A terrifying experience?!?!? A terrifying experience is to be told to fly in weather like this. See, no one is questioning their skills. I believe the only thing in question now is the Airport Manager's Sanity!
Everyone knew the forecast for today! I am wondering how come that exactly the Airports missed it, especially if they are one of the places which update it regularly and AIRPORTS have their own meteorologist, who work at the Airport!

Kudos to all the engineers and test crews that design and test past the limits to make sure these aircraft are up to this. Kudos to the managers that get out of the way and let them do their thing. As an aside, if the crosswinds are out of limits, your pilot should not be trying this at home. Do not give anyone grief for landing somewhere else or holding for hours. PS - the lives were saved a long time ago by other people who figured out what the limits are.

The first pilot that landed was air Serbia and landing was actually smooth considering the conditions. He accepted landing without hesitation and landed from a first try but of course he wasn’t even shown here. That pilot should get some recognition but people are still biased towards Serbia

As a passenger my view was always if the pilot is up for a landing it must be safe -they know the risks -I don't and they are not going to risk their personal lives for my convenience when they can simply divert elsewhere

Because these are some of the best trained professionals in the world who are trained to handle a windy situation, and if they can't they divert, There was a British Airways flight from Chicago which was diverted to Geneva for example

So when we have easy days out, people say our jobs are too easy. These are the conditions we train for and constantly get put in the sim every 6 months to deal with. That’s when people realise we get paid a fair amount for conditions like these.
