    Great video. I just installed the 5.38 gears. With the Spartan locker.
    Your video helped. Thank you. I did not use that crush sleeve. On mine
    So why do you think you had Failure? I do not want to redo mine again. About 2 weeks on and off.

      I have no idea why it failed. I fixed that axle for my cousins samurai. And he bought it like that.

    How much should it cost to have this done ?

      Honestly, I'm not a mechanic, and I also have never paid a mechanic to do any work in my life. My opinion is. If you went to a shop to get gears installed and they charge 100 dollars an hour. I don't see how this would take more than about 5 hours. So 500 in labor, but that's just my opinion, I really don't know

    What is it that you are measuring with alingment tools?

    • @davidcraft4909
      @davidcraft4909  4 года назад +1

      what alingment tools are you talking about? the only measuring tools need is a dial indicator and a magnetic stand to hold the dial indicator in place. and with that I am measuring the backlash. its the play you have between the gears when you turn them back and forth. I'm sorry if I didn't answer your question but I don't really understand the question.

    Anyway to do this without a press?

  • @justintucker9961

    I took off my pinion nut and my pinion still does not want to come out,o you usually have to press it out

      They get stuck sometimes, on the last one I had to put the nut on the end, and get a block of wood. And a 5lb hammer. I have a press but I didn't see an easy way to use it.

      My drive side looks good but my coast is a little high towards the heal it has a 50 thousand shim you think its to much shim or not enough

    • @davidcraft4909
      @davidcraft4909  2 года назад

      If it almost looks good, then I would be changing it by .010" at a time. .050" is a big change.

      @justintucker9961 2 года назад

      @@davidcraft4909 I mean I have 50 thousands all together how much shim did end up with overall

      I would concentrate on getting the drive side as perfect as possible. If the gears are new then the coast side should naturally be within the acceptable range. I use the diagram that comes with the gears to adjust them.
