We have much more good than bad and a lot to be grateful for. It's heartwarming to hear from you♥️
Please…the ppl of SA also keep it alive. Don’t just blame politicians. Multiculturalism does not and will never work. Keep lying to yourself if that makes you feel better.
It's tough having to clean Ur own house, mow the grass wash Ur car. The weather is shit. Making friends is tough and inviting other cultures to a Barbie just isn't a braai. Their bush is green and wet and windy and frozen. Ja, rather put up with the 3rd grade nonsense here, it's kak but exciting
I 💯 % agree with you both. I was born and educated in Switzerland and moved to South Africa in 1964 at the age of 22. I am celebrating my 60th anniversary in South Africa this year and have no regrets moving to this wonderful country with all it's shortcomings. And make no mistake, there are many more shortcomings in the collective West than in South Africa.
I've spoken to many, MANY Europeans in South Africa, and every single one of them have expressed nothing but praise and admiration for this country. Thank you sir! 🙏🏻
Being in the tourist industry in SA, we have tons of Europeans coming here to look to settle here. Especially Germans who reckon the US has decimated Germany with their ideology! They all reckon the EU has no future.
I was born England 63 came to Africa 66. Zambia, Rhodesia Botswana here in 77. U can't live elsewhere once lived in Africa. The bush gets into you. The indigenous population can be absolutely horrendous especially in SA but gets better north. Black governments are all the same failures. Other than that, let's braai

