Superb tip...thank you...I did this recommended mod to my suolo....took it out for the first time last night and lo and behold at 2 of the 6 tie out points I was unable to get the tenet pegs into the ground, but by using the extenders it worked a treat....many thanks

Great tip, I just larks footed the plastic line lock direct to the existing Hilleburg tie down point, shortens the whole assembly and you can still use it to peg out should you wish

    Hi Craig,
I usually find myself in the high Sierras where the only ground is solid granite. Or deep snow. I rarely even bother to carry tent pegs anymore. All of my tie out loops have a permanent meter or so of paracord hanging off of them. A tautline hitch makes a knot that easily replaces the linelocks and the cord is looped around any rock or deadman anchor that is handy.
    Great video though! :)
Take care and all the best from California 🧡

It’s because the tent peg if it suddenly and unexpectedly hits an immovable object could penetrate the sole and thus into your foot, or bend the peg thus rendering it useless. That could be a disastrous consequence.👍🏻

@@TheBushcraftPadawan Hi, The thing is, you dont get the right pressure from the stakes to the tent. And in moderat to heavy winds, wind will get under the tent aswell. I have now 5 different hilleberg tents. I used to work there in Sweden. Its a reason for why the tent is made like it is. And it is sturdiness, and making those adjustments will not be a big problem. But in heavy storms( that is kinda what this tent is made for) i advice not to use those adjustments. But it will be fine in most i guess :)
Its great for easier «perfect tent setup» i agree. A smart «hack» but people should know its not a great idea in real storms or heavy winds. Best regards

In extreme conditions when you can't get pegs in at the pegging points..... Then surely this technique is better than no peg or moving your tent when you can't peg in one peg. Well that's what the Vulcan in me thinks.
