Watts actually made it illegal to do moves off the top rope. So guys like Ricky Steamboat, Brian Pillman, and Bobby Eaton couldn't do their finishers. The over the top rope disqualification rule was something that WCW had for years that carried over from the Crockett NWA era and remained in place after Watts's departure.
Herd was hired in late 1988 and started with the company officially in January 1989. Dusty returned in January 1991 and was hired back by Jack Petrik and not Herd, so Herd already had a hair up his butt because Dusty went over his head and spoke directly to the main boss. January 1992 is when Herd gave his "him or me" ultimatum to Petrik. So he wasn't gone shortly after Starrcade 90 as Conrad indicates. Dusty came back the next month and they worked together for about a year before Herd made his exit.
Absolutely! No wonder his voice has gotten gravellier over the years. To be fair, Gordon Solie smoked like a chimney, and he was still the best to ever to do it.
Yes. His contributions were the Ding Dongs, Hunchbacks, wanting to be Ric Flair to be Spartacus leading to his departure in 1991 and almost putting WCW out of business.
Well being in a business that you don't understand can frustrate you in a Heartbeat
1 thing I’ve learned in my life is who ever says
“It’s them or me”
Always make it them.
Bill Watts came to WCW in 1992 and he made illegal throwing wrestlers over the top rope during the match
@ShadowAngel I hope you have all this good info written/typed down somewhere.

He also removed the mats on the outside of the ring.

First I've heard RAW and impact in the same sentence.
Please correct if this is wrong: WCW was so screwed up that Herd RESIGNED. He wasn't fired. WOW!!
They should of fired Herd in 1990 basically the same time they hired him.
Herd would last until Jan 1992. His contract expired and there was obviously no reason to bring him back.
JR needs to lay off the cigarettes.

JR sure has a hard-on for Bill Shaw, rotfl.
Well Ironically the WWE is starting or continuing to do the samething that WCW is doing by hiring all of these non wrestling knowledge writers
ya definitely not new lol, they started doing that probably in 2004
Know Your Business...
Jim Herd definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves for his contribution to prowrestling
Your right. He gets the shit flung at him that he deserves.