We moved back to SA last year after 5 years in Canada. There is no place like home. You can't beat SA weather, food and people. No regrets coming back. Loving exploring our own country now. We have a new appreciation for this place after being away for 5 years.
South Africa is a true land of freedom … if you havnt lived abroad you will never understand how fortunate South African s are and how dynamic our culture is
Been living in the UK since 2001 and we are coming back. Yes you might be earning pounds but the cost of living is way too high. This summer we have had 2 days of sunshine and summer is going to be finished soon. SA is still the best 🇿🇦
For those who have eyes to see, South Africa will have to go through the fire first to become a better country. Most people fear the fire. Some of us are willing to stand the fire.
@@Onelove-Oneheart-h4c objectively we can say we're going through fire right now and though it stands to reason that an ultimate breaking point is supposed to bring about change its not guaranteed. Zimbabwe and Venezuela are good examples of that. We can only hope and pray for good leaders to bring us out of the mess we're in and I think the pressure we've had to ensure for 30 years under the anc has brought enough will for people to want to do better.
....I lived in England for 4&half years, you couldn't pay me enough to go back. I'm watching your channel for the first time, its brilliant. You've gained a subscribe.
I lived in the UK for a few years and all I can remember are wet pavements, wet buildings and dark winters. I hated Mondays and lived for Saturdays so I could escape to the countryside. I came back home in 2007 and have never contemplated leaving again.
I retired as a teacher at age 56 here in SA! This would have been impossible in most countries! Pensions are under threat in the US, Canada, etc Im so grateful that i did my stint of employment and have the resources to live comfortably !🙏
Been back 2 years myself. I still cant adapt to SA. In the 4 years I was gone it has deteriotated significantly. I get their point. But my experience is not what is being said on this podcast
Since the West is in the decline since 2008, I knew from that moment it's no point relocating to England or America and it's best to stay put in South Africa. Yes South Africa has its problems but we're far more prepared to handle it than the Western countries.
I always get frustrated how Europeans and Americans don have freedom, even in what they call democracies. As a South African, am used to my liberties in my country and I can't imagine living with the restrictions in Europe and America. And as South Africans, we love our freedom and we are always ready to fight for it. I definitely wouldn't survive outside of my country ☝🏾😂😂😂
@PMZInternational-le6rk I worked in the States for a year, and as an older South African, was the level of control when compared to here. Australia and NZ are even worse as I discovered during an extended visit. Within chaos is freedom! 😁
Moving out of SA and now with the experience of both sides. Its been 7 long years out if SA and now the longing to return back is at its peak, so see you soon lovely South Africa. 😊
Nowadays I disregard the words of all the "experts" who keep saying how bad things are in SA, and how much worse they will get. Time and again South Africans have proved their willingness to overcome. The racial divide and crime comes from the few, not the many.
That's because you live in a bubble protected with high barbed wire. It's like saying are safe in the middle of Ukraine because you have a bunker and patriot system.🤣 Does the majority have access to bunkers?
Like you I lived abroad for 24 years (Austria, Switzerland, UK, Germany) and worked in the former Soviet Union countries for 14 of those years. Came back to SA in 2014... on purpose. So pleased to be here. The Us And the European countries are now leaderless and infected with wholeness. The overall zeitgeist is dire. You are so right!
I live in Nam I would not move for anything I love Africa I was born here my family has been here for 100 years I am a African. I belong in Africa now.
In 1999 I went to Angola for business. I was so traumatized 😫 by the way of life there in Luanda the stench to such an extent that when I arrived in the then Jan's Smuts Airport kissed the ground and vowed not to complain about South Africa again and I haven't. South Africa 🇿🇦 is the best and I have traveled all over the world except Australia. Let's make it work and stop being haters for South Africa 🇿🇦. Love South Africa 🇿🇦. As a German, I agree 100% with what is said in that video. EU is going down the drain, and the economy, especially in Germany, gets ruined to the core. Daily living is getting more and more expensive, especially electricity. The biggest problem is flooding Europe with young muslim men, so-called migrants. SA has its problems, but in comparison to Europe, it is doing very well. The main thing is that SA should stay away from green ideology and use its resources.
EU's energy crisis is due to the Russian's invasion of Ukraine. The EU is so beholden to Russia and the only way to go is 'green'. I agree immigration is a problem but how do we stop these civil wars in these countries so that people do not need to flee. One way is for the West to stop selling them weapons. However 'bad' Europe is painted its still great to live in a place where your basic needs are met and where there is performance base employment. Obviously things are not perfect... it's wonderful to live in SA if you are rich for everyone else it's a miserable existence.
Well I'd say green energy makes a lot more sense in South Africa than elswhere, due to the favourable weather conditions. But overall I agree, an over-reliance on green tech to solve the energy crisis is definitely not advisable.
1000%. Couldn’t agree more. We moved to EU for a better future for the kids 5 years ago… we want to come home again…. Europe has changed so dramatically over the last 5 years, it’s unbelievable. SA still has many opportunities and way less control
I’m a white male and I landed back in South Africa on the 2 July and already opportunities are being thrown at me from all sides. I’m astounded at how positive and excited everyone in SA is about the future.
Well, it's only because of the euphoria around the DA/ANC romance that favours your people and disadvantages the black majority. It wont last long and you will soon be packing again🤣🤣🤣
"Dis lekker om te bewe hier in Gautengeleng" - Leon Schuster South Africa is messed up in it's own ways, but it's home and I don't think my husband and I would ever leave. For better or for worse.
Agree with you guys 100% .thankyou for an interesting discussion. SA is on its way up and has been through what USA and Europe are still going to go through. We are far more tolerant of each other than them as far as religion and race are concerned. Lekker to live in SA now
I work in the UK as a live in carer. But would never live in the UK, it’s in decay. I can’t handle the lack of space and rows and rows of untidy houses. My pet peeve😅 people not great either. I miss the noise of SA and the happy people laughing loudly and smiling. SA is my home.
Awe.. South Africa ♥️🇿🇦.. The best place. ❤All South Africans. Uit blou van onse hemels & uit die diepte van ons see. Sal die kranse antwoord gee. U go South Africans. ❤❤
One thing to keep in mind when you come over here. Do not expect the quantity of life you are used to in South Africa, but you will have a quality of life. I am quite satisfied with the small house I bought in the Netherlands, and I am living a modest life. I do not need more than I have now. I can pay my bills, keep my family fed, and I can still go on holiday. What more do I want? Not even to mention that I can walk around at night without fearing being robbed or killed, and my windows have no burglar bars. I will say, however, the majority of Europe is quite bad. I might look at retiring in South Africa someday, but it depends on the state of the country when that time arises.
Your honesty is valued, South Africans don't have a problem with living abroad, they have a problem with abroad countries not giving them the same life they have here, which is clearly a lavish life so they get butt hurt and move back lol.
I would encourage you to remain in the Netherlands for your autumn years, regardless of how much better South Africa might be doing by that time. I find it selfish that someone would abandon a group project and then expect to reap its rewards along with those who actually stayed behind to work on it. It is also a further slap in the face of every patriotic South African that your return is conditional.
Thanks for this comment- I’m in the UK and definitely had to ‘downgrade’ but there are benefits- as you mention, not having a constant adrenaline rush and, especially as a woman, the fear is debilitating. Had serious PTSD when I left SA the first time to move abroad- 2 family members murdered and a colleague - but I do miss Cape Town!
@@chillyman7340 exactly. Some people just return home to access cheap domestic workers. Lots of privileges being a middle class SA in SA which you will definitely not have in the ‘West’
As a Zimbabwean who became a South African, I wouldn't go back there but I wouldn't want to move to the UK or Australia either. South Africa may have many traits of Zimbabwe, but the difference is South Africa has people fighting for it. There isn't a military who can kill their people (hi Angie!) so South Africa has the amazing ability to become something far bigger than anyone could dream of.

