    Not all of those islands are filled with hotels & apartments.
    Some of them are abandoned vanity projects surrounded by stagnant, mosquito filled waters.

      Any water is stagnant when it sits. They had this issue when they built the first palm beach thing. Dubai is better off avoided anyway. Horrible rulers and laws.

      @@AnimilesYTDubai have only 5 billion barrels of oil which is nothing in comparison to other middle eastern countries such as saudi arabia which has around 250 billion barrels of oil reserves. Oil exports make around 1 to 2% of their gdp. Theirs main money makers are ship building, ports, tourism and financial services.

    They also built a skyscraper filled downtown and highway system BUT the highway was planned and built by a separate minister who didnt make off ramps to get to anything downtown. It just goes through the city, you can't exit. Money to construct without purpose or common sense.

    I'm still blown away by the fact that the tallest building in the world (Dubai's uber expensive and technical wonder) has a maximum expected lifespan of only 100 years. 😢 why even bother. Their wealth must be immense to afford so many fleeting vanity projects.

    Dubai is a vanity project that will age very poorly. The desert will claim it back on months. Unfortunately the fauna and flora won't return so easily. It's what happens when you have money and power, but no actual forward thinking and don't listen to critics.

    The second Palm Island and the Worlds have not been "filled" at all. They are mostly failed and being abandoned. Only a few islands in the Worlds have been sold and the second and larger Palm Island has been abandoned now with only husks of a few projects started.
