It's because you dont accidentally lock the door and with your keys inside the car. I have honda civic 95 it has the same function. Btw I'm from Pakistan
@@TheOnlyAlphaa werid.. then mine must not be working all the time like that. I just test mine and it will sometimes lock without pulling the handle other times it wont. good to know!

That door lock only operating with the handle pulled is not on purpose.. no idea why it would do that.