I'm a Zimbo. While there is currently no hope, if that country (Zim) kicks out those bastards holding everyone hostage we will very easily overtake SA. Why? No culture of entitlement, no endless strikes, no political violence, peace loving, non-violent people, educated population, and oodles of potential currently stifled by ZANU PF. Unlock that and Rwanda will look lie a joke... as amazing as it is.
Guess what, I was surprised to be answered by a South African when I rang my electricity company in the UK. The company has out sourced it's customer handling activities to SA. So SA will be an economic giant going forward

I am coming back to SA in September for a holiday after 40 years away, having lived in the UK and now in New Zealand. I will let you know what I think.
Watching this just about crying. I moved to Ireland from Jozi almost 6 years ago. Absolutely miserable and watching the "first world" become actual hell. Every day since we arrived is misery. Discriminated against at every turn. It's okay to be racis to us because we're WHITE SOUTH AFRICANS and apparently deserve it. I had more opportunities in SA than I ever have here. All I want is to go back 😭
I have spent 3 months in SA in 2023 coming from Ireland I loved SA yes it has its problems but I agree with the two guys the country has massive potential there is no issue in SA that can not be solved the country has and abundance of resources
Agree with much of what you said as a loyal South African who misses the sunshine every day! Crime however remains off the scale, and will unfortunately remain so unless both short-term solutions - e.g., real deterrents for crime are put in place, and long-term solutions such as adressing one of the most unequal societies in the world.
The thing is, people with money always say"money is not everything". People that had the oppertunity to emmigrate, did and are not happy, but when you don't have other option, you have to stay and be unhappy. To Byron, most people in SA can't affort to buy a R1.6 mil house or a R600k car in SA.
Byron and Roman clearly both have money and I'm sure it's quite a lot of money like more than the average South African. This factor takes a lot away from their argument and what they are saying, in many cases it's hard to take them seriously but they still do make good commentary.
You must find your own way in life and definitely NOT count on politicians to do that for you. If you do that, you will have to live off scraps they throw at you for your vote. Vote DA therefore. No gov do everything right but let the WC be your example how to get most things right.
Cost of living in UK is high compared to SA. Even in 2003 when I visited there. Yes making money in pounds makes sense but not spending those pounds. Maybe if on lives there permanently, there may be cost benefits from government perspective ?? Ex-colleague who went there confirmed not easy to buy houses. SA is value for money, if only we can sort politics out.
been living in the UK for over 20 years now and we voted Reform UK in the last elections as the other parties are far left... We have been planning our return to SA for a while now to retire in langebaan (probably in the next 5-10 years), we are just currently saving like mad in order to put a massive deposit down on a property.
I was in the states for 10 years went when I turned 20. Worked in IT (Software )for 10 years rented a shitty place but sent most of my money back home. I would have my parents purchase property once a year until i had 6. Once i had enough saving (in my case 1.5) i come back. Been here 4 years now. There are issues yes but I'm glad to be back.
You are naive show us any government around the world that is not corrupt not that we condone corruption 🤔. But we are tired of this broken record 😅Gogo/grandma from Soweto South Africa. If there is Corruption there's a Corruptor. Who has the money to fund Corruption the Black's or the White South Africans. Just do your sums. We must direct the Corruption to all of us. Stop bribing the government officials you people with money then corruption will disappear. Corruption isn't a one way street as you try to depict it. We are all involved and responsible for the Corruption.
Moved back from the UK 16 years ago , lived in KZN for 13 then western cape till now . Don’t regret moving and making a good life in western cape . Did a European back pack trip from Germany France and UK last year for the World Cup Europe is way different from what I remember. It’s now an absolute 💩 and that was before all the protesting that we seeing now . Stay here in S.A it’s definitely greener than over there .
As Joost (chairman of Orania) said: We are not interested in Europe, We belong here!!! Let people migrate who choose to do so, We are building our future ourself right here!!! Orania doubled their population in the last 5 years and will be doubling in the next 5 years, unemployment 2%, crime per capita lowest in SA, avarage annual economic growth 25-30%.. not everyone is afrikaner but why can't we learn from them and create more such places?? Where locals run their towns not polical parties
The fact you listen to people like him says it all, you're not a south african, you're a European as you've been saying since before 94, you're not from this place, and I want you to remember that.
