My brother was visiting the tenant of the building - I believe apartment number 13C - and was found laying down on the sofa. My sister received a call from the hospital later that evening informing her that he passed away at 11pm due to smoke inhalation, and that he suffered superficial burns. We were also told by the hospital that there was another victim - I believe a female that may have been the tenant - who was found in the bedroom, where the fire started. My 2 sisters and I are devastated - our brother was warm, loving and adored by everyone who knew him. It is nearly 2 months following the incident and my sisters and I are still awaiting information from the NYFD - we don’t know who he was visiting, how the fire started or whether or not the fire alarm in the apartment was functioning.
If anyone has any information to help my sisters and I understand what happened the evening of the fire it would be extremely appreciated.

Sir i am from middletown living in Springfield mo. Also a former fire capt.my question is on a fire like this do they evac the entire building and after its over is the building condemed? Do these apartment buildings have fire walls and concrete floors? Thanks
