As all your videos posted, this is quite helpful ! I love this tune ! There are too many tunes you've posted I'd like to challenge and this one is one of my favorite. Thanks again for this help !
I love this tune no matter who plays it, but you have a way of making it sing like no one else: your understanding of the groove running through it is profound. I've learned SO much even from 1 watch! I think you'd enjoy watching the Katy Adelson version of this - she adds some gorgeous additional melodies to go along with it; I think you'd enjoy hearing it. (The two of you are, together, the best performances of Tam Lin on the internet.)
Appreciating these videos very much - thank you! It means so much that I can learn fiddle in a place where I have no teacher and little money to give to lessons anyhow.
@@peakfiddler i like your vids too, for the same reasons. bet my late Grandad would never have thought his old fiddle would be rolled out into service again 17 years on.
Hello : I am an amateur guitarist and bassist and passionate about music in general. I have always liked traditional Irish music and I am learning some melodies from those lands. I thank you infinitely for these video tutorials that help me a lot to introduce myself to this wonderful traditional music. Thank you . Greetings from Galicia (Spain), where Celtic music is also played.
Thanks! Your version of this tune is by far the best one on RUclips. I’m off to check out your version on the notation as it’s slightly different from the usual one. Love it. 🙂
Thank you! This tune is one I’ve always wanted to learn. Well, it got stuck in my head recently so I had to learn it. I am thrilled to find your version, and then this tutorial to learn it! 😱
🤓🎶 I learned full steam ahead I love sawin 😁 see all them guitars in back ground 🤓 I just started replacing all the studio equipment, house fire lost everything about 8 fiddles even 245 year old DAVid HOPF 😭 man she smelled so good, but have many again 2 Jacob Stainers for different sound.
Fantastic, got it. Thanks Chris. I find that, instead of rolling the 2nd and 3rd finger on the g string on the riff up I can also get those notes by putting the 3rd and 4th finger next to them. Do you reckon that's all right, or do you think that would be out of tune? It sounds fine to me.
Thank you very much, I have been an absolute fan of your version of this tune from the beginning and I'm working on it since a few weeks. Would you be okay to publish a version of the notation including the bowing if you have time ? I struggle a lot to find which notes to do on the same bow stroke, I tried to pause your vidéo at each note with very little success so far. Thank you so much for your work
Hi Nicolas, I worked out what i think I am doing in the first part, so hopefully that should be enough to get you started, best wishes Peak - yt3.ggpht.com/cA1GBc0RhB7RVDO0-YFsuhIRvDfLHVyp9a_SdIqIfT4gdie8v2gZ1Db4798iWgqu_EK6Yay_o3Ebsg=s800-nd
I hold the fiddle the same way for Tam Lin, and on other tunes that use the G string a lot. That first knuckle, index finger ( I guess the metacarpal ) is uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Is that something you experience or is there a way to help that. Thanks. Mike
Not really, as I was holding the violin in a deliberate way for this particular video. However as a senior, I do use an omega 3 supplement to keep everything supple.
peakfiddler Thank you. At 70 I do take supplements, and I’m active. For me, I think there may be a slight mobility problem due to an old injury. I really enjoy your videos. The music and instruction are great.
@@peakfiddler thanks i think you teach very well ive just got back into the fiddle again i did my grades but my teacher died a few years ago and i stopped playing but after watching your vidios i have got the crave back thanks again
Great teaching. And, that's a nice fiddley version! Here's a musescore backing track for anyone who wants to learn a longer version: musescore.com/user/643986/scores/5996551

There is a special quality to his playing, my foot starts tapping and the music comes alive! And that note is not dodgy. It's called "jazz", baby!

Great instructions. I can play this but it's the embellishments you add that make the tune so unique!
I think those take shape after a few years of playing and develop as your own individual style starts to naturally occur.
You're just the best fiddle teacher of RUclips ! :-)
Thanks x1000
Another excellent lesson which inspires me to keep practising. Thank you!
Thank you
Pretty tune .Thatll be on my list