As a South African Indian who won't qualify to live in Orania I have to admit they have the right idea and are doing well.... the lesson to learn from them is that they are doing it for themsleves, look at the community side of it and the non reliance on governemnt. We can all build such communities based on other common principles that keep the community devoted to a common purpose, they use their Afrikaans culture we could use something else.... don't throw the baby put with the bath water just because they make it Afrikaans only and we equate that with race...lets not dismiss the success story that we can learn from, if you listen to them with an open mind u will see that it's not about race but culture.... they don't let in non Afrikaans white people either so it's not race but culture.... let's take the lesson and leave out the racism....
@@The_First_Sean I will listen to people like him the proof is in the pudding, go see how well that place is running and business booming.. Europe is rooted in and focussed on the past. South Africa can concentrate on its future. It's a more exciting place to live, physically and emotionally.
In my 76th year, I'm sure not going anywhere. Where would I go anyway? The "West" is plainly kaput, at least for another 2 or 3 generations. Besides, I've recently realised (took me a while!) that I'm actually a white African with a great affection for this beautiful, rambustuous, always interesting, imperfect place and people. It's in my blood and arthritic old bones. We've much left to get right (no word-play intended) but we'll find our own solutions.
The truth of the matter is that there are places in every country worth living if you have the money. You will struggle to find competent governments in the western world. If you have money, you can find a decent home and live a decent life almost anywhere in the world. If you don’t have the money, then everywhere will be a struggle. SA should provide many opportunities but the unemployment rate suggests that most ppl are struggling and will be struggling for a long time. Only the privileged would suggest SA as a great option.
@accountretired9479 I still love SA don't get me wrong I already miss alot back home including our weather , it's just the culture here is beautiful people are so friendly everyone smiles and greets , SA was like that when I was like 13 now everyone is worried the person they walk past might rob them
I have held some of these opinions for a while, but still strongly considered immigration to Aus or NZ. But some insights i didn't quite have. You have given me a bit of peace of mind, and may have nudged me a bit in the direction of staying.
I've been waiting for a long time now for someone in the media to present this viewpoint. The herd mentality that has seen me say goodbye to many friends and colleagues has gone largely unchallenged. We seem to have only one metric by which we make the decision to leave and that is economic prosperity. That was more clearly the case about 20 years ago but now even that is highly questionable, never mind the fact that it's such a narrow-minded view of what makes life worth living. Individuals will have their own unique experiences and circumstances that necessitate leaving but I fear with most it is simply the unfounded belief that a better life awaits them on the other side.
Been living in Ireland for over 6 years. People are so rude and depressed here. Everyone says " Oh, the Irish are the friendliest nation in the world." they are certainly not, not even close! Getting housing is near impossible, and it is very expensive even by European standards. Everything is old, outdated, cooped up, moulded, and wet. Left beyond help. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK HOME!
Hi my fellow SA in IRE!! Bru, I am SOOOO tired of this life that I'm heading back in a couple of months. Also, you forgot about the dust. Everywhere. All the time. Let's be grateful we got to see what other South Africans couldn't and be so so so happy to be heading back to our beautiful country. Good luck and hang in there!!
I agree with your these today. I lived in America for 30 years . I have been back 10 years. Hands down there is more freedom here than out there anywhere.
I live in Australia, but still miss home, however there are every little wrong with Australia. If RSA can fix their crime, unemployment, and economy, I will move back. In the meantime, I will get paid in dollars and be in a safe environment for my kids.
I have been working around the world for the last 10 years, and I can tell you that South Africa is the best place to live in. Nothing like home! The world around are just crazy, entitled and woke AF. I will never leave my country.
If you considering moving to UK, try Jersey in the Channel Islands. Other than property that’s expensive, everything else is perfect, safety (0 murders), GP,dental and hospital appointments can be made and had the same day, government literally pays you to have a child (but crèche fees are expensive up until 3), free school, up to 1 year maternity leave for women and up to 9 weeks paid for husbands. More sunnier weather than UK, beach braai allowed. And almost 5% of population is South African (5000/100000).
😂😂😂any country who has an indigenous population from Africa, Pakistan, Muslims etc migrating in, has serious problems. However, if you had paid attention to the ruses of the secret societies you would know why they allowing it. Breaking down Caucasian culture by mashing is part of the plan. Wake up

