While I agree with you that the excuse given for the delay in letting TCJ go is weak, the fundamental difference between Iswaran and TCJ is that Iswaran is under investigation for a criminal act while adultery is (unfortunately) not a crime in Singapore. Considering that a minister wields significant power, any delay in cutting off Iswaran's access to official resources may hinder the investigations, making his case more time-sensitive than TCJ's.
