Give every pilot an enormous round of applause, what skill, what micro second application of skill; deciding at the last second whether to land or go around. A tribute to their training and cool thinking.
No need to be scared when a pilot doesn't like the approach and decides to do a go-around, they're doing that because they're putting your safety first. Cross winds, however, can be pretty scary at times!

It's like being on a roller coaster having been on a plane landing in strong winds I know how it feels I was scared but thanks to the pilots we landed safely
Kudos to all the engineers and test crews that design and test past the limits to make sure these aircraft are up to this. Kudos to the managers that get out of the way and let them do their thing. As an aside, if the crosswinds are out of limits, your pilot should not be trying this at home. Do not give anyone grief for landing somewhere else or holding for hours. PS - the lives were saved a long time ago by other people who figured out what the limits are.

In my flying days, landing in a big crosswind, especially from the right (pilot in command on left side) , was a tough thing to do in a small aircraft. Kudos to these pilots in the airliners!!!

I was on the Dubai flight coming in this morning and the winds were horrific there was lots of screaming and crying and most people were just holding on for dear life we managed to land but it’s was definitely a very scary experience

Terrifying! Had a terrifying flight in the 80’s due to extreme turbulence and an hour holding pattern Denver, Colorado. Lightning strikes hitting the plan and extreme altitude drops. Have a fear of flying for the rest of my life.

I was in one of these TAPportugal flight from Lisboa to Manchester. Normally an Embraer E90 or E195 flies between the two airports. But the scheduled for the morning flight(TP1312) was cancelled due to the weather and an airbus 321 was run in the afternoon flight(TP1310). The plane landed at 16:00 hrs at Manchester, well ahead of the scheduled landing time of 16:30 but in one go, one attempt. Not a smooth one, but a safe one. Well done to crown the cockpit and cabin.

This storm was much stronger than the most recent ones we have had I worked when storm Eunice was with us and then winds were soooo strong hard to keep ur feet on the ground I work on the ramp!!
The first pilot that landed was air Serbia and landing was actually smooth considering the conditions. He accepted landing without hesitation and landed from a first try but of course he wasn’t even shown here. That pilot should get some recognition but people are still biased towards Serbia

The chances of something going wrong are incredibly low pilots go through intense training to them this isn't too hard and it's not like they can just cancel them all
As a passenger my view was always if the pilot is up for a landing it must be safe -they know the risks -I don't and they are not going to risk their personal lives for my convenience when they can simply divert elsewhere

Because these are some of the best trained professionals in the world who are trained to handle a windy situation, and if they can't they divert, There was a British Airways flight from Chicago which was diverted to Geneva for example
So when we have easy days out, people say our jobs are too easy. These are the conditions we train for and constantly get put in the sim every 6 months to deal with. That’s when people realise we get paid a fair amount for conditions like these.
So many flight arrivals were delayed because of the storm causing the airport to be packed i had to wait 4 hours for my mum to come to arrivals even tho she had already landed at the specified time landing

I was one of those passengers on the 11:17 BA FLIGHT from Miami. Absolutely shitting myself. Many people were being sick

Surprised the flights were not cancelled or set to land at another airport for 24hrs so the weather improved making it safer for all.

In Madeira island this quite common, pilots need a special training to land there due to strong cross winds.
