    Colin calling Robin Williams the ultimate improviser, evoked a strange feeling from me. Because I think Colin is the greatest improviser I’ve ever watched so that praise just felt elevated

      Ohh, oh, yeah, Robin was in a category all his own and was _the guy,_ who made seasoned performers and movie stars star struck. He was the best, and there is absolutely no doubt that he was in the correct profession and bested everyone, whilst still elevating their work.

    I just watched Robin on "Whose Line" the other day. He was an absolute legend at that point. To go out on a live show with those improv veterans and stand toe to toe with them... I seriously doubt there's a single other top comedian who would have put themselves out there like that. Really shows who Robin was, just the quintessential entertainer top to bottom. If they changed the show at the last second and said, "Actually were just going to do a very serious performance of Hamlet tonight instead," Robin could have stepped up and done that on a dime

    Whenever I rewatch that episode I immediately think about how Robbin’s presence forced Ryan and Collin to bring out their A game.
    They are both pros and some of the best at what they do, but Robin had them on their toes the whole time.

    Think about it:
    I'd imagine that being in Wayne, Colin, and Ryan's shoes, it must have been super intimidating working alongside Robin because you'd think it would make you question how good you really are. Like comparing a rump roast to a filet mignon.
    But in Robin's shoes, he's out there just hanging out doing improv as one of the boys.

    Robin and Richard Simmons. There were a LOT of guests on the American version of Whose Line, but no one brought such an added kick to the stage as those two, and you can still feel it through the screen now watching it. Favorite part is still the prompt "Famous Movie Quotes Said by Different Actors". I've even done my own spins on it before, it's so good.

    I heard the cast was nervous for that episode because they were like “This is Robin Williams. We had better step our game up because he’s one of the greatest improvisers of all time. He was probably the first ever mainstream improvs comic.” And even Robin was nervous because he thought “Sang, I’ve been doing movies for X-number of years. Everything I’ve been doing is with a script. I haven’t improvised in years and these guys do
    It every week. I had better step my game up.” That episode was a perfect case of how iron sharpens iron.

    I just hate that Robin was the biggest personality in the room on who's line. Like he had to do it all 150%. He couldn't take a step back. It had to he him. He had to he the loudest. He had to he the guy. Jeff Daniels worked in Dumb and Dumber because he knew when to back off and let Jim Carrey do his thing. A comedy act usually has a funny guy and straight man. Its a give and take. In the who's line appearances, Robin had to give and give and give and sometimes I'd just like to know how he'd take it.

      Oh look! It's this stupidity again! It doesn't matter how many times you repeat a lie, kid, its never going to be the truth. But you heard an unsubstantiated rumor and you just have to repeat it.

    • @axel995r
      @axel995r 14 дней назад +2

      @@palladiamorsdeus well he was coked up, that's not a rumor, it's a fact, and Colin also pretty much confirmed it here by saying he went through 3 shirts. Excessive sweating is a pretty obvious symptom of being coked up, especially since I doubt that studio was really an oven, it was probably pretty well cooled, seeing as how a lot of the regulars would wear some variations of suits...That being said, saying that he isn't funny is just dumb, he absolutely is and when someone as funny as Colin looks up to you, that in my book means you are damn good.

    I have had the fortune of seeing Colin leading some up and comers in Calgary (sadly they were... still up and coming), Wayne when he came to the Jubilee many years ago (It was fantastic, I enjoyed 'a hillbilly stole my propane tank'), and Ryan and Jim when they came to the Grey Eagle a couple years ago (also very enjoyable).
    But Robin Williams... I have only had the fortune of seeing his films.
