Hi Lydia I am watching your videos 3 years now and always learning something new ! Thank you for your beautiful tutorials . Have a question: I don’t have those coloured tools. Can you tell me the sizes of the different colours? Then I could use the proper sizes of my bamboo tools . Would help me a lot . Thank you very much 😊
Fantastic! I have a stack of unused recordable CDs and have been planning to do something arty for my garden. Brilliant idea. Can I I ask: is it essential you remove the CD coating beforehand? Also, do you need to use a spray paint or can you simply paint black acrylic on first? How do you protect/weather proof them? Thanks - sorry for all the questions!
Love the colors you chose and also the little "swoops" in the design. I am always looking for alternative "painting surfaces" so this definitely is in that category. Thanks!
Hi Lydia, WOW I love this one you clever lady and am so missing my dotting and my dotty friends but life has taken me on a different path for a while, I have been checking in on the group but no time to post at mo. Hope to be back soon and will definitely use this tutorial as my first project. You are a superstar. Say Hi to Pablo for me. 💖
Precioso!!!! Gracias
Hi! I love this. thanks for sharing. Just a quick question regarding spraying the CD. How do you get such a good finish with the spray paint on both sides. I sprayed it on one side and let it dry for a few days before spraying the other side. So when i prayed the other side on cardboard and left it to dry for 24 hours and i just checked to see how it turned out and found the cardboard stuck on to the the first side as the spray paint must have seeped under it. when i peeled it off the cardboard the paint was slightly damaged on the edges. so i then put the CD on a small piece of wood to raise it off the surface and sprayed it again. this time the paint has created small lumps on the dry side now. sorry for the rambling but i hope this makes sense and hope you can help with some tips. thanks so much. :-)
This is probably a dumb question but are acrylic paints safe to use with the matte chalkboard spray paint for this project? I absolutely love how these turned out and I plan on making these for my friends and family except I'm going to leave the other side blank and let them write messages to loved ones who have passed and hang them in their trees. I don't know may sound corny but for around the holidays and for 2021 it may give us a fresh start for 2021. 2020 was a tough year and maybe this would give them hope every time they looked out their window and saw them hanging in the trees with messages to their loved ones who had passed. Do you have any advice from my project? I'm going to be doing it in multiple colors!
Hi Lydia, please help me I'm new to dot painting. I bought a lot of tools and haven't started painting yet. I want to know the wooden rods how do I determine the size, do I measure when it is dry (un used) or do I measure the dot it made once paited?
I LOVE your tutorials!! I had never heard of dot painting until I stumbled across one of your videos and now I’m a member on your Facebook group and have painted four rocks and can’t wait to do more! In this video you showed wiping off a dot that wasn’t the way you wanted, I’m assuming the dot next to it was dry which made me want to ask do you let each row dry before doing the next one? I get so excited when I start painting that I keep going until I’m finished, but when I made mistakes, it was sometimes a challenge to clean it off without messing up a previous spot. I think I need to work on patience and let each step dry before doing the next, but wasn’t sure if that’s what most people do. Thanks for taking the time to share your beautiful work and valuable tips! I take care of my ex mother in law who is 84 and when she saw my rocks she loved them so my next project is to paint some for her to decorate outside her front door. That will give me great pleasure and I thank you, again, for touching lives you might not even know you’ve touched!
Aww! Thank you so much! No, the other dots were still wet, you just have to be super careful when removing a dot next to a dot. It can be tricky but I guess I've had so much practice that it isn't so bad for me now. You COULD let your dots dry but that usually isn't necessary. It is important, however, to take your time and not rush. It's really so much more about the experience and de-stressing and having your mind free from all other thoughts. So, enjoy the process. I'll be looking in the group for your posts! XOXOXO
If you catch my last tutorial, I show how to hang beads on the bottom but I skipped that part on this one. It would look great with or without beads! Here is that video: ruclips.net/video/a6fEB7BchV8/видео.html
These are so much fun. I was thinking you could have three CDs in a line maybe with the same pattern in different color schemes and beads between and on the bottom. I'm supposed to be studying, but all I want to do is dot now!
Hi, I am a relatively new viewer and have been catching up on your past videos... I am looking to do a design on a glass bottle that I’ve turned into a wind chime. Could you give me some ideas about how to make template markings on glass. ♥️♥️
You can draw the design on paper and tape it to the opposite side of the glass and trace it with dry erase marker. I plan to cover this in a tutorial soon. 👍
Lydia May I can’t wait to see it!! Thank you for the tips. FYI some of the wine bottles are green or amber, I hope you will cover those obstacles as well♥️♥️
Great Tutorial. Thank you for doing another one. These are my favorite. I am going to definitely going to do this. Have a great day. Just wondering.... have you ever tried to do a clock? Im trying to do one and can't find a good tutorial for the dimensions and you are such a good teacher? Just a thought. ;-)
I followed this tutorial step by step. It definitely didn’t turn out like yours. 😤😭 The thing I was having the most trouble with was the swooping lines. Do you have a tutorial showing how to make those type of lines? I even practiced on a spare piece of paper and I wasn’t sure how to do them correctly. Please help!
No, you're right, I didn't show that part. So, after I cleaned off any guidelines, I just sprayed it with a gloss lacquer spray. You could also use a brush on varnish, or resin. That part is just a personal preference.
Very disappointed, I bought your book and tried placing an order for several tools and other supplies and wasn’t able to because you don’t have shipping to Alaska.
@@LydiaMay all I know is that Alaska was not a choice for the states and Alaska isn’t international it is USA. But a lot of companies don’t ship to Alaska and Hawaii.
@@ThePrincesslolipop Hmmm. Well, others are finding it. Sorry, I'm not sure how to help without seeing your screen. Feel free to email us at dottymandolly@gmail.com for further assistance. 🎨💕

Did I miss it. Do you end with a sealant to the CD art work?
