@@HowToRenovateAChateau If it is not too feminine for Phillip, I think a predominately burgundy wallpaper design with some subdued colors of green , purple and tan from winter flowers and leaves would be nice. I also like the idea of brownish pomegranates mention above and I like the idea of the gold trim.

Yes! Actually, even burgundy can be done in a "soft" version. Like the wallpapers she has done are softer versions of the same jewel tones of green and blue. Burgandy can look very elegant.
A burgundy room is much needed to bring in the history of the chateau. The colours of the renovated rooms are gorgeous but brings in more of a modern vibe.
For all the work that man has done let him pick the paint for one room at least 😂

The ‘messy’ room needs an Anna wallpaper with pomegranates in the burgundy, lovely pink that’s also in the room, some gold and maybe a hint sage. ❤️🥂

love it! Pomegranates are so resplendent and can go Tudor or Arts and Crafts/Art Nouveau! I love a dark room. If it is large, it can make it feel cozy. You can always make it lightened with thedrapes and soft furnishings.

And I mean, if it feels too dark, mix it up with lighter tones of gold or cream to make it lighter without taking away the cozy feeling :)

It is nice to refer to different rooms by their color. It's good to have all different color rooms. Going back to a previous burgandy color can be really nice if you do it right.
Burgundy with bronze or antique gold accents would look soo lovely! It could be named the rose room and made to look luxurious and romantic XD

I like the dark color in the last room. I think you should avoid a completely homogeneous color palette in the chateau. A warm, dark colored room would be a nice option for your guests to choose from.
Yeah, I agree a totally cool palette is too much. Balance the colors for a more interesting vibe.
There’s a lovely light pink room already so not so cool, but very light and pastel. I think a mix of light and deep colored bedrooms for a variety of moods is a good idea! I like the burgundy
I’m with Phillip, your suggestions for accents to go alongside the burgundy will create a strong masculine and calm room.
A good balance to the lighter pallets found around the home.

So the panels on the lower part of the walls should be burgundy and a wallpaper with accents of burgundy would be so rich and inviting

I agree that Burgundy would be sumptuous and rich and a lovely original wallpaper would keep the room lively/energetic and prevent the Burgundy from flattening the mood of the room and becoming too darkly oppressive.

Most of the rooms although lovely are safe, neutral monochromatic schemes so one dramatic burgundy room might be a fun change. It would be a real challenge to get it just right.
I agree they are too cold. White and cool range. Warm Burgandy with rust accents and gold. Natural fibres to soften the feel. Rich exotic colours. PASSION
I am a Tapestry Weaver by Trade, and have been a Master Weaver since the 1970's. My husband works in metal, building a forge for Antique Gate designs in Gardens
anna should try stretching herself...out of her comfort zone with the dark rich room idea. I am 100% confident she would end up with something glorious.
The trick is to not do all the walls floor to ceiling burgundy, but to use gold around mirror and framing botanical prints and maybe a hint of gold, olive green & burgundy in the wallpaper print. Do lower wainscoting dark.
Burgundy! It's a chateau filled with light not a dark country cottage, it can handle some rich tones!

Definitely do burgundy! The other rooms are lovely but if they all have those cool tones the place will feel too cold and maybe too minimal. Some warmer rooms would be splendid!

Im team burgandy only because 1: I can see Anna designing the most beautiful burgundy wallpaper(with a hint of green😉) and 2: its just one room and would be lovely for there to be at least ONE MASCULINE room. 3: if any couple could succeed in doing such a room, it would be these two.😁😁😉 4: just for curiosity sake I would LOVE to see this room in Phillips aesthetic .😁

Ya plus they’re attract people with a more niche style interest. A moody room will just add a fun dlc pack that might just pull its own clientele.
I LOVE moody interiors, but I think they get a bad rap cuz people imagine dark colors and think gloomy, and that's not the case, instead dark colors produce a mysterious, yet cozy and intimate space kinda like a fancy lounge restaurant at night.

Dark rooms can be very beautiful and can be a great choice fir for insomniacs. Let Philip have one dark room.
If you have a smaller room, consider making it into a single room. Lalande has also 1 single room, at a slightly lower price of course, but with ensuite bathroom. Perfectly for someone travelling alone
Yes! Please think of solo guests. We’re more common than people seem to think and it’s really annoying having to pay extra because I can’t convince friends to travel with me :/

I just stumbled onto this channel. Despite spending the last 3 years in nonstop renovations on my own place, I find myself wanting to fly to France and lend a hand fixing up the chateau... I'm completely head over heels in love with it. It's so great to see it being renovated so lovingly and tastefully. Well done!
Oh I love that burgundy colour , can you imagine it with crisp white on the bottom wood paneling and with gold accents . Very luxurious
I say yes to a burgundy colored room! Would be a lovely contrast to other rooms in the chateau to have one with all the rich dark tones and gold accents.

I love the overall palette that Anna is working with throughout the Chateau, and I think it would be lovely to stick with it, so I would prefer her color scheme for the room, yet on the other hand, I agree with some of the others, Phillip should be allowed at least one room to decorate as he wishes!

