Manhattan (1979) Ending (HD)

  • The classic ending to one of Woody Allen's greatest films, Manhattan, in which Isaac Davis (Allen) realizes he made a big mistake in letting his teenaged lover Tracy (Oscar-nominated Mariel Hemingway) to - and finds her just as she's leaving for London. The last look on Isaac's wry, smiling face is reminiscient of Charlie Chaplin's look at the end of City Lights (1931) - a portion of the credits was left in to allow the sweeping "Rhapsody in Blue" to remain intact.

At the end, Tracy is the mature one in the relationship. A perfect conclusion.

    Superb. A masterpiece.
    Woody Allen's very own Casablanca.
At the end, when Tracey says "Not everybody gets corrupted", his expression tells the whole story... because actually yes, yes they do.

Superior. Blew me away when I saw it in 1979. As if the story is not perfect enough, he layers on a spectacular soundtrack that further brings to light the drama and the feel and the emotions in his story and in his city.

One of the best films Woody Allen has ever made, even he though he hates Manhattan.
His fans still like the movie regardless of what he thinks of it.

I watched a 1987 interview when he basically said that he missed the mark with Manhattan. Not so much that he hated the movie. Could someone please point me where he said he hates the film.
Not being snarky, I really want to I know.
