Simple DIY sphere making tool for the wood lathe - metalworking

- Опубликовано: 10 фев 2025
- In this project I used various scrap metal parts I had in the shop to make a simple jig for making spheres on the lathe. I have made a similar jig out of wood in the past. But by using metal I was able to make the tool more simple, more efficient and less bulky.
Tools and materials I propose:
Stick welder: amzn.to/2JdljLs
Drill press: amzn.to/2pJaAPo
Cobalt Drill Bit Set : amzn.to/3kjMsgl
Tap and die set: amzn.to/352MpAH
Bench Grinder: amzn.to/3s0EqOh
Angle grinder: amzn.to/2E6uLAx
Metal cutting discs: amzn.to/2Wzcn85
Lathe: amzn.to/2yq4bMI
Carbide Burr Set: amzn.to/3oq2BDz
Wood turning tools set: amzn.to/2pH5K59
Foredom Woodcarving Kit: amzn.to/34cTkXf

Nice job. We posted this video on our homemade tools forum this week :)
Thank you very very much
Δεν το λες και απλό έχει κάποια διαδικασία για να γίνει !!!! Πολύ χρήσιμο !!!!!
Έχει πράγματι
I wonder if it's possible to make this system from wood, maybe using epoxy instead of welding?
Έχω κάνει αντίστοιχη κατασκευή με ξύλο. Υπάρχει και video. Αλλά γίνεται πολύ πιο ογκόδες και χάνεις και ωφέλιμη ακτίνα κοπής.
@@ScrapwoodCity I can't copy this comment to translate, sorry
he has an older video of one made out of wood

καλημέρα
Awesome tool!
Αδερφε, τα σπας!
Παρεπιπτοντως, ψαχνω για ενα toolrest για τον διδυμο τροχο, σαν το δικο σου, αλλα δεν εχω ιδεα πού μπορω να βρω. Μηπως μπορεις να με κατευθυνεις;
Ευχαριστώ. Το tool rest είναι της Veritas και το πήρα από την Axminster
@@ScrapwoodCity Ευχαριστω!
Don't take this wrong. If you learn to use a skew, this kind of work only takes a minute. It leaves a beautiful finish, cutting not scraping. Sometimes the old way is the best way.
I agree but this tool is all about getting a perfect Spherical shape. Not about smooth finish
So.... where was the sphere??? I only saw about 2/3rds of a sphere.
Shame on you you could have put something on that old chair
