killer harmonic at 58. great guitars produce great harmonics. this guitar is suhr one of them.
It's more awesome than that. That vocal technique is also used by jazz guitarists like George Benson. They remember every note and every pitch on the fretboard by following their playing with vocal sounds (singing-humming-othernoises). That way he'll immediately know (or have a very precise idea of) how to play every phrase that he comes up with.
I didn't detect a string out of tune, certainly no need to apologise. This is an amazing pedal, and can certainly be driven even harder than what was presented here, enough so to even meet the needs of hard rock and metal players. Thanks to Guthrie and John Suhr, what a great combination of talent.

Yes, I've noticed that too. And if you watch him play live, he is constantly tuning his guitar. The first thing we all learn about guitar, is that they are never really in tune. It's just the nature of strings and frets. Guthrie seldom has a guitar on with a lock nut, and that's a matter of personal choice. That's also part of the problem. He wants to be able to tune down or up or to just have that control. Go figure.

That bit at :30 that he just casually played would probably take me about a week of focused practice to sort out - and even then I'd probably need a run up!

@NeckPickup I doubt it but he should make it part of something! Guthrie is an absolute master at improv. Some of the sweetest runs and riffs I've ever heard have come from him off the top of his head.

you don't...
just use your left hand to do some hammer-on and pull-off, and then use your right hand to "touch" the string slightly. you'll hear what you want : )

A big part of how this guy can play the way he does is his very freaky long fingers.
Nature has geared him towards playing guitar. Some of us could NEVER pull off half of what he does because of finger length
im hearin ya but the guy has been playin since he was three. maximum dexterity without holdworth technique. look how often he doesnt use his little finger in some of them monster riffs. he dont have digits like gilbert but the agile fucker gets around plenty. it aint fingers. its attitude(i think). now stretch them fingers(and attitude) omstrat and stop making excuses. go for it!!!

That's what bad guitarists with small hands say to justify giving up. I don't think he stretched more than a 4 fret gap the entire video.

omstrat I read what you said. Maybe you should read it again in case you forgot. Saying things like that will discourage people with small hands from perusing guitar. Finger length is not "a big part of how he can play", and has nothing to do with being good at guitar whether it's played loudly or quietly. I have very small hands, and I haven't been limited by it whatsoever. The fact that you responded in such a condescending and immature way shows me what kind of person you are. Maybe since you get so many people who have no clue what you're saying, you should work on how you say it. Have some respect.

Is it just me or is Guthrie's guitars constantly going out of tune? I don't know how many video's I've seen him apologize for being out of tune, or is playing out of tune. he is pretty rough on the stings though...but still....
ignore how good guthries playing is for second and listen again that pedal actualy sounds pretty bad
he obviously must be joking about needing a tuner lol...he's must be trying to sound humble..like if he needs a tuner to tune a string

Guthrie's great, but the peddle sounds awful; cold and grainy. .
He is a liar. At 0:56 you can't do it with the pedal alone. You also need the pick-up and his hands.
