PM Lee knew about the affair since GE2020. Yet, he did not disclose to this to Parliament notwithstanding that Tan Chuan Jin, as Speaker of Parliament, was to be impartial and there would therefore be in a position of conflict. In a similar vein, Pritam was censured for not disclosing Raeesah's lies to Parliament. Is PM Lee going to be held to the same standard?
Frankly no because this is not an apple to apple situation. Raeesah does not have the level of accoutability nor access to any important and confidential state secrets as a Speaker of the Parliament. Thus, the process and investigation is needed to be handled at a much higher level. You do know that the CPIB is extremely busy this week. I live in the area, they are burning the midnight oil. Whoever you are, you obviously do not understand Singapore.
don't twist the facts. PS ask his member to take it to the grave regarding lying to the public. LHL give his members a chance to settle and part on good terms, but TCJ himself decide it's best to resign.
the issues are quite different. Raesha maligned the police force vs affairs doesnt affect work. Not sure what kind of preferential treatment Cheng received from the Speaker of P, 2 extra minutes to speak???
Running a country is not the easiest of commitments. Apparently & without exception, supposed good & quality people will let the team down. This has been a difficult period. I wish PM Lee good health and vitality to meet the challenges head on. Majulah Singapura!
No lack of talent in Singapore any MP or Minister found of any wrong doing should be sacked immediately same goes for opposition party. Would actually prefer to see Lawrence Wong handling all the recent scandals and addressing the Nation and reporters rather than PM Lee. Its a good opportunity for the incoming PM to show what he can do and its time for PM Lee to take a break after 20 long Years.
Grateful for our PM. He is still marching on and cleaning these messes up. I’m no expert but I do think we need to seriously reconsider how we are grooming and promoting the next generation of leaders. We must always look for character first, and be careful that we don’t put people on too high a pedestal. They are all human, and to be in power and not consumed is not easy. Do they have enough time to form beneficial friendships with shared ideals? Or is work unending and soul-sapping.. Do they have what they need to thrive? Do they have a proven track record of high integrity in all their dealings prior to politics? Of course these mistakes are inexcusable, so I don’t turn my mind to these questions as a way of excusing the behaviour we have seen. I am glad that the PAP has moral standards, unlike some other western democracies. I, like many fellow Singaporeans, am disappointed and somewhat concerned. People are vulnerable and we must do something to ensure the future of Singapore, since our future depends on good government. Without the solid foundation of character, support from family, and deep friendships with like-minded others sharing a deep love for this nation even the most capable individuals can crumble. I think those were things our late PM Mr Lee Kwan Yew had that allowed him to stay grounded and to execute the many ideas from his brilliant mind. He worked as a team with his wife, his intellectual equal, and a great helper to him, sharing a passion for our nation. Together they weathered many storms and with great discernment built a strong team to lead Singapore from third world to first. Majula Singapura 🇸🇬
i hope pm sir u will stay as long as posabile i feel singapore will faill without u as our leader u are just like MR LKY RIGHT MEANS RIGHT WRONG MEANS WRONG HEAD OF TO YOU SIR 🙏
The timing of when the affair was discoverered and when the resignation actually took place is where I have an issue with. While the PM gave the reason that partly it had to do with making sure Tan's responsibilities had proper coverage, he could still have officially stepped down earlier while others took over. The sequence of events makes me skeptical of this version of the narrative.
PM managed these issues well. Things wont stop going wrong (how is that even possible to have a party of this size that has no problems. My own family keeps having problems) but the test is how they are handled. I don't have the same faith in LW though...
PM Lee...appreciate your efforts to get rid of all the rottened apples...its inevitable that setbacks will happen in every country government system...nevertheless the Singapore ship will continue to sail smoothly with you and Lawrence Wong navigating her...Amen
😂Sir and I think the Honourable Mr Tan past PAP was likely to be next Pm and I think Singaporeans like his leadership and there was quite time gap absent from .. And next election pls what advice Sir Our Next PM and I vote PAP because the Past Mentor DNA Exist Sir Jlimsin
