Great video !!! I'm also learning how to on Pompano fishing. I liked how you went in detail on the rigs you were using. That helped me a lot
on the set up for fishing Pompano, also where to cast out to.Thanks !!!
Hey everyone, please pray for some people that were involved in a boating collision in Savannah, GA on Friday. There were nine people involved, 5 have been found deceased, two are in the hospital, and two are still missing. There was a young girl who lost her mother, father, and two older brothers in the accident. This happened when there were a lot of boats out on the water, so please be safe and keep these people in your prayers. 😣🙏
I really enjoy watching you surf fish. I hit 70 last fall and my kayak has been sitting in my garage unused this year. Too many aches and pains. Alternatives like this are interesting. Thanks for sharing. No matter what format, I enjoy the videos.
what kind of kayak you got?
Just loving this variety of your content, beach vs. kayak, and targeting pomps. Thanks for mixing it up and keeping the interest high.
What I love most about your channel is the honesty. Not many RUclipsrs would be willing to admit that they don’t know something but offer to take you along and learn with you. Thank you
Informative, honest, laidback, no hype. Best fishing RUclips videos out there. 👍
The photography is sharp and detailed!!!! It came out excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the shoutout and it was a pleasure as always to chase them. Griff also loved the cameo...
This was a great video! I keep telling myself I need to surf fish more. It's always a great time when there isn't piles of seaweed on my line.
These are quickly becoming my favorite videos you do
Good to listen to an honest person!! Got to love those poms!
Thanks for the informative video and making me jealous !!! As a saltwater fisherman myself here Connecticut I used those bait bite strips while fishing along the Gulf of Mexico and was amazed how well they worked. Looks like great morning and a better day of fishing. Keep a tight line and enjoy.
Elias diaries are just the best!
Watching this while I sit on the beach in NJ, wishing I brought my gear. Great job Elias!
Thanks for the video. It’s always nice to cast out multiple lines and just wait for the fish to come get ‘em. I like being on the move out in the kayak, but it’s nice to relax now and again and fish from the shore.👍🏻👍🏻
The video was great...shirt was totally awesome!
It’s amazing how those fish bite, or even how they hunt for food, within’ those big waves and rip currents. I have never fished the ocean but have always wanted to. Great video.👍👍👍👍🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
elias...i watch you with my grandkids. we love the vids where you keep a lot of eaters. they never understand when you throw'em back. haha. keep it going.
I like the honesty!!
Its always a good idea to fish the beach
1/2 bucktail with sand flea fishbites became my go-to last summer for mid-day beach trips up on LI.
Caught lots of fluke plus the occasional striper, blue and weakfish. Also got a lot of kingfish/sea mullet/whiting bites, but rarely hooked them with that setup.
Elias surf fishing G.O.A.T.
Best fish I’ve ever eaten. I’m still waiting on my moment ! Thanks for the pomp! Can’t wait to go again big dog.
Great video. Surf fishing is always fun as far as I'm concerned. Never know what you're going to lock horns with out there. Thanks again.
Great stuff. Love watching the rod go off
Excited to see pompano fishing as Im on the west coast and can't partake..Tight lines!!
Great video I love the surf fishing. I've never caught a pompano on a pompano jig in NC. I've thrown one quite a bit while bait fishing but no luck. I have had bluefish hit them and I have caught one speck on one. A small bucktail might work
Same. We tried it again today one of us fishing bait and me with the jig. I tore up ladyfish flatties and other junk fish - but we both blanked on pompano. Valuable information for us to learn from.
I've gone surf fishing probably a dozen times and never caught a thing lol I guess its pretty casual when I go but figure I would've got something by now lol Love that shot with the second camera!!!
You gotta find em when you’re surf fishing or you won’t even get a bite.
Love surfing man.
I would love to see a surf pompano vid, u walk-in the beach with artificials, I’m mostly a surf caster but I’ve been watchin u for years and really enjoy these land based vids so it would b cool to see how u approach different structure and situations in the surf
Great vid! I went pompano hunting from the surf on the 30th as well here in South Carolina. No luck but caught a couple of nice-sized whiting. Great day at the beach either way.
Now I live in Florida and I use small yellow or red and white jig heads and banana jigs. It does run hit and cold. They are always on the move. I would put out a setup with sand files and work a jig .good luck tight lines always enjoy your video
Good stuff, E. This looks like amazing fun.
