  • Well folks, it's that time again. With 2015 now under way, we take a look back at some of my favourite shots, moments and events of 2014. Particular highlights include 35028's first visit to a heritage line, Didcot's 'Once in a Blue Moon' event, which saw three BR Express Blue liveried locomotives together for the first time in over 60 years; 5029 and 5043's Z48 anniversary runs, 45407's stunning solo performances over the South Devon Banks, 62712 Morayshire's visit south of the border to the Great Central Railway, and 4464's run up the Lickey Incline.
A number of locomotives made their return in 2014; these include, 5541, 7820 'Dinmore Manor', 45690 'Leander', 4270, 5199 and 46447. As well as the returnees, 2014 also saw a number of locos bow out of service; including 5164, 34028, 5029, 4464 and 7F 88. We also saw the departure of A4s 60008 'Dwight D Eisenhower' and 4489 'Dominion of Canada' from the UK, as they made their epic voyage back to the USA, returning to their respective homes in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Montreal, Canada.
I would like to thank all the wonderful people, who worked so hard to make these events happen. I would also like to thank everyone who watched my videos, commented on them, favourited them, and subscribed to my channel in 2014; and I hope you all have a great 2015.
    Enjoy.

As a small boy in the 1950s I was often put on a steam train at Taunton and told to get off when the train got to Paddington where my grandmother would meet me.The driver and fireman seemed to me to be very big men to little me.The train guard would always keep a eye on us lone travellers. They were happy journeys in more civilized times. You have brought back many good memories. Thank you.

Two hours of railway history filmed in stunning light and finished with this significant shot of two centuries of transport! Amazing camerawork and hours of patience result in a feast to the eye. Thank you very much, Kristian.

Thank you so much for sharing this and all of your videos! My ex-husband from 9/11/2001 and I just got remarried last Sunday 8/23/2020 after being in lockdown together since March 16th. We have so much in common, and a love of trains is one. After Covid, we've decided to make some of these rides our honeymoon adventure. ❤

Wow! This is absolutely fabulous! I have always bemoaned the fact that camcorders came along only after steam locomotives disappeared. Thanks to RUclips, I can view these beauties again.

    Hi speed to the West
Sorry my frenglish could not pass my enthousiasm, I hope you'll get it in French.
Thanks for sharing this amazing video.

I do like that more of you are beginning to use 1080P's resolution to great advantage for distant tracking shots. But, for good story telling, IF in the scene the train is passing a semaphore, do allow the signal to go to "red" before cutting or fading out, thus providing a "railway sense" of closure, (ie: at 3:40.)
