- Oh hey! In this episode, I explore my struggles of not understanding my native Kadazan language! You know this one, hehehehee ;) I was inspired by real life experiences and challenges that I faced when talking to strangers or elders in my family, especially with my late great-grandma.
This video is dedicated to ANYONE who can't speak in your mother tongue; doesn't matter if it's Kadazan or any native Sabahan language or Chinese, Tamil, Tagalog etc... You are not alone!! cue Jin Hackman's Banana song

I understand completely how you feel! I'm a Kadazandusun and I can't speak my native language. There are only a few other people in my kampung who are the same age as I am but they are able to speak it fluently, due to the fact they've lived in the kampung all their lives and my family lives in the city. Thank God I made up for it by being able to fluently speak in English. I can half-and-half understand people speaking it and what they're asking me but I can't reply back in Kadazan as fluent as I wish I could. Being the granddaughter of the ketua kampung is also huge downfall on my behalf because that's how people know me best, ketua kampung's granddaughter yg cannot speak Kadazan. Keep making more videos and all the best!

im indonesian but really love Sabah, i've been there in 2011 & 2013, what a friendly people, i still remember dusun languange, ngaran ku Sam, iku sikul hiti Bandung. kinoro hiringan mamarakat!

I'm sino kadazan too but my parent has awareness to teach me kadazan from child,hahaha i proud to be kadazan.Nga au ku hiivan nogi sina ku.hihi
Which language you can speak ?? Kadazan or just Chinese ? If you can speak both, I'm proud of you and you are so impressive !

Fact: Kadazan & Dusun are not the same, it took me full 5 years to master Dusun language 🤣 . The funny thing is my race are Kadazan but speak Dusun, odd isn't.

yang unlike itu biarlah sa mo kastau kamurang...ya biar pun kita pandai minum tapai......pandai makan hinava..pandai minum lihing....pandai aramaiti.....TIDAK ADA GUNA ITU...kalu bahasa sendiri pun inda pandai cakap....tidak cukup klu paham seja.....BELAJAR JUGA......

I have the same relationship with Teochew. Apparently I speak Hokkien peppered with a little Teochew and a very heavily Hokkien-accented Teochew, hehehehe! ^_^

My biggest concern is... What if my generation is the last generation that will only know how to speak 'sikit2' kadazan. Imagine if we have children, then lama2 hilang sudah tu language 😔 *sigh*
