- Today we have some hay to rake! We will be using the 686 International and 1650 Oliver both pulling New Holland Rollbar Rakes. The 686 was just in the shop this week getting some hydraulics fixed and now it's time to test it out. We also go over what that repair entailed. Along with some insight on the hay drying process. I'm always amazed at how you are able to do all the camera work. It seems I'm always so stretched for time, the thought of trying to take the time to place cameras just doesn't compute.

Your dad seems to be very mellow even tempered individual. Does he ever swear or curse. If not, that speaks volumes to me about his character and morals. Also indicates a well adjusted person. He always seems to think before he speaks. I hope you two have a great relationship as father and son, because it takes a strong tie to farm together. Also cherish your dad as long as you have him. My dad has been gone nine years now and I miss him something fierce.

Always enjoy watching your family working together. Tractor repairs seem to be a way of life no matter the brand or the farm. You must've had more rain than us...a lot more growth on the hay. I've had to double and triple rake to get enough volume in the windrows this summer. Hope to get into third cut soon.

It's been a good year to grow hay, but too limited on haying days in much of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
What did y'all do with "Ollie?" You seem to be comfortable using her regularly in your (much appreciated) videos. No longer concerned with antifreeze in the oil or did you address that issue already? I know (from hard experience) that antifreeze "EATS" bearings...and I'd therefore, counselled you to "park it" --- don't EVEN..... But it's good to see her "making herself useful." Always (vicariously) enjoy time "down on th' farm." Thanks again.
I think it was just a condensation issue. In the winter time, if your thermostat doesn't work, the engine won't get hot enough to burn off any moisture. That was when they were having the issues. We had an M Farmall do the same thing..
I have watched you vids for some time now. Love them. I have seen you guys raking a lot with two rakes, I think that maybe a double rake hitch is in the future??? Just wondering. But hey, who am I to say. Have a wonderful day.

We had similar issues with our 686. Loved the tractor and very dependable. Your Oliver, it sounds like you have an exhaust leak on the exhaust manifold somewhere.
Some will disagree, but I think the dolly-wheel bar rake was the best design ever.

Red Run Right i think is a place you can get aftermarket parts for older IH tractors.

Had to get a set of knotter brake pads for my 336 baler. Two steel plates with two hole and brake material glued to them. $200.
We always doubled the third window in so it was far away in from the woods and fence rows and out of the shade and was drier so we could single the outer two which always tend to be a bit greener.
Tractor parts -- aftermarket parts companies on the internet or a good machinist. 👍
How old are those rakes? The paint looks like they’re almost brand new.

I always see the farm in the backround with a couple Harvestores a silo and long barn. Are cows still being milked there?

Great experiences on the farm. We can chuckle about similar experiences. Makes you realize we're all in it together sometimes. Sometimes it is problems we realize we can learn about with people at the tractor shows where the collectors are. By the way, it that Oliver of yours keeping water out of the crankcase?

Good ole iron. They break down, but at least you dont have to have software for it.
What are your thoughts on the John Deere right to repair issue?
So many things happen sporadically or over time, it’s good to make notes for the next time something vaguely familiar happens. Also, keep in mind a lot of parts are made on economies of scale, meaning only a few are made because of demand or they’re made using a lot of resources.
When I was in the army we use to look in the Chinook choppers.if you didn't see hydraulic fluid leaking ,you kinda got nervous

I thought I was the only one who had to take things apart and put them back together twice (or thrice) to get them right….
I have an 806 that’s leaking out the plugs in the rear of both remotes. Going to tear into it shortly, I suspect I have the same problem that you did. It’s ridiculous what parts cost anymore. Doesn’t matter red or green their all high, but from what I’ve been needing lately it seems that red parts are more expensive. I did find a couple discussions where a guy had the part number for that small o ring on the pin, it’s somewhere around $6. Not all parts breakdowns list the o ring separate. I was thinking of trying to replace just that rather than the entire pin. It sounds like it’s difficult to get the o ring on without tearing it.
Wow! 60 dollars for the pin 😬 i don’t remember ever or seeing something like that . But good to know in case a few people that I know that has the awesome internationals 👍🏾😁
....well, there's ONE good thing about Florida.....the sun NEVER "gets behind the hill..." We have the sun, jus' "poor" on "hills."
If it’s good drying weather why not double windrow it and have. Half the time baling it ?

Actually it doesn't matter what color the tractor is it could be a Minneapolis Moline all the way to a John Deere Oliver Massey Ferguson international case they all go bad the remotes to eventually!!!

I’d love to see how you decide what paths to use when using a Rolabar so it isn’t going over windrows you’ve already made in odd shaped fields. Did you know someone has made a partial Gierok Farm for Farming Simulator 22? I was stoked when he said he was adding it. It’s actually added to the Stitzer, WI map, since that was the area he was making. It’s what I’m playing on now.
