I mostly shoot SLRs, and I’ve only ever been able to go down to 1/15th of a second. So I’m curious if this would be possible with an SLR if I had better technique or if the mirror slap will limit how slow I can go.
To answer your question Nick, I think it's the combination of having a steady hand and the lack of a mirror. When nothing is moving I could even go a little slower than that.
Great job, very cool use of the 800T. In the video we see you taking picture of some cops or guardians with a dog, and the blue light in this scene is really great. It was been a pleasure to watch the print of this one too.
CineStill looks awesome Robin. The red halos over the streetlights are a nice effect from that film. I like the faceless people one because of its social commentary. Thanks for sharing.
4:03 ist Wahnsinn! Mit manuellem Fokus und der Belichtungszeit genau alles so abzupassen, daß das Gesicht scharf ist und dann noch eine coole Komposition. Hammer!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You make getting the composition, exposure and focus look so easy Your experience and talent can be overlooked by viewers who have never tried street photography at night with a manual film camera
That last one shot it's by far my favourite. I've got a roll of Cinestill aging in the fridge, I'm from Mexico City, so I find this episode particularly inspiring. Maybe I'll shoot that roll soon. As always great work!
Great episode at night in CDMX. I’ve never shot 800T and have to say i’m a big fan. Your photos were amazing. Hard to pick a favorite here, i’m between the creepy Pennywise, the floating skateboard, the cops playing with the dog and that bike cab in Zocalo.
really nice episode, i like cinestill 800T very much. Although you think metering was simple I learned alot from this episode. You took some pretty nice shoots this episode. I also liked how the Leica performed with the voigtlander lens.
I’ve been “saving” my one and only roll of cinestill 800t bc for a time when I’m traveling again. The price per roll makes me hesitant to just shoot it randomly haha. I really like the photos of the skateboarder, the people in the lit up van, and the red light & rickshaw guy. Great vid as always!
I like the way the video was often darker than the images you made. This gave us the experience of surprise you often have when shooting film. The last image with the bicycle and all the red lights was cool!
The lighting in the video is a good representation of how it looked in reality. The photos look brighter because of the faster aperture and the sometimes slower shutter speeds.
Waiting for the crosswalk to clear for the shot at 11:14 was worth it even if you took a traffic risk as it was the best example of the CineStill red halos, with the little lights tying together nicely with the larger crosswalk light. 👍
Really enjoyed these Mexico videos and learned too, thanks so much. My favorite is the woman looking out the window. Did you double back to get this shot? It appeared so in the video.
lots of outstanding results; really hard to pick a favorite. the van shot and the bicycle rickshaw really stood out during the video, but the pennywise shot is fantastic as well. nicely done.
I just picked up this film and the black and white one...can't wait to use the 800t but being how expensive it is I'm being very picky of when I use it lol
How can somebody not remember Pennywise? Great shot as the previous one as well. Shocked to see also that there was a woman behind the bars, checked 3 times the video and couldn't spot her!
The Cinestill look is just gorgeous. You're right, it's best in blue hour to get these cinematic tones. Personally I don't like Cinestill when it's not well lit, it gets too grainy for my taste. Excellent photographs.
Great episode, never actually shot film at night yet in a city, so great seeing what could be accomplished as far as exposure etc. I liked several shots in this episode. But enjoyed the Symbolic mannequin shot as well as the man at the crossing with the bicycle taxi with the red lights framing him, when i saw you choosing the spot i thought to myself, i hope he squat down and wait for less people in the frame, and you did hehe, it came out great :D /Martin the Swede,
I hate using tripods! 😂 For street photography it doesn't make much sense since the subjects are not static buildings and also it would be a much slower process and would also draw too much attention.
Twice the security has chased me off at the Palacio de bellas artes because I look like professional but they have great rap battles there. HOW LONG ARE YOU IN MEXICO, OR MEXICO CITY FOR?
1/8th of a sec handheld! That’s pretty legit, do you think it’s possible due to the rangefinder system or primarily having steady hands? Or both?
What does the rangefinder have to do with anything?
@@joeltunnah no mirror slap

Congratulations, you are the winner of the print. Can you shoot me a message over on Instagram or through my website?

Great episode and beautiful photographs, my favorite is the lady at the window.
Absolutly Nice film roll and great pictures... thanks for this episode

