Yeah I could see the issues with the colors chosen but other than that I thought it was a pretty solid tattoo
when he said the green cat represent a dead cat I was thinking "aye the dead cat could be looking into the reflection of what he could have been"

It's always rubbed me the wrong way how they get marked for a canvas moving.
When a canvas wants a certain body part tattooed and won't budge on it then squirms and twitches because it hurts the artist should not be punished for it.
Its going to be tough to tattoo a squirming canvas it would be like asking a painter to paint perfectly in moving car then marking them for the art being messy when it's what you asked for.
There is also the time constraints with that type of tattoo you can take a break at shops you can't here.
Tattoos like that should be banned in timed show or get someone who can handle that type of pain.
How could the judges possibly know if a wobbly line is from a twitchy canvas or from a lack of skill? If they let a wobbly line slide for one artist, all of the artists will just claim, "oh that happened when my canvas twitched"

They go around and check unless it's a blind one, there in and out of the booths and they have people on the ground constantly checking.
If you watch ink master you know alot of the time they give the worst tattoos and worst canvas to people they want out.
@@fattygonzolasthe serum and stomach area is incredibly sensitive, and just like Angelus said you can see the contractions of the muscles very easily. If this was a shop they would ask for them to sit still or not do this tattoo. But on the show it was do or be eliminated.
Numbing spray couldve helped but that's just a rough spot.
@@KnightOfTheWired exactly. in a shop setting if you don't sit still you'll be asked to leave. the artists here can't do that.
not only did arlene fuck up her own blade tat, she ruined angel’s boat. no reason she should’ve gotten that far, shit is rigged.

I didn't mind the green cat. He wasn't an ugly or overly saturated green. It was muted with the grey. & the lion looked good too.
Oliver Peck being a disembodied voice in every video makes me laugh every time
the thing ive always loved ab this show, is that they are so technical with every tatto they do, but if you look at all of the tattoos they have on their bodies they all look like 7th grade school desks😅
Yeah because many tattoo artists practice on themselves before ruining other people's bodies, or let other apprentices practice on them.
Jail tattoos arent very technical. I have a few and I like them but its not up to snuff for all this ghey color work and technicality.
The flag is the right way because it's not angled to catch the wind like a sail is, so the boat going forward would have the flag, which again is not a sail, going towards the back, like your hair would be.
So pissed they kicked Gonzo out so quick, that guy would have sent more than half the house packing.

Flag is def not going the wrong way. Sails show boat traveling to the left which would leave the small flag being blown to the right due to direction of boat travel
Yes it is. Flags move due to wind, and if the sails are being blown forward and towards the left, the flag has to also in order for it to physically work otherwise you’re showing two different wind patterns.
If there was no wind my point would be null due to the boat dragging it, but they show wind movement with how the sails are pushed out.
@@alhere7029 I think it's actually more likely it'd be blown straight back since when sailing, you sail up against the wind. At least that's my experience with my parents' sailboat and the flags they have attached to their mast and railings

They don’t lol the editors often take different reactions from different moments and place them wherever they like to make it look dramatic. That’s how majority of these “reality” TV shows work.
@@gothicMCRgirl but they literally talk about it also. They get worried about certain challenges as they’re reacting to it.
@@gothicMCRgirl The same happens during tattoo evaluations. You always see contestants smirking, or rolling their eyes, but those reactions did not necessarily happen at that time, but were cut together to make it appear more dramatic. It's all about drama...
It would be so funny if this is their reaction every time a customer comes into their studio asking for a tattoo.

The flag critique was out of place, if the ship is moving at speed of course the fabric is dragging behind. Photographs of moving sailboats show it so easily, think of the large flags on the stern that fly in the wind...
That cat is OBVIOUSLY a muted gray, not "green" by a traditional sense
The "placement rules" for tattooing are pretty bogus whenever a client's preference is involved
The client's choice should trump even a master's criticism because it's about what they want on their body
a true competition would feature everyone doing the same body part. But they probably already struggle to get people to get free tattoos who then have to pay to get them fixed. Unless the producers pay for it.

