I have the SOG terminus xr and felt the same way at first. It was the first sog I was impressed with. Unfortunately the “omega” style springs are just as bad as benchmades are but there’s no 3rd party sog springs that I can find yet. But the XR lock is pretty awesome. It kind of sucks the blade closed once you get it like a 3/4 of the way closed. I just seem to have really bad luck with “omega” style springs
it seems like the pics on the e bay add I bought from have the same print on the blade as the SOG website, maybe that is the old design or orig design or something, the majority if not all the videos I have seen on it have the writing and pic of the skull like your blade.
SOG is building on their reputation of making knives as strong as tanks. I have a small Aegis and the American Lawman I told you about. I see now that both of these knives now have the upgraded steel and now an upgraded price. Yow! This Seal XR is heavier than the Lawman by about 5oz. I really didn't like carrying the Lawman because of it's weight and inconvenient closing. I don't know what you're going to do with that thing! Car hoods beware! Man, if they put that lock on the Lawman that would be a winner!
According to the Seal XR product page on Blade HQ the liners are stainless and it uses a caged bearing system at the pivot. The Adamas uses large phosphor bronze washers at the thick pivot. The Seal XR's jimping all around the knife is more comparable to the Benchmade 810 Contego. I will get the Seal XR likely soon as it is one of the nicest looking SOGs I have seen in a very long time.
I have recently purchased one of these off e bay, it has not arrived yet, but the images and text on the blade are different than every other Sog Seal xr I have seen in video and pics, do you think i should be afraid its a fake? the seller is from USA
It would be nice eventually to compare this to the recon 1 which I own 4 of. Its hard to beat the strength of the lock back design. Do not like the axis lock for many reasons.
As good as this new SOG looks as a large hard use knife it still falls short of the Benchmade 275 Adamas tank of a folding knife. No G10 but GRN instead? I too read a couple reviews of the steel liners of this SOG rusting up easily when wet. So did they use a high carbon tool steel for the liners or did they use a stainless steel? It IS a good looking knife I will say that at least. Gonna wait to see a couple more user reviews before I consider buying an XR.
Bryan McHugh I’ve kind of thought that myself. I don’t currently own an Adamas but have had the feeling/idea that it was the most comparable option. In response, I just ordered an Adamas and fully plan on carrying it for a little while before reviewing either.
@@palmettoedge1908The 275 Adamas is near indestructible. You can literally pound on it with a hammer and the above average thick Axis lock, thick stainless liners and thick 3D machined G10 still wont fail. It is interesting SOG has gone even further into Axis Lock territory than they already have with this new Axis style lock on this new XR. Look forward to reviews.
THEMAX00000 I honestly have no idea, nor do I care to find out😅. I can say though that knife buying has never and will never put me into a financial burden. It will never prevent me from providing for my family, saving for retirement or college for the kids, or put me in debt. Many people buy a cup of expensive coffee every day, go out to eat daily or multiple times per week, etc. I never do that kind of stuff and instead spend that money on knives.
I have to say I haven’t been too impressed with SOG either. This one is at least a good step in the right direction. My review for it will be coming out in the next week or so. Good and bad things to say about it.
Thanks for posting!
Love the terminus, and that Seal xr looks great. Looking forward to the review 🤘
I have a terminus XR and super great. Just the pocket clip is off a bit. And that reminds me of the terminus just on steroids. Holy shit.

There were reports that say this knife liners rusted after got wet, it would be good to know if that is true, by the way thanks for the review.

Ordering one tomorrow. I've been waiting since January for the drop.

Nice review.
Quick question for you Sir if I may be so bold. How much money do you spend on knives annually ( January to January)

@@palmettoedge1908 Well said Sir. Fiscally responsible and well rewarded.
😹 The Handle looks like Emerson, If local dealer offer a good price I will buy it, I think.
I've only owned one sog... and it failed on me and left a scar.... but s35vn, figity, harduse I'm down.

Its looks nice but it's still a sog but great review
The overpriced vaperwear has arrived!
I can't wait for a review after some use. Don't mean to sound bad but I don't trust SOG. Thanks for checking it out.
