- The classic ending to one of Woody Allen's greatest films, Manhattan, in which Isaac Davis (Allen) realizes he made a big mistake in letting his teenaged lover Tracy (Oscar-nominated Mariel Hemingway) to - and finds her just as she's leaving for London. The last look on Isaac's wry, smiling face is reminiscient of Charlie Chaplin's look at the end of City Lights (1931) - a portion of the credits was left in to allow the sweeping "Rhapsody in Blue" to remain intact.
That final line by Hemingway, that little smile by Allen......That my friends, is a perfect ending to a film.
At the end, Tracy is the mature one in the relationship. A perfect conclusion.
One of my favorite endings to a film. Just perfect.
Superb. A masterpiece.
Woody Allen's very own Casablanca.
At the end, when Tracey says "Not everybody gets corrupted", his expression tells the whole story... because actually yes, yes they do.
Superior. Blew me away when I saw it in 1979. As if the story is not perfect enough, he layers on a spectacular soundtrack that further brings to light the drama and the feel and the emotions in his story and in his city.
my favorite movie of all time! a masterpiece. a perfect ending🙏💞
Brings a tear to my eye. . . ( for many reasons ). And I’d guess that it does the same for many of you . ,m
So perfect in everything. Thank you Woody for this movie
Perfection in retrospection.
His best film.
One of the best films Woody Allen has ever made, even he though he hates Manhattan.
His fans still like the movie regardless of what he thinks of it.
He loves New York city, lifelong New Yorker.
@@thehouseofcm Yes he loves New York City is where he lives with his wife and children.
I was referring to his film Manhattan which he hates.
@@Agent-cz9rjlmfao ...
I watched a 1987 interview when he basically said that he missed the mark with Manhattan. Not so much that he hated the movie. Could someone please point me where he said he hates the film.
Not being snarky, I really want to I know.
Masterpiece!
Thanks for such beauty and genius, Master Allen. ❤
He's afraid that he's not going to live up to her experiences and she is going to find a better guy.
He finally realised
"It is not the end. It is the beginning." It was the idea. I made a mistake I guess.
Don’t worry, Woody. She’ll still barely be legal after 6 months in London.
Creepy, given what we now know about the guy.
What exactly do you know about the guy?
Greater than anything by Bergman !
BS only a groomer old fart loves this crap of a movie
And Woody thinks it's his worst film.
@@jonahfalcon1970Only the artist KNOWS what he was actually trying to achieve... Even if we all do love it, we have different criteria from his own vision.
@@jonahfalcon1970 I think that he believes The Curse Of Jade Scorpion to be his worst, actually.
@@candelise Did Woody offer to do films for free if they'd burn the negatives to Curse of the Jade Scorpion?