You got a small in-house problem. Deal with it. Move on. There are other critical matters to deal with. Like the rising power of PAS in Malaysia and recent extreme racist rhetoric by Mahathir against his own Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian indian fellow citizens. If PAS takes power in future and Malaysia becomes ultra extreme islamic, it has impact on Singapore. Even the Sultans are not safe. Look at how religious cleric Ayatollah Khomeni deposed Shah of Iran.
Malaysian politicians watch how Singapore PM conduct his business of leadership. Absolute integrity and transparency which is a high benchmark other countries must emulate including my country Malaysia
The question is, why news of the PAP affair and WP affair came out on the exact same day? How can it be so coincidental? Espionage/ power struggle between the two parties?
I have doubts, questions and a suggestion. For 2-3 years, we know the Speaker and a MP was having an affair but life went on in the parliament? Not convinced why we waited so long to act and why different treatments for different Speakers, notwithstanding the sensitivities and different circumstances. Also, had there been no affair, would the Speaker still be asked to resign had it solely been a case of “unparliamentary conduct”? In other countries, how is a Speaker removed? By their PM, or should there be some parliamentary process? How is a Speaker going to be neutral if he can be removed by the PM? Perhaps it is a good opportunity to look into appointing non-partisan Speaker, similarly required of our Presidency. The electorate will certainly prefer that to the current practice.
I agree. Also, someone really needs to look into his speech. Firstly, a clear line needs to be drawn. Words like “friend, comrade” should not be used. It gives the impression that he puts his generals before his country. Secondly, when the scandal was discovered, why wasn’t there a resignation back then and why was the handover process so long? Lastly, what kind of “friend” or “comrade” when told in Feb to end the relationship still continue to do so?
A good reminder PM Lee, never let the system go corrupt. As the PM wisely pointed out human frailties can interfere not only with work but family, friends and fraternity. Thank you Prime Minister for showing the way forward.
Why no COI on leader of the party. Obviously someone from his party was having an inappropriate relationship with speaker of the house , which affects the parliamentary sessions. We need to evaluate his SOP.
Well, our PM is also human and does have some humanity, giving them time to think over, and put things right, he can't micro-manage or even go further, these are personal matters, but sad to say that has not adhered to, so PM has to decide and decided. PM of cause much disappointed on all the high profile involvement, he would have given a stern warning and ropes either they use it for good purposes or hang themselves.
I'm no supporter of any 'ownself check' political party... but this time round the PM has displayed a high competence of professional discipline in dealing with PAP internal earthquakes recently. Well done PM.
In China this kind of thing happens everyday for lots of appointment holders, nothing would happen to them. Only the people who raise the issue will be dealt with.
To be fair, hundreds of thousands of corrupted ones in China have been dealt with. The rotten apples amongst PLA top brass were the most serious ones and they were duly cleared out. You cannot imagine the tremendous effort made to put things right.
Its good that PM is openly sharing his views and taking responsibility for maintaining PAP's reputation and integrity. Its true that no system is infallible but as long as they accept it and move on to improve it , that shows a great maturity of his leadership.
The constitution allows a person who is not elected as a Member of Parliament to be appointed as a speaker of parliament. It’s time we create history and appoint someone partisan to lead parliamentary proceedings. Otherwise why have such a rule of law, but it’s not being invoked.
What irony, just imagine if others in nearby countries will follow this high standards, but I guess education strong morals, principle comes to play, maybe that is why they are first world country,
There's no anger from him, only disappointment. He must be damn tired of his party people not behaving.
We hope people of capability, character and integrity will still come forward to serve Singapore.
PM Lee knew about the affair since GE2020. Yet, he did not disclose to this to Parliament notwithstanding that Tan Chuan Jin, as Speaker of Parliament, was to be impartial and there would therefore be in a position of conflict.