Larry Finch in Jacksonville is the go- to when it comes to pompano fishing anywhere. You can find his videos easily. He's also known as " the pompano man"
Really glad to see you so happy man! 🙌🏻🤙🏻 I do enjoy this type of fishing, less labor intensive still good reward, plus you have time to do other things like read, music, friends, food etc.
But all types of fishing are fun in their own elements.
I really enjoy your surf fishing video. Im a huge surf fisherman.
The surf zone! Gotta love it bud 🤙🤙
Elias, we fish the Chesapeake here in VA and when we run down to NC for pomps, the best artificial we've used hands down are banana jigs/goofy jigs...I've had luck with them at the surf and on piers and have caught red drum and even whiting on them
Killing it man! Awesome stuff as usual
Love the surf fishing videos. My favorite way to fish :)
That yellow belly pompano was a beauty!
Tight lines 🎣
Great video like always, possibly a sheepshead surf video would also be good.
You gotta try bottom sweepers with sand fleas, I’ve always had great luck with the 1/4 oz tipped with a flea
I like the way you mix it up. I agree that doing the same thing in the same places can get tiresome.
Love the shore fishing videos!!!
Great video as always! Thank you for all the information and advice you give, hope you had a nice Memorial Day, God bless!
I really enjoyed this video!
''Yeah Buddy'' sounds like a shout out to Chad.
Rode down to Ocean Isle, took my 3 and 5 yr old boys out w the family today. Only had my 1/8oz trout eye w/ zman electric chicken paddle tail. Maybe 45 casts and two small flounder just for fun. More fleas than I have seen in my life!! Sadly, no rigs to fish it :(
So we switched it up and caught DOZENS...of fleas w our hands. All smiles from the boys. Out came wife's paddle board board and some falls and sore quads later, an ice cold brew. Tight lines with tan lines!
Thanks for a beach trip. To drive down from my home in the Carolina mountains to beach fish is one of my favorites. I am in the market for an affordable beach cart, let us know what you use.
I caught a 1lb 12oz 16" fork Pomp last year here in Delaware from the beach. I've caught a few here before but only in the 10 to 12" range.
Been surf fishing for well over a decade. I quit making double hook leaders after seeing the many pictures of folks with the second hook stuck through a finger or hand. The surf is way different down here in Texas, that beach is calm and clean compared to what I'm used to.
Lord be with all the people that were involved in this accident. Give them peace.
Thanks for the content 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Surf Fishing Elias? I'm all in
Thanks buddy cheers Ricky 💃🕺🏼🎶🐈⬛🎸🔥🍷
Would be great to see more cooking with your catches
The pomp jig with the teaser works. Give them a try.
What size hooks are you use when targeting pompano?
1/0
It’s my kind of fishing. Soaking a piece of bunker downing some adult beverages.
GREAT content as usual. Hadn't thought of using FishBites on top of shrimp. Guessing that keeps the pinfish and croakers from stealing as much. Maybe? Also, any suggestions as to what you like for kayak Personal Floatation Device?
Here in Florida's Gulf west coast, the pass inlets, lined with rock rip rap, are crawling with sand fleas, like John's Pass...and along those rocky shorelines, are where we find Pompano.
I've watched you in your kyack, along similar rocky breaks, and I'm curious if Pompano aren't there as well as off the beach.
At least in Florida, where you find sand fleas near the Gulf passes and inlets, are where the Pompano roam.
Lures of choice are small jigs, bucktailed, and a small shrimp treat for enhancement has been known to draw attention.
I once saw on Carolina Outdoor Journal a fishing trip they did catching Pompano at the mouth of the Cape Fear and they were using an artificial jig. This may be the show:Cape Fear Pompano - Classic S2E10. It was a long time ago but I do remember the jig was small and a yellow color. It was in the middle of the channel in shallow water between Bald Head and Fort Caswell.
I really hope they bring back the Oak Island Kayak Tournament this October
I've had days where I caught dozens of pompano years ago. But it was in the late summer and early fall. And it would have taken 5 of mine to make 1 that size! 😆 Haven't been in a few years. Dad had us trying to find some Silly Willy Jigs online but they were perpetually sold out.
I don't know squat about pompano, but I lucked into a mess of them in Florida throwing tiny Kastmaster spoons..