I like the Pennywise shot at most. The photo is the most vivid one, good story, color and contrast. Thanks Robin for the good video!
CineStill looks awesome Robin. The red halos over the streetlights are a nice effect from that film. I like the faceless people one because of its social commentary. Thanks for sharing.
So great ! A recently bought a leica and you are my reference to use it... so many things to learn about your videos. Thanks !
I could literally watch your videos all day
The shot at 2:17 with the couple is actually my favorite of the night
4:03 ist Wahnsinn! Mit manuellem Fokus und der Belichtungszeit genau alles so abzupassen, daß das Gesicht scharf ist und dann noch eine coole Komposition. Hammer!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like the one with the bike on the pedestrian crossing!
You make getting the composition, exposure and focus look so easy
Your experience and talent can be overlooked by viewers who have never tried street photography at night with a manual film camera
Thank you very much Ronald!
I just bought one of your Zines. Keep the episodes coming please.
Beautiful colourful pictures 👌
love the shot of the skater, my favorite defenitly
So nice that you enjoy the Alameda Central Park, it’s one of the nicest parts of downtown Mexico
Cinestill 800t is a fantastic film. I've been shooting it at 3200 for night photos and it holds up beautifully. Great work!
Brilliant - your photos on cinestill have improved!
Wow that skateboard and rickshaw images are so good 👏
Mexico City has definitely come back to life a lot more compared to 6 months ago. Amazing to see. Great work!
That last one shot it's by far my favourite. I've got a roll of Cinestill aging in the fridge, I'm from Mexico City, so I find this episode particularly inspiring. Maybe I'll shoot that roll soon.
As always great work!
Ziemlich cool gemacht, Glückwunsch!
Fav photo - The guy with the rickshaw 😉

As always, great shots! I would like to see some Cinestill 800 with the X-pan.
Have already done that in Bangkok but when shooting at night you need flash since f/4 is way too slow.
Super Kamera, super Film der ist für solche Lichtverhältnisse gemacht, und natürlich klasse Arbeit von Dir 😊👍🏽 Gruß Feisel
really nice episode, i like cinestill 800T very much. Although you think metering was simple I learned alot from this episode. You took some pretty nice shoots this episode. I also liked how the Leica performed with the voigtlander lens.
Yes another film episode 👏👌

Amazing photos
My favorite is also the one with the clown 😊
I like the way the video was often darker than the images you made. This gave us the experience of surprise you often have when shooting film. The last image with the bicycle and all the red lights was cool!
Film has probably double the dynamic range of a GoPro.
The lighting in the video is a good representation of how it looked in reality. The photos look brighter because of the faster aperture and the sometimes slower shutter speeds.
These are insanely good Robin, my fave is the one with the clown, killer photos!
I do have a favourite: the scateboarder. Ok it is blurred but one doesn‘t miss any sharpness It‘s telling the story just as it is. Great work again.
Lovely shots once again!
Waiting for the crosswalk to clear for the shot at 11:14 was worth it even if you took a traffic risk as it was the best example of the CineStill red halos, with the little lights tying together nicely with the larger crosswalk light. 👍
Awesome shots ❤️
why not 3:39 in the prints? great picture!
Really enjoyed these Mexico videos and learned too, thanks so much. My favorite is the woman looking out the window. Did you double back to get this shot? It appeared so in the video.

Love how the cinestill turned out.Great work
Really cool
I love the skater shot❤️

Did Pennywise follow you from Taiwan 😂... Another great video Robin, really need to shoot some CineStill 800T
He might have! 🤡😳

Thanks for another great episode. Photos with great color, however I’ve come to realize that I think the halation is a bit too much for my taste
Same. I really don’t understand the love that this film gets. The color is washed out too.
I much rather shoot 500t developed in ECN-2 since that has no halos at all.
the clown pic looks like a classic painting
Hi! I liked more the first one, with the clown!
The Cinestill look is just gorgeous. You're right, it's best in blue hour to get these cinematic tones. Personally I don't like Cinestill when it's not well lit, it gets too grainy for my taste. Excellent photographs.
I gotta get out there at night with some cinestill. Lovely shots
love cinestill!! so expensive though ($30AUD+ here in australia!) :,) loved the shots at 2:37 4:03 and 8:56 ! cheers for another great episode
16€ per roll = uff I will leave it to you lol, but the results are absolutely wonderful!
Great episode, never actually shot film at night yet in a city, so great seeing what could be accomplished as far as exposure etc. I liked several shots in this episode. Thank you very much Martin!
Excellent ♡♡♡♡
Really like #4. Is the red glow around light sources a characteristic of the film, the lens, or both?
It’s the film. Cinestill strips the anti-halation layer off of Kodak Vision 3 movie film, and repackages it.
Cool video ❤
Das Bild mit dem Clown ist der Hammer!
Nice! :)
There are fewer T coloured lights in the cities these days. Most LED lightings are now daylight temperature.
Yes, it’s horrible. I never thought I would miss the orange sodium vapor lights, but I do.
Yes, that is very unfortunate. 😫
Print for the one on skateboard please 🙏🙏🙏 but overall everything looks great as always 😍😍
Hi there, would love to win the one with the skateboarder 😁
I'd very much like to get a print!
I haven’t shot cinestill at night yet, have you had to use a tripod? I’m curious if it’s one should carry one to get great shots?
Check out Nick Carver's last two videos where he tries it
I hate using tripods! 😂 For street photography it doesn't make much sense since the subjects are not static buildings and also it would be a much slower process and would also draw too much attention.
I like the kissing couple at 8:57 most.
Twice the security has chased me off at the Palacio de bellas artes because I look like professional but they have great rap battles there. HOW LONG ARE YOU IN MEXICO, OR MEXICO CITY FOR?
I have been in Mexico for four month but I am not there anymore.
Very crowded streets.
Auf wiedersehen.
He pretends digital is better at night, but he always uses film for that...