My aim is to stay in Australia for ~ 4 - 5 years. But only as I got a PR residency 4 years ago. The aim is to earn Australian $ during those years (I'm in the physical oceanography research field). Luckily the weather is like ours (that is important to me). However, I FULLY get all the issues and hence why I cannot live there (forever) and the actual freedoms here you get and not Australia (I've been there 3 times on short stints) ... hence the only objective to build up money and bring back here to be set up........ But Europe - forget it! But if/when I go soon - it's certainly not forever. Not emigrating. I know many people say it before going and never come back. I know I am different. This land is part of me and I simply cannot do without it forever. I just need for $$$$$$ to be setup.
My plan is exactly as yours, im gonna work in aus for 15 years to boost my retirement with the better pay and also if the kids want the opportunities but then I'm most probably back to retire here in SA. No way ill go to UK, USA or europe, no fkn way, i got an opportunity in canda as well but i don't want it.
I think we're still going through a hellscape right now
We have been in the fire for along time.
@Ravishrex1 I am talking inferno. The only way to change the country is through some radical change. Those who stand to lose will fight back.
@dandre3504 it's all relative. Depends on what you compare our situation with. Yes, it is bad compared to the past 20 years.

Since the West is in the decline since 2008, I knew from that moment it's no point relocating to England or America and it's best to stay put in South Africa. Yes South Africa has its problems but we're far more prepared to handle it than the Western countries.
What I love about this channel... it confirms my thoughts on so many topics.

Until you have actually lived abroad in any of the so called "first world" countries, people wont know how much freedom we still have here in SA.
Truthful statement.
Absolutely. It's OK to travel overseas, but live there permanently is different.

Amen..... drill baby drill....
Exactly.
Well I'd say green energy makes a lot more sense in South Africa than elswhere, due to the favourable weather conditions. But overall I agree, an over-reliance on green tech to solve the energy crisis is definitely not advisable.

I have spent 3 months in SA in 2023 coming from Ireland I loved SA yes it has its problems but I agree with the two guys the country has massive potential there is no issue in SA that can not be solved the country has and abundance of resources
Yep, people say crime is the biggest issue in SA, yet it's the easiest to fix imo, just with a non-ANC majority government
People tend to forget all the countries have issues. South Africa is home. I love my home. ❤🇿🇦

One thing I do not agree with is "prices are fine" in South Africa clearly you do not do your own shopping, The cost of living is just going up.
Getting ridiculous now.
Still cheap as chips
It's because we're still paying homage to the dying dollar. It'll get better under a BRICS system. We need more productivity though!!
They mean SA is cheap compared to Europe
Also. There is also the threat of nuclear war in northern hemisphere. To an extent we will be better off here than there.
Despite all the problems we are facing in South Africa 🇿🇦 we still have some of the best people and a beautiful Country that just needs a little love and support 🧡
And not to forget our Springboks, Best Rugby Team in the World, thats why Im Staying! (Next Ireland and Newzeland 😁)
Good video chaps👍
Im from Zimbabwe.... lived in UK and Italy... loves Italy hated Uk. Zimbabwe is tough... very tough... but Africa is in my blood. My brother lives in UK. Misses Zim and africa everu day. My cousin lives in New Zealand misses South africa.. Africa has its problem... but outside Africa is worse.... and with the threat of world of war... Africa especially southern africa is home.
SOUTH AFRICA STILL THE BEST PLACE TO BE , AMID THE DAILY PAINS !
THIS COUNTRY JUST NEEDS A " REG SKUD" .ITS COMING.
" POLITICIANS" HAVE FAILED DUE TO THEIR SELFISH OWN INTERESTS ( MONEY) .
CANNOT RELY ON "POLITICIANS" BUT THIS REMAINS A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF NICE, GOOD PEOPLE.
I do like australia but SA is just the best, just look at the people, friendliest people ever, no religious problems although we are religiously mixed, we only got idiot politicians 😂😂😂😂
You know SA will always embrace you no matter how long it takes to come back. We are South Africa and nowhere else is like our home in SA
