Keep things rusty, except your tools! Авто/Мото
Those old flatheads were good engines..
Looking great, can't wait to see you fire it up.
That engine is in remarkably good condition. I'm 6 years younger and in nothing like as good shape... 👍
I like videos like this.
Something I've never done but think may help in a severely stuck piston . Flip the block up so the piston is facing up place a wood block on top then on top of the block wire a old orbital sander without sandpaper . You would need to wire it down tight . Then shoot panther piss on top of the piston turn it on for a few hours . I really think that will force the oil into the voids and break it lose.
Good to see the flat head again so soon.
Those thin lock nuts are called PAL nuts. Tightened one half turn from contact, prevented con rod nuts from loosening.
Man! that flattie looks excellent!!!
Looking forward to hearing it run
My dad had a 337 lincoln engine in his 50 model F8 truck. When it did die, it went hard with no salvage so I found a lincoln with that engine and brought it home... it had the automatic behind it and the crank was not drilled for a pilot bearing... afro engineering got it drilled and we installed it. I fired up after some pounding on some pistons to free them, right back together and it lasted longer than the truck as dad took a light pole out with it. Love your videos lad and wish some of the grease that will not wash off was still on my paws. took almost fifteen years for it to all be gone
Probably a lot of us grey beards following this jasper reliving funner times. Today my old hemi finally left, one more project to go. Thanks Alaskan.

Nice tips on how to save from damaging the engine part and everything things look great and I know you will get running again soon nice update on it.👍
Those tin rod nuts are called "Pal Nuts" - With the old long throw engines the theory was that the pal nuts would keep the rod nuts from loosening, Ford and Chevy both used them and Hercules actually had a cotter pin in each rod bolt. That engine looks really good Austin, now you need to find a 1934 Ford 3-window coupe to put it in!
Good information! Thank you for the comment
I always enjoy your videos. Keep us informed. Thank you for sharing.
Last flathead I rebuild was in my buddie's 1952 Ford 3 tone truck; It was a bit of a beast, but between the 2 of us we did it!
Its been so long since you started this I forgot all about it. Thanks for the educational video.
Dude..... Austin, another Awesome video!! I can't wait for you to get the old girl put back together and running.
I love the flatheads! That one looks great!
You have to wonder how many miles and how much use these old motors were subjected to? Great to follow along on your build!
Very Nice job on the teardown
There's a lot of cast iron in that block. It looks like is built to survive eternity.
Love the hose idea, never thoughts of that!! I’ve taped them before and that worked but hose would be more betterer
sweet
Those are called P.A.L. lock nuts, straight from the WW 2 era.
You could try warming the piston up with a torch n maybe a little heat will help loosen up the rust. looks like a runner for sure.
👍👍👍👍👍V8
I have a 59ab motor and will be curious to see how your cooling turns out. Had plenty of problems. Very cool motor
🙂🌟👍1948.337.V8.👍👏

👍🍻
should be able on that piston to tap out the bottom where bore is clean looked like there was plenty of room
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Video quality and content improving. Hope the 337 works out. Why are the tops of the cylinders d shaped?
NICE, but I gotta say it was kind of a butt-hook not seeing that last piston come out:)
What is this engine going in?
