So Fatboy Slim is British DJ Norman Cook who holds the Guinness Record for most Number 1 singles under the most different names. You've actually reacted to him before as a member of British 80's act The Housemartins. He also remixes a lot of other peoples songs and turns what were obscure or otherwise average songs into Number One singles. Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook) is a British DJ. He released this song in 1998. The main looped vocal, "Right about now, the funk soul brother / Check it out now, the funk soul brother", is rapper Lord Finesse taken from the introduction of the Vinyl Dogs track "Vinyl Dogs Vibe".
Other songs of his already mentioned in the comments include "Praise You", "Right Here, Right Now", and "Weapon of Choice".

It's a teenage "Pulp Fiction" vibe drama/comedy - if that makes sense - great soundtrack that truly captured the late 90's Rave & Club scene pretty well - it's a trip!! Makes me miss my teenage years so much!! Lastly, consider ROMEO + JULIET with Leo DiCaprio - another iconic 90s flick with an insane soundtrack that you both will like!! Love ya - keep smiling!!

If you'd like to hear the progression, check out (in release order) "Fire" (1992), "Out of Space" (1992), "No Good (Start the Dance)" (1994), "Voodoo People" (1994), "Poison" (1995), "Firestarter" (1996) (total style change) (Most popular song), "Breathe" (1996), "Baby's Got a Temper" (2002), "Spitfire", (2005) (return to older style), "Invaders Must Die" (2008), and "Omen" (2009) .

I like almost every song Fatboy Slim created for about a decade straight. It's a lot of dance music, experimental, unique - suits me like a well fitting glove.

This song was everywhere in 99-2000. Heavily used in movies. Bought this CD when it came out. Some bangers on it. So many samples.

Featured prominently in the 1999 film She's All That where Usher plays the high school DJ. Such an amazing song!

The best place to start Fatboy Slim is "Weapon of Choice" followed by "Praise You"!

This song riff comes from an old funk soul brother duo called Just Brothers - Sliced Tomatoes. So the lyrics "funk soul brother" is referring to that group and the song theyre sampling. Fatboy is from UK if Im not mistaken, Im assuming Just Brothers would have likely been played during the 'Northern Soul' era that swept the UK which led to Fatboy being exposed to and inspired by them.

I KNEW you'd love this song!!!! Now you have to listen to "Praise You" and "Weapon of Choice."
Fatboy Slim was popular in the U.K. in the '90s, but he didn't have a hit in the U.S. until late 1999 or 2000. That hit was "Praise You."
