Drill some holes in the ramp to let air flow through and the wood should be fine for now.
Nice work, as a guy that runs a trailer fabrication and repair shop its always cool seeing these videos.
Couple small tips, change that rear ramp to mesh, removable, or even to flip down to the floor of the trailer. It kills your fuel mileage, and having the wind drag on the rear of the trailer causes the tongue to become lighter and squirrelly when empty. Best advise is to make removable narrow ones that slide under the trailer on those fancy arched crossmembers, then you can haul longer lumber, steel, and logs, hanging off the back too. Second, keep and eye on the rust on the inside of the tubes. Square tubes, especially those perforated ones that you can't paint the inside but snow and water can get into, rust extremely fast from the inside out, and can make un attractive rust staining around the holes. A quick shot of fluid film every few holes will extend the life of those tenfold. And third, I'd cross those safety chains, after I replaced them with new chains a few links longer and with hooks that have spring assisted closures. Oh yea, raise them sides so there's an inch clearance from the deck to the bottom of them, wont hold water and easy to sweep out. You certainly do nice clean work though man.
I appreciate all the suggestions and thanks a lot for checking it out! I'll definitely be upgrading this in time, but this was a good starting point.
@@Kordare Beyond impressed with your quality of work, i think all the projects you've done in your shop have turned out fantastic. Keep the cool content up!
@@camerongraham902 thanks a lot man!
Great trailer build! I gained lots of ideas for my own jet ski trailer conversion project! Thank you!
Thanks! I later changed the back gate to mesh which helped a lot with wind resistance.
Another great video! Thanks for not breaking it up into like 6 different video's its nice seeing it come together all at once!
Thanks a lot! Yeah I thought it would be much nicer to watch in this format.
Looks great. I would definitely mesh the ramp. For sight as mentioned but also that’s a huge wind sail now. Mesh will let air flow through much better.
Keep it up.
Yeah I probably will do that once I find some scrap mesh for cheap. It's surprisingly very expensive to buy new. Thanks!
Nice trailer. I am glad you knew to grind the galvanized coating off before welding on it. That stuff makes toxic fumes that can mess you up pretty bad.
Thanks! Yeah I made sure to wear a respirator when grinding and welding
Nice work man! When you paint/stain the wood, the word “Kordare” has to be stenciled in somewhere! Keep the aluminum color! Looks nice! Very satisfying work, keep the projects coming!
Thanks a lot, I may have to try that!
I love your content. Also you have a nice accent that helps me to improve my english. So please, keep going. Cheers from Brazil :)
Thanks I appreciate the support!
This is a neat random upload. The trailer looks like something you’ll evolve over time, after using it and figuring out what’s best for you. I was hoping to see it painted but you explained why that’s yet to happen. Would be near to see it in the same colour you used as edging for your ramp/loft.
Thanks! Yeah that might be cool, everything in my garage will end up black and grey, haha
I don't know what it is about your videos.... but you're one of the few creators that i look forward to posting vids. Nice work.
Really appreciate your support!
I’ve got a suggestion for the ramp, if you wanted to you could add another hinging mechanism about half way up the ramp so it could fold over and hang down in the back. This could help with the wind resistance issues you might have.
We actually did think about this during the build, but at that point I didn't want to complicate the project even more, haha.
@@Kordare completely makes sense
Great build but for the tail gate. You could have made the ramps by getting the height of your side rails. Cut that in half, framed it up, and made something to hold it in place. That way the tail gate wouldn’t be so high and you’d have 6ft ramps.
That is one way to paint 🤣 and I like it 🥰
Hahaha 🙌🙌
Great job!
Thanks!
Just a bit of a safety tip, your chains should always go in an "X" pattern under the hitch. Nice work on the trailer though, love all the vids!
Noted and thanks!
Great build, I'm sure it will do the job just fine..
Awesome video btw.. 👍
Thanks a lot! It performed perfectly hauling a bunch of big logs on it's first trip 🙌
Through this is the first one of the videos I seen in a month RUclips hadn't been presenting them to me
Yeah they haven't been recommending my videos much lately
Them damn cocksuckers
Awesome build man! It's really cool to see how far you've come since building that house!!
Thanks a lot!
I was expecting you too do some tricks on it! mobile ramp checked of the list.
Haha we talked about it I'm sure it will happen
Cool project. One suggestion that I'm sure you could tackle no problem. Instead of spending money to replace the axle, consider stretching the axle. It looks like they are bolt-on hubs, so it would be pretty easy to cut the tube in half, put some more dimensional tubing in the middle and move the u-bolt axle mounts over a bit. It'll give you better stability to have the wheels the same track-width as the width of the trailer when towing. As far as the ramp and expanded metal, check out Kloeckner Metals - they carry expanded mesh. It'll not only help with aerodynamics but would also help if you're loading anything in wet conditions to give some grip. It might even lighten up your ramp a little. Your spacing on the braces of the ramp is close enough where you wouldn't get any sagging of the mesh between them either. Otherwise, it all looks great. Good job man!
Thanks a lot and I appreciate the suggestions! The main reason to change it would be to go to a heavier duty hub/wheel but what you mentioned would definitely work to widen the current setup.
consider making the ramp flip forward so when you tow empty it doesn't destroy your mpg.
It kind of can do that, although once you load anything it would be in the way to allow the ramp to fold flat...
Pretty sweet trailer! (Now I'm re-looking at all of ours.)
That tubing frame is brilliant; gives you a LOT of customization options down the road!
(Don't know your thoughts on truck bed liner, but might give you a cool look for the floor.)
