In my opinion, this is the best scene from DBZ Kakarot and the best adapted one as well. It looks incredible, is extremely hype, and the reveal of ssj goku in such a way is just top-notch. Sure, there are other cutscenes that may look better at parts, like Vegito v Buu, Vegeta's Rage, or Goku's Kamehameha vs Vegeta's Gallick Gun, but this one just perfectly encapsulates the feel of the original moment in the anime in the best way possible
@@Ilyapa TL;DR: I think you should watch the show first, but you definitely can play it with minimal prior experience and still enjoy it. I would suggest watching DBZ first as there are some minor story beats and a few somewhat irrelevant but good arcs that are left out of the game (and vice versa, but to a lesser extent), but overall I would say that DBZ Kakarot wouldn be a pretty good way to experience the world of Dragon Ball for your first time. I would still suggest watching the show first though, and if you need it I can provide a link to a website with every episode for free. If you do play before watching, the game is set up in a way that assumes you already have some prior knowledge of dbz (which in turn assumes youve seen the original Dragon Ball) so dont be surprised if theres a few things you dont understand, especially early game - for instance, i dont think the game actually explains who Piccolo really is until nearly a dozen hours into the game, and even then its a brief summary. It also makes occasional references to Dragon Ball in the form of cutscenes and collectibles, so you can end up with a basic idea of the original dragon ball if you explore enough. Finally, a few tips: 1) it is statistically a terrible idea to try and grind xp. If you try and fight enemies to level up, it is quite literally a waste of time. 2) there are quitea few things the game doesnt really tell you, so dont be afraid to look up guides on how the combat works; for instance, i didnt realize until 30 hours in that you can press different buttons in the middle of a combo to initiate different combo finishers, or that the burst attack only uses a few ki but the vanish always uses half a bar. 3) dont expect to come across the in-game currency - zenni - very often. Its more of a commodity that gets handed out very infrequently. If you ever collect the dragon balls outside of a quest, use it to wish for money. Its basically the only opportunity you get.

He'll be apart of Goku, apart of his legacy... and apart of the many villain's hes either killed, or got to change. 4:37 , "I am the greatest being in the universe... and that is why... you... YOU MUST!! YOU MUST DIE BY HAND!!!" "I'm hanging on to the other side! "YOU FOOL!" "W-WHA- WHHAT?!" "I wont give up to the end of me! I'm what you get when the stars collide! (Stars collide!) Now face it, you're just an enemy!" Goku beat Lord Freeza... and its finished. *DESTRUCTIVE FINISH!*
5:10 I adore both the synch with the song hitting its calmer outro with this moment, and the fact that the animators for this scene went with the Manga's interpretation of it where he feels absolutely zero catharsis, joy, or even anger in what he's doing. He loves seeing how strong he and those around him have become, but not when it means using that power to take a life. He and Gohan are a lot more alike than most give them credit for. And it feeds back into the lyrics going quiet as a somber reminder that this isn't even the first time he's had to do something like this, and he knows the only way these tales of blind ambition and pride can end is in a reckless disregard for life.
*SSJ Goku and Frieza first hand clash* "IT'S TIME TO FACE. YOUR. FEARS!" Perfect timing for that. Won't lie, though I half expected this to be a gameplay video with epic timing for it. This work sway better like this though.
The fact that it works for both of them is such a fucking cool coincidence. Frieza is facing his biggest fear of fighting the one being he KNOWS won't hesitate to kill him, and let it consume him. Goku is facing his fear of becoming a bloodthirsty monster that discards the idea of restraint for the thrill of a fight, but has learned enough discipline through the years to control and focus his anger.
Damn, this is just perfect. Songs says "yeah" Goku yells and transforms. "It's time to face your fear" and Goku attacks. "Cause I am undefeatable" and Goku finishes his speech powering up. Frieza is defeated and the song gets calm. Just perfect.
Songs that "go with everything" realy help bring the source material into mainstream as everyone wonders where it's from. Even if everyone donesn't play it they know of it which helps a lot.

it's fitting that Undefeatable goes with this fight since it's the first major life or death battle that relegates Goku Vs. Vegeta round 1 in the Saiyan Sage and Goku vs. Vegeta Round 2 in the Majin Buu Saga to being equal to the Guardian fights in Sonic Frontiers. for Find Your Flame I would choose Gohan Vs. Perfect Cell since he finally started tapping into his true potential in that fight. and Goku vs. Majin Buu could be Break Through it All while Goku vs Beerus or Goku vs. Jiren or even Goku vs. Broly could be I'm Here with two of the fights being Vandalize and One Way Dream.

I adore both the synch with the song hitting its calmer outro with this moment, and the fact that the animators for this scene went with the Manga's interpretation of it where he feels absolutely zero catharsis, joy, or even anger in what he's doing.
He loves seeing how strong he and those around him have become, but not when it means using that power to take a life. He and Gohan are a lot more alike than most give them credit for.
And it feeds back into the lyrics going quiet as a somber reminder that this isn't even the first time he's had to do something like this, and he knows the only way these tales of blind ambition and pride can end is in a reckless disregard for life.
Not only that but the fact he failed to save namek, that frieza was able to destabilize the core to make it explode

Frieza is facing his biggest fear of fighting the one being he KNOWS won't hesitate to kill him, and let it consume him.
Goku is facing his fear of becoming a bloodthirsty monster that discards the idea of restraint for the thrill of a fight, but has learned enough discipline through the years to control and focus his anger.

it's fitting that Undefeatable goes with this fight since it's the first major life or death battle that relegates Goku Vs. Vegeta round 1 in the Saiyan Sage and Goku vs. Vegeta Round 2 in the Majin Buu Saga to being equal to the Guardian fights in Sonic Frontiers. for Find Your Flame I would choose Gohan Vs. Perfect Cell since he finally started tapping into his true potential in that fight. and Goku vs. Majin Buu could be Break Through it All while Goku vs Beerus or Goku vs. Jiren or even Goku vs. Broly could be I'm Here with two of the fights being Vandalize and One Way Dream.

The way Goku tells frieza to get down even after all hes done really shows Gokus compassion for even his most hate filled enemies.
