That final line by Hemingway, that little smile by Allen......That my friends, is a perfect ending to a film.

    Superb. A masterpiece.
    Woody Allen's very own Casablanca.
At the end, when Tracey says "Not everybody gets corrupted", his expression tells the whole story... because actually yes, yes they do.

That isn't the key line. It's the line after: "You have to have a little faith in people."

Superior. Blew me away when I saw it in 1979. As if the story is not perfect enough, he layers on a spectacular soundtrack that further brings to light the drama and the feel and the emotions in his story and in his city.

The first time I saw this film, when it first came out, started a lifelong appreciation of Gershwin's music Allen's films.
It also made me want to visit New York. Next year, some 46 latter, the promise I made to myself as a 20 year old will finally becoming true.

One of the best films Woody Allen has ever made, even he though he hates Manhattan.

I watched a 1987 interview when he basically said that he missed the mark with Manhattan. Not so much that he hated the movie. Could someone please point me where he said he hates the film.
Not being snarky, I really want to I know.

She is unbelievably beautiful in this great Woody Allen film. The guy was one of a kind. Kinda like another jew - Phil Spector.