For once I feel that PM Lee should stay on as long as possible.
Totally agree
Feel very sad for our PM. So much he has to deal wirh. May God bless him with good health make it easy for him. ❤
With all due #Respect, #thankyou And #congratulations PMO For Sharing This Video With Us All Here. #Yes #indeed.
Please look around us, can someone enlighten me that has any country done better than us? I still have full confidence in our government!
Where can I find these jackets PM Loong wears?
PM Lee well done. This is of paramount importance to a good government. There is no other better choice.
Pls take care sir
Running a country is not the easiest of commitments.
Apparently & without exception, supposed good & quality people will let the team down.
This has been a difficult period.
I wish PM Lee good health and vitality to meet the challenges head on.
Majulah Singapura!
1. It is not a good news but PM Lee has again firmly upheld PAP very high standards of the parliament and party conduct.
2. Big THANK YOU to PM Lee...
Very good and high standard of Singapore 🇸🇬 political integrity.
What i wouldnt give to have such calibre of Prime Minister, MPs and Parliament in Malaysia. At the moment, all we have is a circus.
Appreciated answer all of U❤

Never play with fire and do not expect to perfectly stay safe.

Keep the system clean.
Grateful for our PM. He is still marching on and cleaning these messes up.

Very good words.
I am shocked .
So Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and MP Cheng Li Hui were asked to go.
I am dumbfounded and floored.
Never let the system go corrupt. Totally agree. Uphold the standards. LKY foresight ❤
No perfect system. Pls Keep it clean.
i hope pm sir u will stay as long as posabile i feel singapore will faill without u as our leader u are just like MR LKY RIGHT MEANS RIGHT WRONG MEANS WRONG HEAD OF TO YOU SIR 🙏
If there is abuse of power in the affair then resignation is not enough.
Jiayou PM Lee 💜

The high standard of government is very dependable on good conduct and discipline of politicians.

Alamak
So the hot mic incident is because Tan Chuan-Jin knows he is going anyway, so he anyhow speaks in Parliament liao.
NEVER THE SYSTEM GO CORRUPT - LKY

Pritam Singh for PM. Sorry PM LHL ur getting old let new younger and stronger candidate takes over. It’s about time
U THINK THAT PRITAM SINGH CAN BE PM FAT HOPE YOU THINK IT IS A PLAYING MATTER TO RUN A CONTURY
What if most of us Singaporeans don't want WP "fxxking populist" policies?
You got a small in-house problem. Deal with it. Move on. There are other critical matters to deal with. PM Lee is doing the right thing! Truly a great leader.
Scandalous!
Malaysian politicians watch how Singapore PM conduct his business of leadership. Absolute integrity and transparency which is a high benchmark other countries must emulate including my country Malaysia
wonder who is the whistle blower - interesting
The question is, why news of the PAP affair and WP affair came out on the exact same day? How can it be so coincidental? Espionage/ power struggle between the two parties?
Vivian, Shan, Isawaran, Cheng Lihui, and Tan Chuan-Jin. In matter of few months, extremely disappointed in PAP.
Even WP’s scandalous incident between Leon Perera and Nicole Seah…
Naughty naughty.
Please take care of your health PM lee. Sorry you have to deal with this kind of crap that's related to a person's integrity and behavioural issues.
They are human after all .
This is why people should stop going after unavailable men it's gross😮💨
PM Lee Hsien Loong is certainly not a nonsensical leader and politician. He has set an extremely high standard for politician to uphold.
ONLY PAP CAN RULE SINGAPORE NO OTHERS CAN

He should be kicked out of SNOC also, immediately.

It’s over.
Mr Lee, promise us that you will do whatever is best for everyone. Even in such a watershed moment.
Some may see the incident as a personal matter. To this government, it's impropriety. Its reputation rests on the way it's being handled.
The way the PAP handled these cases is commendable. We hope the opposition have the same standard.
PM Lee, pls stay longer and make sure all the 4G ministers are really ready...
Semoga mr lee sehat selalu panjang umur.
Thanks you to taking care Singapore ❤appreciated 🎉

Singapore will recover from this. We always have as One People, One Nation.
Just imagine. If it was the other side what would have happened.
Who is next? Better dig out
