Started last year to make something with old CD's. Got them spray painted and never finished. This is perfect as I just started doing mandala's this year. Absolutely beautiful !! Thank you so much.
Loved this. I just tried it and it came out really pretty, Thanks for the tutorial! Also, since I am just starting out learning how to do Dot Mandalas, I thought I would mention for my fellow newbies, who, like myself, still need guide lines; that since the CD is clear, you can draw guide lines on a piece of paper and stick it to the back of the CD with couple small pieces of double sided tape. It really helped me keep everything straight.
Lydia, Pablo is so Adorable ! I melted when I first saw him. you just want to squeeze his little tiny cheeks ! hahaha Loved the sun catcher. your personality shines through in a very colorful way. Love it. thank you for all you do for us, the viewers. Still watching for more. :) :)
Wow! Great idea to do the dots on a clear CD, I didn't think of that, it looks amazing especially with the metallic paint. I did one last year on a black background and am going to try on the reflective CD, as I think that would have a nice effect too. Thank you so much for the knot, as I lost all my beads due to the knot slipping, fortunately, they were only plastic beads so no great loss, I am definitely going to use that knot. Well done and thanks for sharing and yes I would love to see what else you come up with, when dotting CD's.
I just got my dotting tools and paint today! I don't have any stencils so I will have to eyeball it. I have the cd's and going to give it a try. Love your tutorials! So easy to follow!
Lydia May! So glad to see you and your new tutorial. I love this idea, and thanks for showing all the different techniques of applying paint and drilling holes, etc.!
Great! Another idea. My husband is already telling people, “Don’t stand still or she will paint dots all over you.” Lol. So addicted. And, I did buy your wooden tool set and I love working with the wood much more than the acrylic tools. I would recommend others to get a set if they don’t already have. I am finding an album of my friends and family members favorite artist/s and making clocks with dot colors to match the label for Xmas gifts. Already getting the clock fixtures at Michal’s with 40 to 50 % off coupons. Thanks for sharing all of your tips.
You're awesome! I literally LOL'd at your husbands comment! Hilarious because it's SO TRUE! I have shirts that say "I'd dot that" because nothing is off limits. Thank you so much for your comment. I love that you love the tools. 🙌😙💕
Love your pup! I just found some old cd's while cleaning out storage boxes and this would be perfect for me to practice on. Thanks for sharing your tutorial, Lydia. Love those metallic paints too! Hugs,Judy
Lidia, I am a retired artist (does an artist ever retire) and until I discovered you would never have enjoyed the fun I'm having in my 80's- I love your tutorials all of them--especially the silhouette- I dotted one of my great-grandaughter and it came out nice-yours is so much lovelier --Thank you for lighting the fire under me--love all of the gifts-you decide-if you select me as a winner--also Congratulations!
It's soooo pretty! I totally wanna try something like this =) I was watching another video and it mentioned that CDs have one layer, and DVDs have two layers that can be separated. So to do this with a DVD maybe try separating the layers first (video I'm referring to is called "DIY Room Decor / CD wall art ideas / Easy recycled project" and in it, they boil the DVDs in water to help separate the layers)
Coloca un papel o plastico unicolor debajo de CD para poder apreciar los disenos que estas haciendo con el taladro. Gracias germoso teabajo. Bendiciones Tata desde Gainesville Fl.
I just love the what not to do. Thank you 🙏. I jump head first into project all the time and improvise all the time. I would have gone straight for the acetone if you hadn’t showed me what it does.
If you are concerned about cracking the CD when drilling, put a bit of masking tape where you want to drill and drill on the surface of a scrap piece of wood. The wood will support the CD so that it doesn't flex and the tape peels off easily when you are done.
I have some, but they are beautiful as they are, no writing, cds, old so I’m hoping they work. In quarantine so was just thrilled to find your video with materials I already have. Thanks.
Ahhh, now this looks like it would be great for me to start my dotting journey on❣️ Beautiful yet fairly simple❣️ Thank you for the detailed tutorial 💜💙💜
ooooo this looks like fun. I wonder how clear gesso would work on it. When I do this with the kids this summer, I'll do an update and let you know how that works. Thanks for sharing Luv!!
The excess paint kind of "domes" creating a 3D texture to the dots. strikingly beautiful! I find the symmetry very pleasing. I really want to try this, but I mangle anything art related.

Hi Lydia !
Nice job ! Beautiful mandalas !
Hmm. I just might try it ?
Thanks for the inspiration!
Greetings from New York! 🌹
Very nice. It was easier to see when you had it on the white paper rather than the patterned wood desk.
This turned out so beautiful!!
Thank you!

Will the paint adhere okay to a shiny surface
