    The plot of most first season DS9 episodes is "We've discovered a new and deeply annoying culture"

      No no, that was only half the plot of all episodes of the first season, the other half was "bajoran peasants need food and are arguing over garden forks while 500 replicators float in near orbit above them"

    • @philiphunn194

      And because they hadn't quite figured out Bajoran culture at that point, you got bizarre episodes like "The Storyteller" where nothing is consistent with what came before or after.

    My theory is that Sisko sang it so well because he was, after all, a father, and parents get used to singing stupid songs with their kids. Dax sang it ok too, but Kira and Bashir were too conscious of their dignity. Once you're a parent, you lose that.

    • @ScarriorIII
      @ScarriorIII 3 года назад +3

      2 nasty habits shows like Star Trek, etc fail into: 2nd episode after the pilot is one of the weakest in the whole series...every single time. Stargate had a super weak 2nd/3rd episode. Most Star Trek shows have the same. 2nd habit is the first season is always super preachy and drunk on its idealism levels. 1st season of TNG, DS9 were like that, they went off saving the galaxy with their feelings. The skant, Thank God, only appeared in the first season. 1st of season of Stargate, same problem. They are supposed to be fighting against an evil demigod and instead are seeking new life and strange new worlds, etc. Never get so sold on your self that forget literally everything else.