16:32 He didn’t give her bad advice!!! If you look closely the handle is backwards in the original drawing.
When he said “the blade should be on this side” he meant in relation to the handle.
She thought he meant the whole image should be flipped! That’s why she brought up the rules they (tattooers) have. Tattoos need ‘face forwards’ which is why she pushed back.
It’s entirely possible that a flag atop a sailboat might fly according to apparent wind generated from forward motion, not at all necessarily the same direction from which the wind is filling the sails. Just saying… 2:03
I hurt my brain thinking about that. I still don't know what the flag would do, forward motion and wind behind the ship should cancel out (in my mind at least) and leave the flag just hanging there but that doesn't sound right either.

I think this is a good way of thinking about it. You are moving with the wind so things other than the large sails on the boat won't feel that. What you (and the flag) will feel is the wind coming from the direction you are going, so typically the front of the boat, so the flag would be pushed in that direction

I agree. I’m more pissed that she made it further than Angel, who was a FAR better artist than Amanda. All I gotta say is that God Angel came back in seasons 13 and 14 and nearly crushed both of those seasons
Her ship tattoo is perfect, the flag is the right way, they needed to pull of a picture of a ship at sea and put these judges in their places. A ship sailing forward is going to more likely cause it's flag to flow back than flow forward; if you're going to be inking someone look are reference photos for the love of god. It's super basic info that any sailor or artist should know, and considering that Western tattooing got started in the sailor community, maybe learn a little more about the roots of the goddamn job you claim your good at.
Why wouldnt they get 8 or 12 hrs. 6 hrs isnt enough no matter how good you are, especially for realistic and color
Christian basically sabotaged anyone he didn’t really like. He felt coaching was beneath him. His “not picking colors” was literally him saying yes to get him to shut up. He acted like they were all just lazy and they got horrible advice for it

Dudes raven skull tattoo looked like a Victorian gothic window on top of a bird beak lol it was bad and lopsided to boot lol

I like the cat a lot. I think the reflection is cool. Genuinely did not see what they hated so much about it.
These guys don't know how a sail works. The wind does not push directly into the sail. And its very common to be sailing faster than the wind, so the flag may be pointed toward the back or sideways. Pretty pompous comment to say the flag is pointed the wrong direction when he doesn't even know the physics behind it.
The boat makes sense to me because the boat is moving and by the looks of it it’s moving fast so it would make sense that a small flag went backwards

I would be livid having a green cat. Like for real, cats are never green. What’s with ink master tattooing cats green? The only pass was the cat-erpillar that Angel did in season 14 since caterpillars are green.

Kind of having a hard time seeing how the knife tattoo is wrong. Everything picture i've seen of military knives so far had the guard on the cutting side of the blade

He got fired when a photo of him in blackface years ago resurfaced. They kept his voice in all the videos but removed him

They have been pretty much, the most recent seasons, they’ve had completely new judges & a new host
Tattoo artists not know which way the flag goes is frustrating...the wind PUSHES the sails...therefore the boat is moving...which causes the flag to fly the opposite way ...I hate seeing tats where the flag is fa ung forwards...Jesus. Lol the judges getting that wrong is insane.

"How to make a schematic of a knife, it's a knife?" 😑babe, its easy, just draw the knife small, then lines coming off it with each piece separate from the rest, pommel pin each separate layer of the handle guard blade with the hidden tang. boom done easy peasy.
I get your point but cats are never naturally green so unless it is implied that the cat is dyed then green is an unflattering color. That's what they meant. This was supposed to be a realistic cat and realistically the chances of seeing a healthy cat of that color are low.
@@spykethespider5070 not unless the cat is in a forest and is a light grey color. the foliage can reflect off the cat making it appear green.
If anyone thinks these shows arnt clipped in a certain way to sway the viewers are the exact same people that should not be able to vote
