Zodiac was the movie that made me realize how much I like investigative journalism films. I could never really find a movie that gets me hooked like this movie did, although Spotlight was pretty damn good too. I'll go ahead and watch All The President's Men and hope that it has the same vibe as Zodiac. Thanks for the recommendation!

Panic Room is an underrated classic. I’ve always loved that movie.
My favorite part is when they almost frame Roger Rabbit as the Zodiac 😂 (the guy with the basement is the voice actor of RR)

Finchers best was zodiac, his second best - the girl with the dragon tattoo. The Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross soundtrack sealed it.

First time I watch this was at 1 am in my gfs bedroom on my phone. I was hooked and stayed up way to late but that’s a testament to how good this movie is.

You are correct that there was something off about Arthur Leigh Allen. He had received a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1958 and had been fired from his job as an elementary school teacher in March 1968 after allegations of sexual misconduct with students. He was convicted of sexually assaulting a 12 year old boy in 1974.
He stood out amongst the suspects identified in this case. But standing out and proving his guilt in a court of law were 2 different things.

I remember when I first started watching Zodiac I only got into it for 5 min but I was sleepy so I decided to watch the rest the next day. And at the time little did I know that it left Netflix... Can never trust netflix. Still need to watch the entire film, hearing this got me excited for it again.

This is a great film and it is not because I live in the Bay area or because those years I was becoming conscious ( albeit stoned) of the world . This film is great primarily because it is directly derived from a well researched and thought out excellent book. Films depicting real life or derived from books are almost always better than those just screen written.
Compared to subsequent serial and mass killings the Zodiac was small potatoes. However the the real time interaction of the killer with other stakeholders added a dimension in real life as well as the film. Zodiac, like Jack the Ripper seemed to perceive this as a game.
This film set Jake G on his career and gave most of the nation a look at the City without featuring homosexuals or hippies. If one has spent their life in the Bay area in all likelihood they have no idea what life is like in the Northeast and vice versa.
Despite the DNA discrepancy I still think Arthur Leigh Allen was Zodiac ... too much circumstantial evidence.

I had never seen a stabbing look so realistic before this movie. Horrifying.