Thanks! Haven't decided on coating yet, but probably some heavy duty roll on paint
Came out nice guy.👍
Thanks man!
thats brilliant bud but it looks very heavy
Heavy and strong 🤘
Looks great, well done. I would change those hooks on your safety chains, they really should have the spring loaded latch hooks.
Thanks! I don't see it really being an issue, I've never even used a trailer that had latched hooks.
Great video dude and pls make videos abt this thing if u gon modify it in future
Thanks and I definitely will!
Enjoined the new video 👍. It’s been too long since the last upload. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! I promise the next one won't be as long of a wait!
Let’s see some more Jeep content it’s been awhile
What do you want to see?
@@Kordare more repairs on it it’s got potential
Such great content man keep it up please!!
Thanks a lot, more to come!
Next video, Master Bedroom Build!
Yessss
Long time no see lmao looks good man
Thanks! Yeah this one took longer than expected, I'm glad it's complete so I can move on to some cooler projects.
Doesnt make sense at all but it looks sweet lolll also ur stickers are sick
hahah thanks
Is there anything in that house that is not custom one of a kind?? Another sick build!
Thanks! The bmw's are still way too stock! Not for long though....
@@Kordare Oh man here we go again :D
Wind resistance on the ramp could (will!) lead to trailer sway.
So far so good, I've taken two long trips with it, drives super straight. I will probably change it to mesh eventually
Good to hear re. the stability. Mesh would certainly improve the vision when reversing!
mesh for the gate so you can see through it, i heard motor oil and a little diesel makes the wood last really long
Hmmm might need to look into that
you’ll get better gas mileage with the mesh gate. that’s for sure
The project came out great. Question though. What would be a good MIG welder for someone who’s just starting out?
He has one linked in the description
@@landyacht_7.317 oh awesome. Thank you
@@codeman9115 no problem just trying to help
Thanks! Mine is linked in the description, although if you have the money, it's worth stepping up to the handler 140, better build quality all around compared to the 125. Good luck!
The wind will be pounding against that 5 foot gate, should of used some heavy grating......air flow through and you could see through
Yeah I mentioned that in the video. I'll change it if I find some scrap mesh
Would it be a bad idea to permanently mount the bars that hold the ramp in place when it is up?
What do you mean?
@@Kordare It looks like you have two Aluminum bars that lock the ramp in place when it is in the up postion. Instead of just dropping them to the ground when the ramp is down you could bolt them in place so that they are always up.
@@OU8Aspark yeah I could definitely do that
two things man one cross your safetly chains because god forbid that trailer pops off at the cross it acts like another hitch and keeps the trailer as centered as it can and two @NATSCHKE FAMILY ADVENTURES is right airflow would be a very good idea in that ramp you dont want that ramp collapsing going 65 with stuff in the back
Have a good day and stay safe
Thanks I ill cross them in the future. Once I can find some cheap mesh I'll replace the ramp portion.
@@Kordare glad I could be of assistance man have fun with it
can you do a Q&A?
Yeah I might do that soon
@@Kordare ok cool
Love the vid! Love all of your content!
Appreciate the support 🙌
Nice job 👍 Just saw a video on a custom downdraft grinding table. Thought that would be a cool project you could do if you were trying to think of something. I’m sure you have a never ending project list like me though 😂
Thanks! And you got that right!
Looks awesome! Question on the load though - How much is the 1400lb max load reduced with the beefy frame you added?
Thanks! Honestly not completely sure how much the frame weighs, if I had to guess probably a few hundred pounds. I'll definitely put a more heavy duty axle under it eventually.
@@Kordare Ah didn't realize those parts are swappable. That sounds like a good place to start, since the original frame probably isn't the weak point. Either axle, tire, or leaves.
@@fark111 yup you're exactly right
I would have extendet it more in the back, because now there will be very much weight in the front
Usually u wanna keep more load weight towards the front of your trailer So I’m assuming having the trailer heavier in the front won’t do any harm.
@@zaidbhatti5952 well normally the weight should be centered above the axis to reduce weight on the coupling.
Maybe that doesnt matter in the us where you have much less safety restrictions.
Yeah it is definitely a little front biased but that's mostly just a result of reusing an existing trailer footprint. Generally weight forward is much better than weight behind the axle for trailer tracking.
Just drive fast everywhere. The wind resistance on the ramp will impart lift on the coupling.
I'd like to just live in the shop wake up throw my fruit boots on get yelled at by the bmx dudes say eff it chill and wrench on some cars 💯😂
😂😂
@@Kordare haha still got them old school TRS alpha details had them for 16 years now lol they still fit even at 30 years old btw love the custom over fenders on the stang man awesome idea definitely one of a kind
@@youremom6349 thanks man!
@@Kordare no problem man keep it up
@@Kordare real talk man love the fact you actually take time to respond to your subscribers it shows the reality of someone that is really doing this for themselves and the fans that love the content keep it up bro great content and awesome vibes 💯🤙
Don't mean to criticise you man but the rear tailgate will cause serious drag, also your hitch is too short. It'll be very snappy to reverse
Yeah I mentioned the drag in the video but I've already used this and it wasn't an issue, also had no problems reversing the trailer. Was very similar to other trailers I've used.
I'm sure you realized 1400 lbs is no longer your rating with adding all that metal and all. (maybe 1200 now?)
Yup probably about 1200 until I upgrade the axle. Still plenty for 99% of what I'll need it for.
Anybody else miss the mustang content 😢
Next video will be mustang mods 😉
Looks like shit I would used 3 " angle iron axle is to small for that much weight
Thanks!
