In my opinion, she was a studio singer (like many in the 80's/early 90's). She had a look that, although not entirely what the mainstream wanted, could be molded to support the huge hit that carried her. She was, more or less, a one-hit wonder.
@@mikellclark635 We agree to disagree: outside of "Walk On By" and "Don't Make Me Over", most don't people know her. Her third album "Sybilization" (1990) was dead in the water: the album and its singles were ignored by both radio and record buyers, and did not chart. She had a moment in the late 80's, but by the 90's she was done. It's OK to admit that not every artist from that era was going to have a long career. 💯
I'm 49 and I was about 16 when I actually watched this episode live. Sybil had me then and she still got me now!!!!
Just saw this on TV and had to see it again so I looked it up on YT just to see the dancers! She was great, but the dancers killed it!!🕺🏾🕺🏾
She could really sing, phenomenal
The dancers killed it
This used to be my jam when I was younger.