I loooove the burgundy. I think it would be lovely as an accent that wouldn’t overwhelm the room. Maybe wallpaper with flowers (or I like the pomegranate idea) on a light background. I had been thinking you needed a pink room!
They already have a pink room! It is the sister room to the blue room with the shower in the closet space.

Maybe you could incorporate some burgundy within a floral design of the lower half of the room, and a warm almond or ivory satin for the remaining walls. Burgundy chaise, sette, and accents. Antique gold tone candlesticks. You guys can make it beautiful no matter what you do !

I realize I'm late to the party, but go for burgundy! You need a French colour for a French chateau! Also it wouldn't look too dark because the room gets a lot of light, especially if you get lighter wood for the floor.
I have been renovating and flipping old houses on and off for the past 50 years. I have worked with many talented craftsmen during that time. I freely complement you both on the job you two are doing. I realize what a labor of love it is for you. I hope you continue to do your bit in preserving your grand old chateau for the benefit of generations to come.

My dinning and family room in my 1904 estate are painted deep cranberry. It makes the gilded picture frames pop. Everyone thought I was nuts, but those are the rooms that get the most compliments.
Love cranberry . 30 years ago I did a bold colour choice and did my main rooms a beautiful blue / violet colour . Back then I had to mix the colour my self to get what I wanted . Friends thought I was crazy until they saw it . It made the art pop . Even my very critical father actually liked it . It was also very serene and like teal , was what is called an international colour , which means that it can compliment any colour .

@@pebblesmiller9026 agree , about multiple tones , it was quit a day getting colour that I mixed myself just right . It wasn’t a cold blue at all , which was a surprise to people . The space was quit large and I took down a partial wall to get more sunshine poring into the space as well .

While dark is dramatic, it is also just that, dark. Light is beautiful, and green isn't the only color, so no sympathy. You guys are doing a beautiful job! Whatever you choose will be lovely.

Would love to see Anna's design take on a warmer color pallet, the burgundy I think might feel very dark but also possibly cozy and moody? With or without the red, I'd love to see something that ventures outside of the green/blue pallet (even though the blues/greens are so incredibly beautiful!)
Charcoal is a gorgeous color on walls and looks great with marble. Incidentally, the story pf how you’d procured second-hand marble and it matching perfectly your existing marble is providential!

Philippe is adorable but when it comes to colour I would leave it up to Anna as so far her choices have been elegance par ex cellance.Esoteric taste is great for a private home but travellers appreciate beauty calm and comfort on arrival in a new place.*smile* just my humble opinion.This Chateau has that in spades just one question for two such perfectionists do you think you will last the distance?

I think that dark burgundy colour is actually called puce. Which was once the most stylish colour in French fashion and decor. I think it means flea.

Burhandy it is! Will look authentic and create a very special atmosphere.
Lighter colours make the room look bigger, you can still use the darker colours on the accessories including the radiators and low panels you talked about.
100% agree! The burgundy colour is gorgeous but it would be too overwhelming for a bedroom I think.

I think you guys are doing more than an incredible job on this place because I've seen other times where it's the total opposite. My brother bought a house and it had a kid's room painted Pluto orange and a Disney character border going through the middle of the wall all the way around. I was helping him paint and stuff and I used to think it was funny to walk in that room and just scream. I like to look at houses online and a realtor website sends me photos of houses and their Interiors. One house had dark blue dark orange and dark purple walls-quite scary. Another was a nice Bungalow but had so much new renovation all the beautiful aspects of the house was almost gone. Like for instance it had a beautiful stairway and wood work in spots but had a totally renovated kitchen and so much new aspects nothing went together and was actually quite depressing to look at. You guys have exceptional taste and utmost respect for such a beautiful chateau. I love the original back door and the windows upstairs that unlatch and open inward. Now you need to have a horse drawn carriage ride for the people that come and stay. 😁
the burgundy with warm gold and copper flourishes would look amazing, and be a change of aesthetic for the chateau. A nice mix of dark and light rooms is healthy, especially if with all those large windows

I think it could really be interesting and special to have one room that's in a darker colour (nonetheless I also really like the green colour you already used) and the burgundy could be beautiful, added with another lovely wallpaper-design (I'm very interested in how you made it, too)! I support the burgundy colour for the room. The fact that the rooms are so big with such high ceilings and tall windows means warmer, darker colours won't feel oppressive at all, and it a nice chance from the cold palate you've been using so far.
I like the burgundy color too, but you have to admit that Anna's color selections so far have been perfect.

I think a navy and gold room would be fabulous! Especially if the drapes and furniture are light in colour! It’ll be gorgeous!
I personally think that the burgundy color is great! I may be biased, because I love the William Morris Pimpernel wallpaper both in Brick&olive and fig&sisal. They are both dark and moody, but still have that lightness of cream and pink and both also have green and yellow tones. Something like that might be a wonderfull color palette for that room, especially if Philip would like one moody room.