What sand spikes are you using?
Elias! Do you like the taste of Spots? (Best tasting fish IMO) Well, keep those Pigfish! Tastes like Spots. Honestly. LMK
Check out the banana jig it’s the weirdest thing but they bust the pomp’s in Florida
I'm thinking about leaving the heavers at home this year...
E, those tires won't work in Gulf Coast sand. About had a coronary before I changed to orange balloon tires. Glad to see you trying fish bites. Fish gum is hot down here now. Didn't look like you were using circle hooks, which most use on their pomp rigs.
I fished the Gulf also from Cedar Key up to Pensacola and loved it. Coming from Connecticut it was one of the best days enjoying fishing and relaxing.
I think you should try the ez clam.
Fish the goofy jigs with a teaser or banana jigs for the pompano on artificial
great vid, ty ty
What kind of kill bag?
fishbites rocks
Great work! What size, style hook do you use with this rig?
It looks like 1/0 octopus circle hooks.
What floats and beads are you using? Great video as usual
where can we find the big eye beads?
Surf fishing has been abysmal here in Galveston TX might get lucky with some dink whiting but the amount of hardheads and stingrays keeps me in the bays
Hook size is #2 or 2/0 octopus? Should that size hook and rig work for northern king also ?
ralph
I just asked him to clarify the same thing
he says it is a 2 but it looks loke a 2/0
I get excited over nice pompano too, lol.
Where you fishing? Can't figure where you are? It's not Oak Island. Is it Fort Fisher area?
Hey bro, where is this your at in North Carolina? I see your shirt says oak island... nice video
Nice
No sand fleas in CA
"I have the best possible bait, and also I am attaching a bit of Fish Bite."
Nice vid Bud. We're planning on getting back out, rod in hand, once I have this last surgery & re-coop. I do have a question that has been bugging me for months though. Where have you been tying into those octopus in the winter & fall? I'm in Va. & towing the Whaler in NC won't be much of a problem, again, after that surgery. If you could enlighten me I's really appreciate it.
Those cooler by the roadside shrimp man, I'd be hard pressed to fish with any of 'em instead of eating the whole batch
Did you give up on the bike?
Not yet I need to try it now that the bite is steady
Hahahaha I cracked up when you mentioned you wouldn’t try the fish bites! By the way, when you get the chance, could you tell me if there’s a season where pompano is more plentiful around your area. Typically, Florida is around the spring. Thanks and keep up the amazing videos ❤️
I saw a little girl catch a 4 pound pompano in august in nc. Her dad was scared to pick it up so my dad had to go over and get it out of the water for them. They had no clue what they had just caught.
growing on east coast fla guys catching pompano selling them payed for their fishing vacation.
Love the honesty. Too many bullshitters out there. Glad that you can relax and do different styles of fishing.
I like Fish Bites and have found them to be effective but so many of these testimonials consist of "I'm going to attach some prime bait, and a Fish bites." If you are attaching fresh shrimp or sand fleas to the hook, that is what is getting you bites, not the Fish Bites.
I've had times when I can't get a bite out of fresh shrimp, but fish bites work, and times when it's been the opposite, and times when it takes both at the same time. Fish are weird, man
What beach is that?
It looks uninhabited.
Long stretches of "straight" beach, without periodic projections, make reading the water harder. Scouting at low tide really helps. Pompano can turn-on at dawn, and high water always helps, but location and water clarity will be key if you're tossing jigs. ( like those Goofy-Jigs you've used previously ) One visual clue on the beach are concentrations of small cochina shells. They indicate places where currents have come together, carrying the remnants of Pompano feeding to the shore. In off-colored water, you're spot-on with either one of the Clam Fishbites flavors. There's no better source of information on Pompano, than "the legend" Larry Finch : ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=larry+finch+pompano+man
Thanks - there’s some pockets I’ve found but rarely anything that feature rich. It sure seems like the days I beach pompano are the ones I’m seeing sand fleas in the wash - which isn’t too often!
@@EliasVFishing No doubt they've been an anomaly in Carolina waters. The lack of a size or number limit says volumes. There have been several instances in the NE where fish are being found far outside what were once "traditional" ranges and seasonal patterns. How far it goes, and with which species, will depend on the food supply, or lack thereof.
There's usually not that much talking in fishing. Watch your rods better. You had action several times while trying to be "informative".
