10:09 Hello, my fav rote Glenfarclas release has to simply be the 185. I tried it blind between the 15, 17, 21, 25, 30 and it just embodies a perfection, a magic if you will.
Grateful to have a reliable source of knowledge in this matter. Is Mark Litter available for private enthusiasts in North America? Appreciate to receive information in order to receive proper assistance regarding 🥃. Thanks MK.
Intresting video👍🏻 Met Callum Fraser and he gave me a dram of a 28y family cask from 1992 and it was awesome😋, had also a pleasent time talking to him learning stuff about the distillery i did not know🤗
Brilliant video Mark, great hearing a bit of the story behind some of the bottles and completely agree that a bottle is not just an old liquid but a time capsule from that time. May need to change my mind about opening the bottle of VAT 69 from the 70s...
Tullamore dew. A surprisingly tasty Irish whisky (although blended) and dirt cheap! I’ll probably get some hate for even mentioning this whiskey here but needed to share the love!
This was the advice I was looking for. Need some of that parafilm. I have some Lagavulin Jazz Festival 2022, Offerman (most recent) and Distillers Edition 21 & 22. Are they likely to be good investments?
Would LOVE to try the Tsingdao whiskey. Used to live in China and loved my time visiting the city and brewery. It also has an interesting history. Very curious what that bottle tastes like. Would also love to buy that bottle when it’s empty just as a neat bit of history!
The Farclas question is hard for me. 1. I adore the family casks series, especially the 1993. But I also love the 105. Its soo good, especially for its price.
I'd love to try the Qingdao whisky and the royal marriage one as well, and as a matter of fact, getting any sampler to taste from you would be a pleasure and more importantly, an honor!
Nice vídeo! Great fun! I started drinking Genfarclas because it is the whisky used on The gentlemen, Guy Ritchie movie (the 40 yo which I cannot get on my budget) and got in love ever since - the 12 or the 105 are great value/price and may came in 1L botles. I'm fotunate to buy my drums at a store that also has the largest whisky collection according to the Guiness book of records, and many old botles are losing content even with the parafilm wrapper - ways to try to prevent this on a collection I think would do a great vídeo. Cheers!
Hey - glad you liked the video. I think the 105 is a great whisky too - some people seem to find it at amazing prices too! What is the shop you refer too? It might be the AirCon/Humidity perhaps - we have covered this in a video about how to store whisky.
@@MarkLittler hi! Its in Lisbon, Portugal. If you google "largest whisky collection + Guiness records" you'll find it. At the time was like 10k but now is more than 15k unopened, unduplicated botles. Sadly some are evaporating a lot. Cheers!
Wonderful collection! I'm slowly trying to build mine, and love seeing that some of your bottles are open and that you're actually enjoying the contents! I've never tried any of those older bottlings (or the Glenfarclas) but will definitely keep an eye on your website to see if I can pick up a few. 👍👍👍👍👍
Awsome hearing your thoughts and seeing what you have & hearing about them ,just subscribed, gonna have to check out your shop.it just costed abit last time I ordered from the UK to be sent to Australia but I think it is worth it to have some history in a bottle to either collect and hold for the kids or to enjoy and share with friends.cheers mark keep up the good work
I remember some years ago they were selling the 18 for 98€ and I said that they must be crazy. Now I am so sorry I did not buy it. Would have loved to give it a try and a review. Got the 12 sherry for a great price. Nice selection mate. Macallan has always fascinated me. Definitely interesting is tasting some of these. I’m like a kid in a candy store. Things that we will not see again.
Hey Mark. Thanks for sharing your pieces of whisky history. I’d definitely try the drams of Chinese whisky and Glenfarclas. I’ve only had two bottlings of Glenfarclas (thus far) so I’d have to say the 15YO ltd. Ed. for the Netherlands 2020 😅 Cheaper by the dram must have been before I got into whisky. The concept is great and I’d buy some now. Thanks again.
Ye I’m thinking about the whisky exchange sample set you posted about a while back, as only stuck to islay whisky so good to broaden horizons. Surprised the dram concept didn’t work out.
Hi Allen, thanks for taking the time to comment and I am glad you like the content. Where are you based? We might release some of the CBTD bottles on our store in the not too distant future too so might be a good idea to keep in touch.
Hi Lea - I know the purchase price for the set is steep, but for the opportunity it offers it's very good value in my books. I think the average works out at £8/dram which is a much better way of looking at it! Maybe you can treat yourself for Christmas?
Hi Mark I would like to know of. Your cask offering. Grand idea to have a taste of cask strength whisky. Always looking for secondary markets to buy and sell.
I do indeed - however I will be the first to admit I can't 'describe' what I am drinking - I know what I like, but I can't for the life of me write tasting notes. Good job there are plenty of others out there who can! Thanks for taking the time to comment too - it means a lot.
Please can you you let me know what what the value of Bunnahabhain 50ml single Islay malt Scotch whisky. Glengoyne 50ml with glass single Highland malt scotch whisky. Please can you let me know if they are of any value.
Was in China many, many years ago and that Qingdao bottle cost about £1.50! I was a student then and bought a bottle. It doesn't even taste like a whisky. I remember a sugar sweet, sickly, syrupy, disgusting taste fit only for the drain. Even adding cola couldn't disguise the awfulness. It is definitely not a Kavalan. It would be a really terrible crime to give out drams of that. Keep it as an unopened novelty bottle. I also tried the local maotai which was incredibly expensive yet I couldn't swallow that stuff either. It reminded me of syphoning petrol from my dad's car. Anyway, please keep that Qingdao away from human consumption.
Yeah don’t drink your investment ,, I had a private cask 25 year old Arran one of the earliest casks the distillery used , ,, for investment, but I drank it 😂 couldn’t help myself
I have moved away from scotch whisky as the hype surrounding is too much. I wonder if you are a proper whisky drinker or just a collector. I have moved to rum as it offers value for money.
Hey Andrew - let me do a video of my open bottles and I will let you judge :) Also, my my go to is often a bourbon rather than Scotch. It might just be a phase but that's where I am right now.
Love the chat Mark - your love and appreciation for the products shines through.
Favorite glenfarclas is the 105 22 year old since I had it at a whiskey festival and it cut through the competition. immediately looked for a bottle

Excellent and entertaining video Mark. Agree with the time capsule analogy.
Glad you enjoyed it - I hope you have a nice weekend too :)

Oh wow! That sounds amazing. Right place right time!
Glenfarclas 1978 Family Cask is my absolute favourite Glenfarclas, the neutral cask allows the spirit to shine.
I'd love a dram of the Chinese whiskey - it sounds intriguing.

Glad you enjoyed it! Deffinately get the old malts opened too - they are amazing bottles!
@@MarkLittler Great insight. Would a single cask release of 200 ish bottles which is bottled for a private bar/restaurant be seen as a collectable?

Yes - I had an old Tullimore Dew a while ago and it was graet. I think some of the best whiskies I have had have been blends tbf.
Glenfarclas 40 years old very special for me. Til now The oledest whisky of years i drink in a whisky event.

Great video and great whisky! My favorite Glenfarclas is the 17. It was the last whisky I shared with my grandmother
Oh wow - that really must have been a special whisky - it's good to have such a nice memory associated with a dram too.
Some weird and wonderful stuff on those shelves, that's for sure!
Hey - any that you want to try for your channel? Let me know and I will post it out - you can review, then return :) CREATORS UNITE!
