We start our on the water prospecting hitting spots around Duck Key and the Hawks Cay Resort. The plan for the day was to hit multiple areas so that I can come back later to focus on the fishing when the circumstances are better. Found some good spots, bait, and even caught a fish.

I have stayed at Hawks Cay twice now and the last time I was there I caught a 40 lb tarpon right outside my condo in the bay about 50 feet away from the condo!! Also big Cudas were all over the place too. Duck Key rocks man!!
Yep, remember staying there years ago. The fishing just out of the marina was surprisingly good. You could catch keeper mangroves off the docks.
pmang6 Yea man I took my twin 12 yr old daughters down to the docks and we caught a limit of nice keeper Mangroves in about 2.5 hrs😎👍👍. Cooked em up and they were great!!!!
@@jayjohnson9668 I’m going to hawks cat in a few days. Where should I go to fish?
@@lookoooooo yea man good for you. Well you are right in the middle of good fishing all around you. Like I said there is good fishing right inside Hawks Cay. There are plenty of areas all around the property you can fish and they all can be good! But also right outside of the resort on US 1 there are plenty of bridges and roadside areas you can fish from the bank. I like to go south and fish the numerous bridges. Just explore and like I said there is great fishing all around where you are…..good luck my man!😎
Fishing again, finally!
I love Duck Key.
Great day!
Dude I appreciate so much that you share your spots and details about fishing your home grounds. Most people Will just say “fishing in the keys”
Been staying at Hawks Cay for years. Very familiar with that area and have caught tarpon right out of my backdoor there😎
Jeeze been a while finally back enough of the business
Thank you Cap'n! I can breathe again!!! ❤❤❤
About time!
Was starting to become a home designer channel, hahaha 😎👍
Thanks for filming...i used to fish middle keys a lot back in 80s and 90s...i sure miss it...
Yeah!! Back on the water, looks like some good water 👍🏾
Excellent! Im glad you're back in the kayak. I hope your transition is going well.
Great video!
The permit feed on a horseshoe shaped bar/flat on the bay side of tom harbor bridge
Used to vacation on Conch Key, there are some good flats and channels just west of Long Key Bridge.
Of course the first fish you catch in your new stomping grounds is your absolute favorite fish, the ever present JACK! ;)
Finaly back on the water Steve must feel good , look like the new spot is promising , keep up the good work!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can’t wait for you to grab some bait and fish that bridge that’s gonna be a super sweet one
Right oh steve. Find them spots for me. I fish duck key almost everyday in febuary
Nice to see you back at it. I've been traveling to Marathon for the last few years so I'm really interested to see where you have some good fishing.
Glad you're actually getting to fish now buddy
Awesome! I know you need to explore but im ready to see you catch a few snappers.
Love this channel, been subscribed for a long time, and will continue to do so, sir you are living the dream!!!!!!!!
yeeee
Love the keys
Pretty sure that moon isn’t helping right now either. Caught several cuda on the fly rod there. Always wading. Keep up the good work. Like the videos.
Awesome finally
Awesome 👊🏾
Cool exploration vid Steve. I know you love using pvc, but l think a 2x4 T-support would be cheaper and more durable in the heat...in the long run. Tight lines 😎
My Fav Key, U can hook up on some mutton's from Toms Cut Harbor
Love ur vids! Keep up the great content.
Hey Steve
Not sure about exactly where you are. The fall bait run could be the reason for all the bait. 200 miles north of you I have observed what you have. No mullet yet.
Tight lines.
Was waiting for these type of videos
Great!
Love your videos dude!!!!
I am not sure a little jack is exactly a “Good” day but ok😎
i want to see you go out past the reef - where the real action is - try to chum up some tuna or big macks with some pilchers - the easy way to fish - the traffic will ease into fall and winter?
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!
Honest question. Do you think all those pilchards being there have anything to due with the lack of boating and fishing the last 6 months? Maybe there’s more fish now?
Do you saw any public ramp to launch a small 14" aluminum boat around this spot? Thanks you.
Atlantic Snook season starts tomorrow Sept. 1.
I have gone to hawks Kay
FIRST (or maybe third) 😎
Great seeing you back on the water.
hahahaha
Hey man love this video I'm hoping your doing well. I'm fixing to head that way. Won a trip over the radio for vets day. Anyway is there anywhere in that area I can do some land based shark fishing. Got the permit and everything. I do alot it where I live in nc. Any pointers or a good spot for that?
Man... and I was hoping for more reel maintenance.
Great seeing the new stomping grounds for you Steve. I've never been to Florida, you are always having such a good time no matter what you do, I would love it there for sure. Enjoy
Hey Steve... I'm curious what tracking device you use Hope you see this. Thanks. @key West Kayak Fishing. how do you track your trips... I'm fishing a lot of mangroves and area around 10,000 islands... worry about getting lost. thanks.
Wow. A lot of current through the bridge. It looked engine only for sure. Could you paddle through one of the openings closer to shore or was the current that strong all the way to shore?
Hey man I'm headed down there in middle of May, anywhere I can get rent a kayak like yours or maybe we can fish one day??
Call it pilchard island.
first! woot woot. love your vids steve
They are greenies is not pilchards.
Hey Steve i have a 3.3 Mercury motor and a Jackson Big Rig if i fix it up to take a outrigger would you think that motor would be to much .
Yes
Alright! Fishing trip!
Oh, it's like my fishing trips, lot of prep, lot of running around checking out spots...
but no fish😥
I think I would have started a ho house and run it by hand before I moved away from Key West but I guess even Paradise can get boring after a while.
How do you like your cabos so far???
Are you near key coloney?
Do you sell hats? Can't access your store from header.
doesn't appear to be as good as where you were.
