From the vaults of CineGraphic Studios, vintage 16mm films edited to the music of Mickey Katz. This was one of my very first attempts at manipulating film to music.
Today we often lament the decline of a great art form into an endless flood of live-action comic books for adolescents. Don't despair, for what is true and good cannot die. It must be transformed, and reborn in every new generation. In this film, Mr. Krasner has given us the Citizen Kane of the second decade of the new millennium . As is so often the case with pioneers, it is obvious from this compelling cinema capolavoro that he has been inspired by the great masters of the past. BRAVO!!!
I like the energy of the music , It's so fast with that hesitation in the beat that sets it apart from other music . Even though I am a Jew I don't understand most of the words , but it still sounds good. I remember hearing this when I was a child. Some of my relatives played this type of music at family circle meetings in the Hotel Piccadilly in NYC. I was a child but I remember this. I am also a lefty
the kaos in the orchestra was interesting, we see it the Oyster Princess, Spike Jones, the Russian film 'The World is Laughing, and even in Fellini. A fine old traditional type piece and should not be forgotten. I bet it came from Music Halls and would love to know when it was first done.
When you say random soundy I'm guessing that it was an untitled clip found within footage without context? It's fabulous Marx Brothers like, absolutely brilliant production, subscribed

Absolutely marvelous. Nice example. The toe-tapping syncopated music reminded me of that masterpiece, "Snow Black an' de' Sebben Dwarfs." I used that, along with lots of banned Looney Toons, in a class I taught about race and Hollywood. I wish I'd known about this one! Great job finding and sharing this with us! And Mapper, good catch on the pigs.

@the1909house The orchestra scenes are from a "soundie". They were printed in reverse because they were rear-projected in Panorams. (a film jukebox). I simply forget to flip the pictue. Look at the lettering on the music stands...backwards, my bad.
@the1909house Good observation. The artists who drew this were most likely right-handed, so it's easy for them to draw images where most characters are left-handed, as the right hand of the cartoonist can draw the instrument better.
All educational efforts on this are obliterated by the simple fact that no dates are mentioned. It is a big flaw in RUclips as there is no context to really appreciate. I would guess 1930s, but why do I have to guess???
En la canción se menciona que hay un cerdo. "No es muy Kosher que digamos". Leibl tienes un cerdo, deja la mesa. En Israel, se crían cerdos sobre un establo, no pisan Tierra Judía.
I remember seeing the cartoon on tv in the early 60s. Isn't there a shot where suddenly a radio microphone drops down and four of them start singing about the feud? What orchestra is in the soundie?
Impressive re-cutting and sound mixing! Gotta love the old man spitting(on the beat!), and the cool Soundie! What's the original title of this Soundie? HM
That was great! Though I'm curious to know who the orchestra is that you show. The way they're beating each other up with instruments reminds me of heavy metal. XD
+Kegan Mahon It's a Terry Toon and it's title is 'A Mountain Romance". The dialog and music is better in yiddisher. By the way the juvenile lead is called Romeo Calhoun but I'll never be able to think of him as anything but Handsome Herschel.
This is a buch of schimel y'all. I'm jewish and not offensive unless you look at the nose, but I don't have a big or hook nose myself. But whatever, just don't use nazi shit and we're cool.

Total mayhem and some Musicians kept playing...total dedication not found in today's musicians!
The footage is from an old cartoon that was re-titled for TV in the 50's as "Mountain Music", and an untitled "Soundie" from the late 40's.
